Wow, guys this is great, Gary19 lives near by, and I'm sure he could teach you something about the game or equipment. maybe even show you the rings he has won that I heard about from a player who played with him. That would be an interesting STORY. You never know, it might be interesting.

That is right Big D. We should be able to hit Friday morning in Brook Park. They play the men's senior league there on Tuedsay and Thursday mornings untl 12.00 So we should not have any problems for Friday. I am going to try have a couple of guys from that league maybe and then the Maple Heights league. I might be able to get some players from the Northern Ohio 50 team. I will make sure I bring some shitty balls. Ha!Ha! Just kidding. If Gary19 wants to show up he is more than welcome. I am from Cleveland and don't have anything against softball players.... Anyone is welcome.
See you there Big D!

GB, what bat do you swing in senior ball? Also, what percentage in distance do you feel the senior bats get over the ASA bats. Have you talked to Schleede lately?

Pricer, I talk to Schleede pretty often. I haven't talked with him lately. Great guy and a great ball player. The guy loves the Blues!

As far as what bat I use, I actually like to use them all. I know I have my name on one and I love my MM bats. But when I hit sometimes I will try other bats to see what is out there from other manufacturers. I have swung all of the bats. I would like to say it is at least 20 feet difference with the senior bats vs. the ASA sticks. I am talking right out of the wrapper. Once a bat is hit so many times anything can happen to any bat. Some last forever and some break too quick that is for sure.

My feelings are as of today, that the bat and ball combo is perfect for Senior softball. 44/375 is the only way to go.

When I am playing in a game I will swing either one of the Combats - Red 10 inch, Grey, Yellow 13 or 10 inch, Blue 13 inch, or the White one 10 inch. I have them all in my bag and will swing them all.

Big D,
You might want to give cross streets on here for the Brook Park, for Gary, so he can't really say he got lost in the 20 or so miles from his house.
Who knows he might be decent. He's every thing else on here.
Hope you don't go middle if he pitches for ya-all there. Aha, heck do it.

Was Looking forward to this mornings session, and came up and met with "5ToolsinOhio" However session was cancelled due to Brookpark Community Days, I believe.

I would have liked to come yesterday but my boss at the office probably wouldn't have been too pleased if I disappeared for a few hours :)

Is anything going on this week? Next weekend??

Odd that this is one of the few threads G19 does not trash just by his presence. You'd think with his comments about playing with or against Mike back in the day + his knowledge of big time softball coupled with his vast experience as a pitcher he would jump right out there - hit + throw BP for the boys..........

Would be just like old times.

Gary,
I was hoping to hit there again today but Chicken said they called it off. It is Brook Park days there but we will hit this week.

Had a great time seeing Big D. And we had some good batting practice. Had 6 guys and we hit in pairs. Worked out great. Got there early and the Brook Park seniors were hitting already and they moved fields so we could hit on the one with nothing but shuffle board courts behind it. If we would have hit on the other field we would have got in trouble hitting balls onto the tents. Ha! Ha!

If anything is going on this Friday or Saturday, please let either me, or "5Tools" know. I have games Monday through Thursday this week, I "might" be able to leave office for a few hours Friday. Saturday is no issue, no work, no tournaments next weekend, wide open on Saturday!!!

Thanks

Guys, the morale was at a alltime LOW when we had BP in Brookpark Fields on Friday at 10 Am. Becuase Gary19 did not Show up!!

The guys we struggled thru Batting Practice "any how" without Gary19. It was a pleasure to hit with Mighty Mike and the Gang.
I would like to thank them again for thier Hospitallity once again. Mike the "Sweet Swinger" as he was known in the Day - Showed several signs of a good comeback

We talked about all of the guys that are not with us anymore - for one reason or another. We encourage all Men our age to get involved in a daily activity and stay in shape , whether you are playing Big Time Softball or Just walking, biking, basketball or just working out in the gym Please Guys Do something and live longer. Gary19 maybe we see you somewhere down the road?????

Yes the batting practice was fun. It could have been better if Gary would have shown up but I just show up myself. Yes I am trying to get in better hitting shape. Had some medical treatments to my one leg and I will work on the other leg sometime real soon. It felt very good swinging. The first time in a while. Even though I have hit this year a few times it just wasn't comfortable. Going to get some swings in today. Was working on a bat from Combat that really hits the crap out of the ball.

