| Jan. 20 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Time to treat gloves for upcoming season (where it is still cooler). Get a big jar of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. Rub it all over outside of glove, then rub all inside of glove, fingers and thumb inside. The Vaseline will go right into the leather and WILL NOT BE SLICK.... Keeps gloves soft inside helping your fingers not get crushed on a hot liner or thrown ball. Note: Will not make gloves slick, they will resist sweat and protect the leather. Gloves will last a lot longer. C |

| Jan. 21 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Wayne 37 - Next time you should get a real Leather glove. Vaseline goes rightinto my Leather Rawlings Glove. After treating glove put a ball in Pocket and wrap up with a towel, the pocket will be perfect. You do this in the off season, not when you are on the playing field. C |

| Jan. 21 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Bob, never thaught about that, I rub the V in then rub a paper towel over glove to get excess off. OH, also I will use a hair dryer to sorta melt the V, forgot that in earlier post. I would guess some weight is added. My glove is 14 or so years old and still in good shape, the ball seems to stick to the glove on near misses. I play outfield so sometimes that is very important on a last lunge catch. C |
| Jan. 21 BudLeftField 86 posts | I use ArmorAll leather care gel. Its not sticky or greasy. It cleans,conditions, and also protects from UV rays.You can get it at most any auto parts store. I also use a leather Rawlings glove. |

Does everything discussed above but doesn't add weight and actually cleans glove if wiped with paper towel. Added weight is biggest problem for most glove treatments. If not an issue almost anything greasy will work. |

| Jan. 24 Corky Men's 55 451 posts | If you want something that works well and serves multiple purposes try Albolene...any drug store has it..Works great on gloves......takes off make-up and Dr.s recommend it for lubrication.....you'll have to decide what you will use it for :} (Haven't tried it to take off my make-up yet. |
| Jan. 24 Wayne 37 Men's 65 773 posts | crusher, I have a Rawlings Gold Glove Heart O' The Hide. About the best leather you can get. Good leather gets dry. It's a conditioner, not a cleaner. A lanolin shaving cream, and a damp rag is good for cleaning..............Yes the Vaseline will make your glove at least seem heavier. I think most people get this idea from the product Nokona sells, Some use saddle soap, but I think it can make some gloves too soft, and cause the leather itself to tear if not applied correctly. I've had my glove for appx. the same time. It looks great except where I got sweat on the outside of it having to hold it between my arm, and my side on occasion. I think I might be fixing to order a custom glove (bull hide) from Mexico. A Rolin or Birazza. They're the same thing. You can get what you want for less than a custom made glove from the USA. I wish I could in touch with that guy that makes maple wood baseball bats (Rock Bats). He used to get gloves made in Mexico from goat skin that would last beyond belief. I finally bought some other batting gloves, because the dye from the leather was finally starting to wear off on my wrist real bad. Those gloves almost can't be torn up. YMMV (your milage may vary) |

| Jan. 26 titanhd Men's 60 640 posts | I agree E4/E6Mink oil is the ticket.I buy the paste not the liquid though.Wipe on as you would paste car wax and rub off excess.Cleans,Conditions and waterproofs.I never put anything liquid on my gloves.That includes glove oil.Makes them heavy |

I know it is a bit of an extreme punishment, but it is the only way I have learned to teach the glove that when the ball goes in it, it is supposed to stay there until I pull it out with the other hand. Now, if I could only teach the other hand what to do... |
