June 28 big cat7 Men's 50 138 posts | Well just had another MIKEN MAXLOAD ULTRA break on me.This one lasted all of 35 swings and just in games no batting practice.I love playing the game but its getting expensive having to buy two or three bats a year.Has anyone ever had any luck returning an ultra? |
June 28 Paco13 424 posts | My 28oz cracked around the 125 mark. Of course I am probably half your size...if you find out anything let me know. Thanks in advance. |
June 28 perly 88 posts | big cat, I have sent an Ultra II back to Miken and had it replaced. You need a reciept that's less than 30 days old and they'll work with you. I broke my second Maxload this weekend in Marietta. It had maybe 50-75 swings on it. I sent it back to Miken today and hopefully they'll replace it. I have busted two Reebok Melee's this year and they replaced one of them. Would love to find a durable bat. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm beginning to agree with Gary19 and mad dog, let's quit using Senior bats and go to USSSA bats. We are being abused by the bat manfacturers. |
June 28 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | that is why i would go to combat and use them.it took me over 1k swings to break mine.i still have one i bought in oct 2007.i used my combat in reno in that cold with no prols. |
June 28 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | perly if we go to the 52 ball(this would be my choice to help save seniors money) we can have durability back then.i hit this ball this past weekend in a NSA tourney for seniors and we used this ball and the senior bats perform very well with it. |
June 28 perly 88 posts | mad dog, I'll be playing in and NSA event next month and may get to hit the 52 core ball. It sounds like there are those that like it and those that hate it? I want to hit a ball that when I hit it well I get rewarded for it. Also, I agree with the Combat. I've had two and they both lasted a long time. I guess I need to give Combat another shot. |
June 28 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | perly where will this tourney be at.i used my reebok this past weekend to try it on these balls.i did use my combat first time up,but than switched.i did see all the diff brands out there tho. |
June 28 hitman Men's 70 339 posts | Unless NSA has had a change of heart or rules Senior bats are not permitted. If they were used for the western Nationals then we in the East/South would also like to use them but not the 52/275 sock. Those may be ok where it not hot but in the south with the high humidity and temperatures they are garabage. We had a NSA problem a couple of years ago when Combats were used at one complex for NSA nationals but not at the others. If someone from NSA knows what the current rule is please post. The current NSA ball is the 44/400 in the southern area. The Hitman |
June 28 TexasTransplant Men's 70 516 posts | To your point, Hitman, I know that they are allowing senior bats in the NSA senior tournaments here in Texas this year. We're scheduled to play in Gadsden, AL next month. They've never allowed senior bats before, but I've been wondering if the change here in TX indicates NSA has changed its policy for all its senior tournaments. |
June 28 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | mad dog: If what I am told is accurate, the Reebok's will be more durable and have the same pop to them. The defective bats will be cycled thru and the durability will be recognized throughout the regions. Let me know from time to time how your Melee is holding up. Surf |
June 28 GaCMan 86 posts | The tournament Perly is speaking of is in Boaz Ala and I think we will only be able to use utrip bats!!!! |
June 29 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | maybe ed,but till than....i do have one reebok and will use it and am trying to keep a ball park hit count on it,and it is up to at least 150 or more. let me see what i have done 1) first bp session 50 swings 2)second bp session 10 swings,to cold for any more than that(was in reno) 3)tee session 60 swings 4)tourney bp warmup 15 swings, bat still not broke in so maybe 5 swings during tourney 5)bp session 30 swings bat finally is opening up nicely 6)tourney (NSA) using 52 ball warm up bp 15 swings, tourney 12-15 swings well after counting them up i guess i'm closer to 200 than 150 and see no cracks or anything wrong with the bat so far.and yes i do keep close track when starting with a new bat.my bucket has 30 bp balls in it,when i do tee work,it is 10 swings at a time(have a bag that has 70 or so balls in it),and most of my warm up before tourneys is 15 swings.the balls i use are anything from 40's to 52 cor and 275-525 comp,so use a varied combination of balls. |
June 29 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | gotcha. I used mine all the way through Reno, had no problems from the colder temps.Keep me informed please. Ed |
