Ken,

It's possible that Nicholson could be another answer, but I couldn't verify. The question referred to TOP billing, not just be in the film. I don't know what billing he had in the 3 films you mentioned.

Ken,

Yup, Dustin is the man. He won best actor for Kramer v Kramer and Rain Man, but lost in 1969 to the Duke in True Grit.

You are up!

It's 3 days and I ought to post a hint, but I can't think of one that isn't obvious. Maybe because it's too personal or too local.

I grew up in the neighborhood where the A Bronx Tale was filmed - Astoria, Queens. It was chosen because the streets today look exactly like the streets of the 50s and 60s (except street signs). My school/church/playground is constantly in the background - what a kick. Some scenes were filmed in Brooklyn.

The line spoken by DeNiros' character's son: He's about 15-16 and in love for the first time with a black girl from the "projects" (this would never really happen in my neighborhood). He kisses on the lips for the first time, steps back stunned and in awe and says "Do you make sauce? In his world, all he needed was a kisser like her and italian sauce.

Finally, if, after the guy opens the passenger side door for a date the first time, she reaches over to unlock the driver's side door, she liked him.

Another trivia item: During the openning scene, the boys are playing Johnny-ride-a-pony. Ever hear of it?

See next post for a more simple trivia question and thanks for listening to my reminiscing.

Sorry, but I didn't compete my question. Disregard previous post

Where was most of "A Bronx Tale" filmed?

The film was directed by Robert DeNiro and written by Palminteri.

Extra credit: One of rhe best lines was spoken by the DeNiro character's son (you'd relate to the line better if you were Italian). What did he say after a first kiss from his new girlfriend?

Extra-Extra-Extra credit: In the film, how could a guy tell if his date liked him?

Rich,

Golden Eagle fields were terrific. There was a one-hour monsoon with heavy rain and winds. The fields drained instantly and we continued our game within minutes after the rains stopped. The entire field is artificial - red infield, green outfield, and NO dirt anywhere. The batter's box is painted and a bit too narrow.

Don't hold me to all of these, but here is what I think I know:
65 Major+: Blue Jays beat Ruth
65 Major: ??
65 AAA: Renegadws beat LV Elks
65 AA: Fastsigns beat Prospectors
80: River Hawks beat Northwest
70 Major+: Seals beat Joseppis

2awesom and J3: I guess I didn't think of what to do when 2 guys answer the questions. So I'll post the answers (interesting stuff) and a tie-breaker question.

Age difference between Dustin and Anne: 6 years - hard to imagine.

Dustin was paid $20,000. The budget for the film was only $100,000, but ran over. Dustin netted about $6,000 after his expenses on the film and was on unemplyment soon after,

Dreyfus got the Oscar for Goodbye Girl before Dustin got his.

Tie-Breaker Question: What is the connection between Dog Day Afternoon and Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Finally! You guys are so good, I barely can jump in.

I've collected quite a few trivia questions. So, since I might not get back in for a while, I've listed 3 of my favorites from The Graduate. Getting 2 of 3 approximately right makes you a winner.

We all know the story of Dustin Hoffman has an affair with his girlfriend's mother, Anne Bancroft.

1. What is the real-life age difference between Dustin and Bancroft?

2. What was Dustin paid for his role in the Graduate?

3. My first role was as a bit actor in The Graduate. My role was to poke my head into Dustin's room and say one line and disappear (3+ seconds max). Ironically, I won a Best Actor Oscar before Dustin! Who am I?

Discussion: HEADFIRST SLIDING

It's time to confess my most embarrassing softball moment.

I was taking an extra base going to 3rd because the SS muffed the relay when my (stern, but loveable) manager indicated "Slide! Slide!" I knew I was in trouble.

I learned the game in NYC concrete school yards, and never slid min my life. But, because of my manager's "sternness" I slid headfirst hoping not be balled-out.

My slide was beautiful with a big cloud of dust and dirt. I heard the ump yell, Safe!" I felt great! But it didn't last.

When the dust settled, EVERYONE noticed my outstretched fingers were 4" from 3rd base. It was the loudest "You're out!" I ever heard.

At our year-end team party, I was awarded the Super Slider - a vest with small training wheels attached at the chest area.

So, now you know how to identify me on the field. Look for the bright orange Super Slider vest!
