the web site addition is a great idea and looks like it could be very helpful, but scanning some of the messages, its hard to make contact when no e-mail address or phone number is left. Must have been a senior moment : )

Discussion: which ASA bat is better? please vote or give comments

Fred Sc erra: Do you think there is much difference between the Mutant 98 and the Jeff Hall version ?

Also is it me or does these bats seem to lack alot performance when using softer balls ? I mean more than what you might consider normal when using Crapy softballs.

for ASA i'm using a mutant 98, i'm concerned though about the amount of flex in the handle. I talked to a Miken rep, sence Miken and Worth are buddies, and his comments leaned towards that the flex was to much for a batter with greater bat speed. I do realize that he was trying to sell me a 280 recoil, but I can't help wonder if all my mis- hits are all me.

Any comments on the Recoil or the Dictator

I just got a pitching machine by Wilson called a soft toss. and a net which is12' by 10 by 6' to hit into. You can get smaller nets.

the soft toss machine is like hitting "fence ball" it tosses regular softballs in a small arc about 5 feet high and is battery operated and rechargeable.

Discussion: Comosite bat ban for mid 2008 ?

hitt2; It was a 28oz. but swung like a 26. way to light for me. did not seem to have any pop. I thought i broke it in ( over 200 hits ) maybe it needed more, but I gave up trying. Line drivers were OK but no deep fly balls. It could have been that I was over swinging, but even when I felt I got all of the ball, I was not satisfied.

I have a senior combat but it's not completely broke in. I've used it only in one turney when I could not use the U2 so a fair comparison is tuff. I do feel that even though its not broke in its hotter, but its not ASA approved.

Discussion: Comosite bat ban for mid 2008 ?

I'm using a Mutant 98 for my leagues that require ASA standards. I like it alot for a ASA bat. My only concerns are the flex in the handle because of the two piece design and it seems to not be a very good bat in cold weather.

I've used the bat for only half a year last year and only in leagues which is 2 to 4 times a week. A Miken rep. tried to sell me a Recoil claiming the flex in the handle for batters with faster swings hinders your performance. This may be true, but he also was trying to sell me a bat.

I swung a ASA black rip-it for a bit and ended up selling it.

Steinbrenner, AKA; mark, after reading a few e-mails I figured out who you are. Did you find a team in PHX ?
Maybe a team can use both of us ? Even though I don't pitch.

Discussion: Why do Seniors have to Cheat

I ran into this issue during league play for Seniors that was supposed to follow ASA guide lines. Even though the bat did not have a ASA stamp on it, it was at the time not on the banned list. So I questioned an Ump who happens to run some of the scheduling for the umps in the area and he told me that thay get updates form the ASA concerning these issues. Then Its up to each league. Do you remember @ the beginning of the year when the yellow rip-its came out and were beinbg used at some tournaments because thet were not on the banned list ?

Discussion: return of the original U 2

A thought -- now that Miken is returning to the " original" U-2 model, I wondering if they are just going to be the fragile advanced with the regular handles.

yea ! don't you just love guys who show up with just a glove as their softball equipment, looking like they just got off work. I don't mind them using my bat, just as long as it's within the break-in period.

Discussion: ASA BATS

had a senior black rip-it and sold it to a teammate, I felt it was to light, but had good pop for line drives, it was 28oz. went and got the Worth Mutant ASA model same weight. Either because of the two piece construction or the end load, the bat feels more along the 28 or 29 oz. range. The balls come off the bat alot like my 07 JH. I did not notice much difference between the ASA & USSSA models.
