Check the teams with the big bank rolls and sponsors...the senior olympic tournament is the most expensive of any senior organization tournament and the rewards are almost zip.

We (Ohio) played in S.F. two years ago and there were three teams from NJ, One from NY, one from Delaware and one from Maryland in the 65+ bracket.

Notice no California teams...they must have known something. Save your money and go to a National SPA, SSUSA or Hunstman tournament.

All the teams are listed on NSGA website, all three Texas teams that qualified at the State Games Last year will be there in the 60 division, Mission/Classic San Antonio, Alamo City Legends San Antonio and Glunts out of Houston, only 10 other teams in the 60 division nation wide will be there. We play 21-26 June. Again this time only three 65 team will be there.

Too much money and too little competition in this one to make it worth while.

We won the 55Gold in Palo Alto 2years ago but its not a "World" or "National" competition softball tourney - at least not yet. If softball is all you do - this won't make you happy.
What it really was for us - it was an Olympic atmosphere with thousands of diverse participants competing at high levels in many of the sports we all did besides baseball.I was a pole-vaulter but I can't imagine doing 13ft. now like these guys do.(Stanford U. was the main track venue.) I've never been to Huntsman but that sounds similar but smaller. The softball venue is a Big League Dreams complex - Yankee Sta./Fenway/Wrigley etc.
We're not a sponsored team - and we're not rich - but we hope to have as much fun in the Houston area as we did around San Fran. (Never been to a beach in Texas - can't wait.)We heard there's good food, too.
Oh - and the big heavy shiny gold-looking medal on a ribbon they gave us will be great to drape over one of my grandkids when they need to "win" something someday.

Ho, you're right about the cost. Entry fee for this two years ago was double the average tournament fee! Don't know why it was so expensive, other than trying to cover costs overall. My team was one of the many, many California teams that said "No thanks". Tournament fees were drastically lowered this year, and we signed up, but the competition just wasn't there to make appropriate brackets. Maybe it will grow. It would be fun to compete against out-of-state teams.

4Four4, I think you're right, that this is an attempt to compete with the Huntsman games. Still early in its history, and the venues are superior to St. George, with the exception of the softball fields. Could grow in the future if it can overcome losses from current games. One clunker this year was that the games are advertised to be open to all spectators without charge in order to build interest and a fan base with an eye to the future. But the greedy softball venue this year still charged an admission fee for every one not playing. Rankled a lot of potential fans and players who just wanted to go and watch.
