Is there any reason that the fields in Peoria aren't used? There are 6 fields at Pioneer park most with 320 ft fences and 4 more at Rio Vista. These are definitely tournament quality fields, especially compared to the fields that I've played at in Vegas the last few years.

You should be able to find Lexol at most auto parts stores. I know it's at our local Pep Boys, but I've also bought Lexol at AutoZone and O'Reilly's.

Lost my iPhone 4s at Desert West yesterday and was wondering if anyone picked it up and was looking for it's rightful owner. If so please turn the phone in to the concession stand or field director's table area. The phone has the outline of a baseball on the back. I either dropped it on the way in or at the entrance to the Field 2 dugout early yesterday morning.

Thanks!

I'm sure everyone has their own favorite glove repair service, but Sandalady has repaired at least five different gloves for me including a complete pocket replacement on an A2000. Her rates for repair are reasonable and if you call, you'll talk to her directly about anything regarding your glove care and repair.

Here's her website:

Check out El Dorado Park on Friday mornings. Not sure what time they start. (8:00-9:00 AM?)Usually enough for 4-5 teams and a few games. El Dorado is on the east side of Miller Road about a mile north of McDowell. There's a SSWC tournmaent at Papago Park Mar 18-20. Papago is on the west side of 64th St just north of McDowell.

Discussion: Sports Sensors - Swing Speed Radar

I believe the raw formula is
KE=1/2 mv2
KE=Kinetic Energy-the energy due to the motion of an object(the bat)
m=mass (the bat)
v2= velocity squared (the bat speed)

So in pure energy terms that means that for a twofold increase in speed, the kinetic energy will increase by a factor of four. Now you have to factor in how the KE is actually transferred from the bat to the ball. But, per the formula any increase in speed goes up geometrically as opposed to an increase of the bat weight which only goes up porportionally.

Per your example

For the lighter bat:
1/2 X 105X105 X 28 = X units
The 105 mph speed is a 12% increase in bat speed over 80 mph. This speed percentage increase is then squared 1.12 X 1.12= 1.25. So for the 12% change in bat speed you get a raw change in the KE by a factor of 125%

Now for the heavier bat:
1/2 X 80 X 80 X 32= X units
The 32 oz bat weight is a 14% increase in bat weight. This speed percentage increase is then merely added to the old bat weight. So for the 14% change in bat weight increase you get a raw KE change by a factor of 114%.

125% is much greater than 114% so that you can see that for an even lower percentage increase in bat speed as in the example provided, you can see that the available KE is more.
125% for a 12% increase in speed vs.
114% for a 14% increase in weight.

I'm sure my thinking is flawed, but as they say, "speed kills." I never heard the same or similar saying for weight.:)

Easton Salvo, new Miken Freak, Miken ASA Recoil if you can get it. Of the new ASA bats you can get, the Easton Salvo seems to be the bat of choice here in Arizona. Sports Authority has them on-line for $199 and you can probably get a coupon to lower the price to $174.

I like this one, but as stated you need to evaluate whether this is a good exercise for your personal situation. That being said the exercise below appears to fit.

Guys,

I'll be hitting down at Friendship Park in Avondale this Sunday morning April 25. The starting time is 8:00 AM give or take. Friendship Park is on the south side of McDowell, about half-way between 115th (Avondale) Ave and Dysart Rd. From I-10 take either the Dysart Road exit or the Avondale Blvd exit, and go north to McDowell, then drive east or west (depending on which exit you took) about 1.5 miles to the park. The softball field is on the northeast side of the park, and can be seen from McDowell Rd.

Mike

If you'd like to get some hitting practice in for the upcoming year, here's your chance. I'll be down at Friendship Park in Avondale with my bag of 100 balls or so and my PitchSafe screen on most Sundays, starting this Sunday January 3, 2010.

Assuming it doesn't rain, the starting time is 8:00 AM give or take. If no one shows up I'll just hit off the tee until my hands bleed.

My experience with plantar fasciitis is that unless you support your feet with a good pair of shoes and aftermarket insoles, your heel pain will return. So make sure you get a good pair of shoes (3N2's, Boombahs, or Tanels) and some of the New Balance metatarsal support insoles to keep your heel pain from returning.It'd also be a good idea to use the New Balance metatarsal support insoles in your everyday shoes as much as possible (I have several pairs).

Since my heel pain several years ago, I haven't had a relapse (knock on wood), now if they only made a similar support for shoulders, I could play this game forever. :)

Good hitting, especially hits when there's two outs and runners on base. This leads to 20 to 25 runs per game which is also essential.

I have the larger one with the net. You're welcome to borrow it. I live on the West side of Phoenix, so depending on where your playing, it may be a hike for you to come and get it and return it

Discussion: Lost of a Teammate

Whenever I have played a Las Cruces or El Paso team whether it was here in Phoenix, in Tucson, and a few times down in Las Cruces; it has always been an enjoyable competition. All of the Las Cruces, and El Paso teams are a credit to the senior softball community.

Although I don't remember Bill specifically, please accept my condolences on his passing.
