Duke/DMac
Very interesting.
1st thing is that i have not disbanded my team at all, Kelly's Sports is done as a team for 2005 and everyone on my team knew it was just the 2 worlds this year for me due to the other assocaition being too restrictive towards ca. and fl.
I will come back in 2006 and play 4 worlds as Kelly's Sports.

Seeing how they turn out to be some of my players from this years team then they would also be Major Plus players your talking about, not just major players which is even worse if they played on a AAA team???

Right up front i would say that they should not have been allowed to play on a AAA Team and that the TD was 100% wrong if he let them even offering things like 5 runs or 11 players on defense.
The team in question must have cleared this with the TD in advance and it reminds me of the way the Snowbird rule is abused in advance with only the TD knowing he gave it his blessings and hoping that no one brings it up.
Any one going to Az. to play as the world turns ball???
Sorry to hear that this happened to you and i beleive you got a raw deal regardless of the outcome.

I am really interested in exactly what did happen and with whom.
Need the whole story before it makes itself clear who was right and who was wrong.
Even the TD of an event can be wrong although they do have the final word.
Maybe something can be learned or done about it the next time it happens if we all know the entire story.
What ia curios about is did the other team know that they were doing wrong but acted like they did not know???
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Discussion: How many Worlds can 1 team win before having to move up to the next highest division

theFinalWord

That team needs to state there case to those senior softball assocaitions and see what the response is.

This rating thing is flawed without a doubt as not real ball players are behind it.
I am all for at each event, managers gets cards and put there feelings about who was the best team and who were the best players, at least that way some live imput besides who won and who lost could be reviewed.

I would think that each assocaition should only worry about there own assocation and not force there opinions on the other assocations.
In other words you win the SSWC in Major and then the SSWC moves you up to Major Plus.
You try, you can't compete but they wont drop you back down.
Forget them and move to another assocaition who will drop you down and lets see hiw you do in that one.
By this time next year ASA, USSSA and NSA will be flying on there own programs and if they do it right will not listen to any suggestions from the other senior softball assoaciations and just run there own the way they want to.
This whole idea of trying to untie all 10 of the senior softball playing assocaitions onto the same page has been 1 bad joke on all of us and maybe next year they will do as i suggest and just worry about who wants to play in there event and not have any imput on the other assocaitions as to who, how or why they run there worlds like they see fit.
IMO

Discussion: opening the borders for Fla and CA help or hurt

KillAbrew

It has nothing to do with the high horse or the resorces i have available.

I fight for what i believe is right, that is how simple it is for me and if you knew me then you would know that to be true.

I beleive you when you say you moved up and gave it a shot.
I also said that after giving it a shot that a team should be allowed to petition to be moved back down.
The fact that they did not allow you to move back down makes it your argument with them not with me.
What i am saying is that i can't fight all the wrongs that are being done in senior softball but i sure will stand up and fight for the issues that adversly efects me and my team.

I am not trying to get personal with you and i am glad you explained in greater detail what your team had to go through in the past. Sounds like a bad deal.

Good Luck in the future.

Exactly that.

I have been hearing from teams on this board for awile now who admit to winning world events but do not think it is fair to them to move them up to the next highest division.

Adult ball has always contended that if you win too much or win the worlds that you have to move up 1 level and give it a shot to see if you can compete. I f you can't then you can always petition to be moved back down from whence you came.

I by the way agree with the idea of if you win a world you automatically should be moved up to the next highest level in that assocation.

What is fair here???

All opinions glady accepted.

Your statement,
We are well aware that we have a great team. But we have won some titles and been forced to play Major plus. We found ourselves to not be competitive there. It almost broke up our team. We refuse to get into that problem of dropping our friends for the headaches of the better but sometimes cancerous player.

What is your solution for teams that do win world titles.

Should you just be left in that same division to keep winning and not giving lesser then yourself teams a chance at winning???

I say that if you win any World or National title, you should be good enough to at least try the next level higher and if you really tried but can't compete , you request in writing to be dropped back down to the previous level.
You make it sound like it is all about fun with your friends but you do put winning in there as the first priority and sometimes in softball you can't have it both ways.
Don't be affraid of competition, we are all men and anyone can beat anyone unless you admit defeat before the game even starts.

