Jawood I beg to differ with you on the major + issue. It doesn't suck to play against the best teams in the country, you can't sit up there in the extreme northwest and expect teams to come to you.I think a week end at the SPA nats would change your thinking on M/M+ being equal. How many trips east of Mississippi has your team made.Had you guys showed up at Midwest tourney we would of had five M+ teams had you entered SPA Nats. we would of had 7 or 8.We got moved up this year as well.(not complaining)just moving on.We were AAA in 06 moved to major after one tourney win, major for 2 years and 3 tourneys won now M+ and have one our first major event @ M+.But to find games we have to travel. We travel from Michigan west of the big muddy 2 to 3 times a year.I thought Joe L. did a good job of getting M+ schedules out to other M+ managers and it has given some teams the knowledge to find tourneys with good participation. Not trying to beat you up on this issue but it seems that a handful of teams do long haul tourneys and the rest just sit around waiting for these teams to show up in their back yards to fill their tourneys.Don't expect you guys to show up in Mich. any time soon but somewhere in between wouldn't hurt.Good Luck and we will see you in Vegas,Phoenix when we come west.

SPA Nationals (6) Major Plus teams.Nice turn out for 50 M+.Been reading horror stories about 55 M+ teams. The problem exist east of Miss. as well.Let me put my spin on this.Reason there are so few 55 M+ teams seems to me is that most 55's at that skill level are still playing with the 50 M or M+ teams. Our 50 M+ roster has 5 (55) and over players on it.This is diminishing the number of 55 M+ teams. So you either combine 50 and 55 M+ teams this would also allow 55+ teams to add 50 players and everyone plays straight up.Only at M+ level let them separate at the lower levels. This is a way to increase participation for the M+ 50 and m+ 55 teams.Think about it,there already combined for the most part and 55 M+ guys can play at that level and are doing it now on most 50 M+ teams.Including the ageless Einstein.Just a thought to beef up tourneys for M+ div. or make everyone play in their own age group, which I don't like as much and it wouldn't really increase numbers in two m+ divs. @ tourneys.

Einstein, glad to see you are going to SPA,July 17 week end I hope.Look forward to seeing you and the gang, who are you going to spa with. The balls in Vegas last year were a little weird to field but they did hit well.in the heat.Looks like a real competitive week end. Some more games like we had in Vegas would be a lot of fun. Stay Well.

JohnBob I agree,we were one of the first teams up there hitting Saturday and the fields were very playable by 4 o'clock. It left me scratching my head why we were not playing. After talking to Dave I guess I understand his position as well.To gb69 those rates we got were not SSUSA rates all host hotels were booked when I tried to book. This was expedia rates.I understand your frustration. We were not happy with the situation but we just won't to play like you guys do.In Michigan that would have been just a mild interruption and play would have continued Sat. eve.

Joe I have say that the Penguins out played the Dead Things in the last two games.Doesn't make me feel any better but they were the better team on that day. There were some questionable calls but when isn't there. You can choose any McDonald's you want I'm buying.LOL Thanks for the props on Midwest tourney,it was a good competitive week end.Dave did a good job with the situation he was handed by mother nature. It's tuff up north to get these things in during the spring season. Our first tourney was played in 45 to 50 degree weather with high winds. Not that much fun.I will see you in Vegas.Make sure you eat good before you show up.
Thanks Ray

Par,I talked to Dave about why Saturday was totally canceled and his reply was he tried to schedule games but was trumped by the city in concerns over liabilities were as, if he pursued this and someone was injured the liability would have fallen directly in his lap.I think Dave (Dowell) did as good as he could under circumstances. He hands were tied once the city dropped the liability bomb.Saturday he was adamant that all games would be played up until that conversation with city officials.

Let see,we got a nice Trophy,a ring option, some really cool Miken carry on bags,an invite to T.O.C.,Four really competitive games against 3 other Major plus teams for a change and great room rates at the Holiday Inn Express.(53.00) a night for double rooms. All in all it beats the hell out of laying around getting fat ugly. There is not alot you can do about the weather in the Midwest but make do.

Discussion: First Taste of PPR it was BITTER!

Bob50 yes I do.Close the pitching lane maybe a 3 ft. path up the middle period.Just because a pitcher is lucky enough to duck or lean out of the way of a shot up at his head why reward the batter with a hit.The way to deter players from hitting up the middle is to close it.Make couple lines on the mound, you hit between the lines up to arms reach of the pitchers head your out.More concise take away the guess work.Imagine a 82 1/2 in.x36 in. door opening on the mound, you hit thru it your out, simple.Or else just get rid of it all together. You ask that's my opinion.

The rule simply doe's not work!If you have to get your pitchers face blown up before there is a DBO.Than this rule is not a deterrent but a punishment after the fact.Pitcher still dead but batter is out,big deal.

Discussion: First Taste of PPR it was BITTER!

Sloball1 we finished 2nd came out of loser bracket lost first champ game 15-16 bottom of 7 to good Premiere team (55 M+) after spotting them 5 and 5 HR limit.Good game though.I have a question,if we are 50 M+ and we play 55 M+ should we get 8 HRS the same as what 55M+ usually get or should we both get five? Why 5 we are both M+ and neither of us use a 5 HR limit normally.Rarely do either of our teams get to take advantage M+ limits why not against each other.Wagon your argument is appealing.Chuck #8 I feel ya bro,had similar issue. You guys played us well but your right you are nice AAA team and should be playing there.Good Luck with that.I think if they are going to keep this ridiculous ppr thing they make a change in a hurry because they offer no liability protection with existing rule and would have a hard time defending it in court as a measure of safety or prevention. At the very least take Smokey 20 idea with defined lines on field if ball go thru hitting pitcher or not your OUT.Our pitcher (back up) was nearly blown up more than twice. This these rules Tuurrabule.AKA Charles Barley.

Michigan team playing first qualifier. We played 7 games of which the opposing team hit 23 shots back thru the middle (all these are just the ones below the top of the pitchers head) we hit 13 shots back thru the middle over the coarse of 7 games. No batters called out.except one of ours for a one hopper that the pitcher swiped at hit his glove, batter called out.The weather was cold and wet with a 30 mph gust coming straight in from LC field. We being major plus having to play all major teams and having only five HRS and give up runs,You have a situation were some pretty nasty hitters were left with few alternatives but to keep the ball down.(very scary stuff)These new rules SUCK,called inconsistently and unless you are blown up on the mound they can pound it at you all day long with no consequence unless your head gets knocked off.HR limits add to the problem.I would like the author of this bit of genius to pitch one of our games after we run out of HRS if they think this is safer. It is very easy to see why M+ is almost extinct, with the run rules and HR limits playing against lower rated teams is a waste of time and not any fun or worth the 25 to 30K we spend a year. This is my observation after one tourney as M+,I can only imagine the frustration of those that have been doing it for + years. This will be my last. After years of building a team to get to the M+ this your reward (we started AAA in 06)what a disappointment, reconsidering Midwest tourney for ISF World Cup.Will forfeit entree. Thanks for nothing.
