Well sayed, koived. You win a big tournament, you move up. Looks like to me they still got to play AA until some tournament directed saw them playing at AA and moved them up to AAA. You win, you move up, Thats what this is about. The cream rises o the top, JMHO From a 60 year old who has played over 45 years, From AA to M+

I feel like the last year or so before the Advance came out Miken has several batches that were totally $hit. I went thru 5 durning that time. I also am not a heavy hitter. I am working on the new ones and hope they last a lot longer.

batgoyaz, I guess their are other places but I have had good luck with Kellys. They always treat you right and Mike Kelly still plays a little softball so I feel he knows what a player needs and trys to take care of us.

Guys, I just got 3 of the new u2s. Going to try something differant this time. I will swing one until it has 100 swings on it, using the secont one until 50 swings and then hitting all 3 in a test. Right now the 1st one only has 25 swings but it still hits well. I know it will loosen up. My only real worry is if it will last longer then the older model. Keep your fingers crossed.

Simple to me, ""to many associations and to many tournaments"". Tournament fees are high and not many teams have full sponcers so teams have to be picky.
Fields arn't taken care of and good umps are far and few inbetween. It's so much about the money anymore it takes the fun out of playing the game we love.
In Florida all out "big" tournaments we always play the same 4 teams every year. Even when we go out side of Florida we play the same teams we played the year before and most of them are from Florida.
I played Culman about 5 years ago and had a great time.
Wish we would go back but with the little money we come up with from sponcers we need to stay close to Florida to keep players cost down.
BUT, this is JHO

Bruce, I got to play a little 1st this weekend with RT and Don . You are right only had avout 5 balls hit my way in 6 games. I think I I caught one or two. I know of at least 2 that was past me before I could react. I guess I played to close for a while until Dino moved me back. Last time I played first was over 20 years ago. Guess thats why I like ss/2b, another second to react.

Discussion: DONT USE MY BAT!!

Heck Tater as big as you are I would not want to use your bat anyway. It might be to darn heavy and ofcourse it's not a U2 so that is a good rewason not to swing your bats.
I had a new player just pick a U2 at random and break it on his first swing, He just said it was ready to break anyway.
After doing this the second time after warnings not to do it he was cut from the team.
I hate to tell people not to use my bat after they ask so I tell them that it cost 100.00 a swing, payable before they use it. Havn't made any money yet but I am the only one that breaks my bats.

Discussion: Ring tournaments--7 innings--1&1 count

With many good points being made and I am logged on I will say, as alreaded stated:
After using the 1 & 1 cound for many years I hate to play in a league that has the regular full count. I think most players should be ready to hiy the first strike thrown. Why should you look at and take a strike. I understand that if you are looking to go back hand you migh take a inside ball for a strike. But give the pitcher credit for hitting the edges. That is him doing his job on the mound.
I am not a pitcher (Can't even pitch a good BP session) but a good pitcher is worth his weight in gold. I my self want to swing at the first good pitch thrown in my area.
I good pitcher gets that first strike on you then you will be hitting his pitch, not what you want to hit.
I almost never see players running on and off the field.
This would help in speeding up the game.
Not having an infield ball saves time also but it;s a part I don't like. Playing SS maybe I get a ball in the hole in the last inning and have to make a hard throw to first. (OK, I can;t throw hard anymore. :) But since I haven't had a ball hit to me during the game and no warmup throws between innings my throw might not be the best it could be. I think you could get a quick round on balls thrown to you by the 1st baseman and stay loose if everybody ran on and off the fields.
Having the "5" or "7" run inning help and hurts many teams depending on the situation, but it will keep a weaker team close to a stronger team in some games. And the way TDs let many teams play down it helps to keep the playing field level.
We all know when we are on a roll we hate the run per inning rule, but love it when it stops the other team when they are on a roll.
Time and run rule limits should not be used in the biggest tournaments we play in. Worlds, Nationals and TOC.
Give "US" players a full 7 innings but in return "US" players need to hustle, stop arguing with the ump on each call
If run rule is used make it a higher run rule and only after the fifth inning. Teams can score 20+ run per inning with out the run rule in effect. They are just to many things that are limited
Major Plus and even Major teams should be allowed to play this game like it was played 40 years ago. NO LIMITS. (less players would play down if Major, AAA and AA had limits) Major + usually have less that 7 or 8 teams in a tournament so let them have fun. I don't play Major +, just Major and some AAA but I hate to see a team that can score 20+ runs an inning lose a tournament because of the time/run limit. I though that that was what is was about.
About players playing outside their districts, well maybe in another post. Still looking out for you BW and Mongo.
After rereading my post, we need to let the players PLAY.
The only reasons to have any limits is so the TD can get it done as fast as possible and take his money to the bank.
PS:: I really hate having to win a ring tournament and have to buy my own ring. I think softball is the only sport still doing this? My grand kids love it, they know who will get them when I get called up. :)

Gary you are correct, But I feel that I could place the ball anywhere I wanted to so hitting the middle without hitting the pitcher was no problem. Add the composite bats and just a small mistake could hurt a pitcher.
I am sorry to say some hitters hit the middle without thinking what could happen, maybe the win is just that important. I feel that staying away as much as possible helps me at cutting down on that mistake. I still get many hits under 10 feet high and between the 2b and ss that I don't call hitting the middle. I feel the batter knows when he hits the middle without any care of what may happen.
There are to many of these playes still out there.
Hitting the middle with out the intent of hurting the pitcher is part of the game.

JMO, but as for my self: I am 60 years old, play several Major teams, 50, 55 and 60. Also our 50 team plays in a flat bellie league and even we stay out of the middle.
Miken Bat:
Before the Miken I lived on the middle. When I needed to go long I would go out once in a while but the middle was where my 650 average came from.
Interduce the Miken and the middle (at least for me) went away. Now a few more HR and many more gappers, but never the middle. I think we seniors respect our peers and stay away from the middle. At least most do, yes, there is always a few that think it's cool to hurt somebody but that's a small percentage.
Home Plate:
As for the plate, it was stated before, It just a game we love, play by th rules, even when they change with each ump. Mat or no mat, ISA, ASA, USSA, just play the game.
I agree that more strikes would be called without th mat but with the mat there are less reasoms to argure with the ump.
Once an ump told me that if he could have a stool to sit in he would sit and could still call balls and strikes. Lazy, yes but the mats makes it easier and the ump only worries about the height. ( we all have seen that not being called correct many times)
Us players really need to stick together. With so many associtions holding so many tournaments (do you think they are making any money?) we do need to stick together and play the game.
The SPA widen the mat a inch or so this year and it helps the pitcher but I feel a good hitter should be able to hit most balls thrown close to the mat. Glld Luck all and have a great year.

Discussion: What is the correct call?

Audie, we had the same thing this weekend, runner on the bag at first get hits by the ball, ball rolls toward 2b, Umpire called, "ball dead, runner advanced and batter is safe on first" I think that was the right call even when it went against us. Main thing was that the runner was still on the base when hit by the ball.

Discussion: Bob Falkins

Anne & I spend a couple great hours with Bob and Joyce today. He is in Hospice now and in no pain. With round the clock Nurses to take care of Bob, Joyce has some time to breath and spend quailty time with Bob at his side.
He is in great spirits and says "HI" to all.
Keep our prayers for Bob the way Bob ask.
When the Lord takes him I know many of us will have lost a great friend. Lets keep giving Joyce our total support.
I know we all will because that was the kind of friends Bob and Joyce had. I know I am a better person just knowing them.
