Oct. 27 GMitchell3 Men's 50 2 posts | bases loaded 1 out. One hopper to 3rd , all runners take off, he touches 3rd and throws home for the double play. When and where can catcher tag runner out on this play? Also how far down the 3rd base line is the commitment line ? At Desert West it was 9 ft from home plate. good luck! |
Oct. 27 Joncon 328 posts | Can't make the tag after the commit line. As far as the commit line being 9' from the plate.....I had the opposite thing happen in Tucson once. No base coach, I rounded third about 20 feet, found the ball, stopped and went back to third only to realize I'd alredy crossed the line. DOH! |
Oct. 27 Joncon 328 posts | Commit line is 20' from the plate (I'm guessing....too lazy to look it up ) |

The way to do it is touch third and as soon as the runner passes the commitment line, throw to the catcher for the out. Per rule 1.15 the distance is 20 feet from the plate for the commitment line. |

Oct. 28 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Ok, I didn't say to make sure he crossed the line, but I have run a player toward home when necessary. He sure can't come back when you have the ball. |