My boy Tread, Big D was hitting some nice shots all morning. Nice easy swing for the big guy. I don't know if it helps or not with 23 inch arms. Just kidding. It has to help! Ha! Ha!

I am going to hit in Cleveland's Progressive Stadium (August 6th0 when the Long Haul Bombers are in town. I am going to Hit For Gordie, The Old Scout. He is in pretty bad shape and has had a rough time with his health the last couple of years. So somewhere during their hitting contest, either before or after I am going to see how many I can hit out. For every ball I hit I have someone donating 200.00 to help Gordie. I hope to get 10 swings and we will see what happens. I am looking forward to it so it should be fun..

Good Luck to Big D and all Senior players in the upcoming months. The weather is extremely hot this summer so stay cool and be safe.

Oh yeah, if you need any softball equipment just give me a call. I have some great closeout deals on Reebok balls. Great for batting practice. Have some ASA 44/375 White softballs for $20.00 a dozen. Believe me you can't go wrong. The Reebok balls are very good softballs. I should know I have been hitting them long enough...

Gary probably using his anti-war message again, "No Bomb Dropping."
I'm sure he's waiting for your leg to heal before administering an "ass woopin'" on ya! He'll make the next one, going to run out of excuses!

Funny you should write that, since my son is now in Afghanistan in the EOD. If I was at all sensitive I might be offended by your stupid comment.

Why do I need an excuse for what I never said I would be doing?

Mike, good luck with curing all that is ailing you....:)

Gary, I think you know he was referring to BATS and not anything else. Most of us here who read this know you have mentioned your son.
Show up at the next BP session, OK. That may well help yourself out on here.

Not really Scott, since I am not sure what "anti-war" has to do with softball.

Again, I am not the sensitive type, so whatever he meant had no effect on me. I just thought it was kind of dumb to say.

Guess here for actual, but:the anti-war ='s anti senior bats & anti-bombs ='s hits over the fence or further.
Doubt it was the one you are worried about since chances are there will be others in a year or two as well.
Then again ,you refer to countless other things that has no connection to softball we are currently playing, which is primarily travel ball on here, but with some league thrown in.
No effect ? then why the comment, I see other stuff, I just ignore ,that I know is false like the reference to me but didn't fire a cheap shot back at him. But maybe next time. BTW, thanks for your comment on that.

Strictly an observation about what a silly comment it was. I have no idea who the guy is, I don't think he has the stones to identify himself, so no he had no effect at all.

Again, it was just an observation. If you haven't noticed I make many comments on things that have no impact on me.....:)

I don't believe I have ever said what I don't mean, though I am sure I don't remember everything. So what exactly about my "past" are you referring to?

And none of that has anything to do with his silly comment, whoever he might be.

HJ, correct you are. 19, bomb dropping in softball refers to hitting long balls, you know, home runs (with Senior bats no less). It has nothing to do with combat. My family is a military family. 3 generations of fighting for the USA. Currently, a son-in-law, a Captain in the Marines, a lifer, served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has one more deployment in about a year. You've stood behind your kids athletic accomplishments on here instead of your own, are you going to do the same for your military background also?

What "anti war" has to do with softball is you remind me of the a$$ who protests everything(including war), and every other cause that comes along. You seem like a blowhard that belittles others entertainment from an ivory tower (which is actually from a keyboard in a not so nice of an industrial bedroom community; a far cry from an ivory tower) with disregard for how others feel. As far as you being a nobody with a keyboard that quite frankly on most days would look great shoved right where the son doesn't shine, right up there in the brown, I do feel that very strongly about that. As far as that poor kid that has you to look up to as a dad, no "war" bombs ever intended, as I have total restect for those in the military, God bless him and bring him home safely. Just thought you to be an agitator like most protesters seem to be. If you want to think it's dumb, do so. Cuz' frankly my dear, I don't give a ____!

As far as community, like you brag on your education when challanged, you don't want to go there! I wouldn't challange your education..........don't try to match neighborhoods on ths one.
As far as the size of my mouth, it's large, confident, and from the heart; and I'm sure I can back up what I say on the field, or off for that matter. How bout' you? Can you? And, for a keyboard athlete, for what reason is my name important to you? What purpose would it serve? I'm sure the majority could care less what your name is, and I sure they feel the same about what mine is.