No doubt i agree with your opinion on it helping to build the Major division up
BUT
how do you figure it would hurt the lower divisions????
We would not be pulling those players to begin with.
I will tell you that there are a ton of California players with burnt bridges that could get a fresh start with a Nevada, Az, team etc.
How about in your region, know of any guys who can't or won't play for Ga. teams but could get picked up and be happy on a florida team or vice versa.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander and this is simply a great rule and a fair rule and a long overdue rule for all levels of senior softball, period.
Interesting that you bring this up knowing how hard i fought for it and that i even had legal teams research it for fairness and they had it labeled as being descriminatory???
Please share with us your real motive for bring it up and putting it out there in this manner??
Thanks

So would you say he is a Ringer.

Cmon admit it that is a good one as i believe Ringer is also his last name.

I believe he was once with the Dan Smith group, i think.

Ayway, thats good for you guys and have someone from your team get with Jonny Mac and Myself and lets all go to the same events next year and encourage the other 50 Major Plus teams to do the same and have some big quality touranaments.

Thanks

Discussion: How many active 50 major plus teams

Lecak
Kelly's Sports and we will play 4 worlds in 2006.
Des Moines had 12 teams which was a mix of Major and Major Plus this year.
The USSSA we went to only had 5 this year which was down from10 last year.??
My schedule for 2006 so far has 3 of the 4 for sure.
They will be
ASA in Burlington
USSSA in ???
NSA Southeast somewhere
4th depends on who changes the rules in favor of Ca. and Fl. as far as opening the borders and we will choose from those left for that 4th event.
The more 50 Major Plus teams that join us at these 4 events the better.
Hope that helps.

I heard today from a very high powered ASA source that John Daniels of the WSL is going to fold up the Major Plus division for senior softball.
These tournament directors are pitching a fit about the low turnout from our division.
The guy who ran the ASA Tony Law is one of them and rightfully so as he loses money on a 3 team tournament.
I have talked with Johnny Mack from the crush and we are planning to go to the same 4 world events next year and i would hope that the rest of the Major Plus teams go with us or we might be on our last legs around here.
This again comes from a very very reliable source.
Looks like you might be the only team signed up for the panama city beach WSL in the major plus???
Please let me know how this turns out.

Older Than Dirt
Your right and i agree 100 percent.
The Crush is the #1 team in 50 Major Plus softball this year.
All Einstien is doing is trying to drum up some new talent to help us give them and every other Major Plus team a run for the gold next year.
Congrats to the Crush on a great year.

I just looked into my crystal ball and thought i saw another new winner in the 50 Major Plus division and i predict Pine Knob wins the 50 Major Plus in Las Vegas. Just a hunch so dont bet the bank on it, my bad never mind that you already spent the bank this year, hahaha
Sponsoring a team is a ton of money and given the up's and down's year your team had i find it refreshing that you don't seem frustrated with it all.
I to will start rebuilding some for next year as i know your team and the crush will be coming out a lot stronger next year.
The less restrictive border rules will entice me to at least 5 or 6 of the worlds next year.
Untll then take care and be safe.

Congrats on your ASA National Championship.
You beat a couple of real good 50 Major Plus teams to win it.
The triple play to end it was an awesome thing.
I played with Ed Rose in 1999 at the 45 USSSA worlds in Coco and might have played with some of the guys you mentioned but i am not sure.
Looking forward to meeting your team next year.

Sounds good for next year in Bulington then as we all like the kind of event you said it was.

I would think that the Florida Crush would attend next year as well with the borders being open and it being so close to them.

Thanks for the feedback.

I hear you buddy.
Even tho we were defending ASA Champions from last year, the current border rules resticted us from bringing a competitive team this year.
Next year i plan on going to the events that we have not been to go to before as a team once they get rid of the Ca. and Fl. border rules.
Events like the NSA, LVSSA, Mabe even Manasass as i hear RB is now playing with a good ball.
We will always look to play USSSA and if the ASA is in Oklahoma City next year like they were saying then we would also go to that. Plano Tx is a must next year as i have not been there since 2003 and never with the Kelly's Team.
Last couple of choices would be between the SSWC and the SSWS.
We should get to see you guys and play you some next year and i am looking forwrad to it.
Until then have a great year.
Thanks
