| July 25, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: GBA WILL BE BORN JULY 4TH Bill: I understand your defense and effort to build a facility. I work with imports/exports daily and do understand what it all encompasses. However, I think Pricer hit it on the head that the marketing introduction was premature. I know several guys who has stated unless the bat is something special, they will not buy another one. Birdie: I get responses from my email also but it is always the same reason. That gets old. I sincerely do hope the bat is worth the wait and is special. Just many of the troops have gotten restless. |
| July 11, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Old South Result Older facility but fields were in decent condition. No water in dugouts, finally put one cooler per field at the scorer's platform. One ump even in championship game but from what I saw , most were pretty good. Hopefully more teams next year. |
| July 6, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: A Fist Full of Dollars For a Few Dollars More For the 60s and 65s (which there is only one 65 team) a combined round robin where the '5' teams play each other once and then a single elimination championship bracket on Sunday. |
| July 6, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: NSA Senior Worlds Bats Permitted Hitman: This touney has gotten worse every year for the past several years. This is one of the reasons. It would have already disappeared if not for the 'local' teams and by that I mean the teams located within reasonable driving distance. |
| July 1, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: A Fist Full of Dollars For a Few Dollars More Hombree: I agree with you 100%. That is a ridiculus bracket. Talked to another player who played there last week and he had the same opinion. |
| July 1, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: SPA National,Dalton,GA July 14-17th Wazoo: You know they will take your dollars even late. Good luck to you. |
| July 1, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: What is Senior Softball to you? I agree with all and it gives me an opportunity to continue to play in my sixites against players my age. Still play occassionally with the young guys but am careful where I play, definitely no 3rd base. |
| July 1, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: GBA WILL BE BORN JULY 4TH I will believe it when I see it. 'Been waiting' a long time. I saw his post on the other board. He got a little defensive with the one guy. |
| March 28, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Women's softball Discussion: SENIOR SOFTBALL Taits is correct that an email addy would be good. Also, where are you located in Bama? There is a 50+ team in Montgomery named the Swarm. I am sure a board brother from that area can tell you who to contact. Maybe call Lagoon Park in Montgomery and ask them 334-271-7016. |
| March 11, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SPA Montgomery Teams We have had a lot of rain recently and it is projected to rain Monday & Tuesday, therefore; all of you outfielders better bring extra cleats & several pair of socks. The outfield will be wet and mushy particularly near the fence. Lagoon was built on a swamp and has a high water table. Secret is correct, the teams are posted on the website. I think it was 29 teams covering five age groups. Good luck everyone! |
| March 5, 2011 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: NSA Dog: Isn't NSA the worse Nationals to play in? Boaz's fields are good but Gadsden is the pits. It has dwindled down to a small number of teams. I could understand cutting back on expenses and skipping NSA. |
| Nov. 6, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: 50+ AAA registered player from Alabama Ditto Dawg: I played against Tony and his Swarm teanm several times this year. He difinitely will be missed by them. Good for us as he beat this season with a big bottom of the 7th hit. Same here, best of luck bro. |
| July 18, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Do solar bat warmers work?? armiho211: Warm bats and cold balls. Hot balls turn to mush. There are some solar bat warmers on ebay under 'heavy duty bat bag/solar warmer': http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110524466477&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT |
| July 18, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SPA MAJOR NATIONAL,July 15,16 & 17th Wazoo: Let's face it, on any given weekend your team could play major+. You just happened to have a bad weekend on the National tourney weekend. When your team only scores 11 and 4 runs in their final two games, that means you weren't hitting. That is quite surprising considering the hitters you have. The competition was solid all the way through with no weak sisters like you normally have in the area tourneys. DoubleL: I sure he is talking about some local teams such as one that was to for a better choice of words 'to affraid to come and play in the Nationals'. |
| July 1, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: DALTON, GA. TOURN. AND CAR RENTALS mad dog: I don't think there is a short cut as to say but if you take I59 to Gadden and pick up US 411, it will take you across the mountain and tie into I75 right above Cartesville, GA which is about halfway between Atlanta & Dalton. A scenic drive but only about half of it is 4 lane. Actually when you get south of Rome, GA you can take GA 53 and it connects with I75 about 30 miles out of Dalton. There are some other routes but I slow and 2 lane roads. |
| June 30, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: DALTON, GA. TOURN. AND CAR RENTALS JR- You might consider leaving Birmingham going up I-59 to Chattanooga and then down I-75 to Dalton. It keeps you out of Atlanta and its traffic. |
| June 30, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Associations Discussion: Ratings Agree Jawood, three divisions. |
| June 30, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: VA Player Looking to Play Dalton I thought the rules required you to play at least one SPA tourney with your new team before you could play in the National. At least that is what Ridge told us a couple of years ago when he would not let us play with a team. Our team folded so we out in the cold as to say. |
| June 30, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SPA MAJOR NATIONAL,July 15,16 & 17th Wild Bunch should play Major Plus. |
| May 8, 2010 oneofeleven18 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Senior Geezer Lefty: I had a Geezer and I felt it hit good after a couple of BP sessions but never felt like it had good distance. I saw a Veteran senior bat on ebay today starting at $39.95 and buy it now for $99. She states used on time. Maybe at $39.95, may be a good deal!!! |
