knobbs7,I guess you're talking about the TOC. We probably will not as most of the team that we won with has moved on to the 60s as the Columbus LX. I guess we would have to come back as a team and I don't see that happening, although I would have loved to go play in that one oh well maybe next yr.

I have one of the FL 26oz mdls, took about 200 to 300 swings before it opened up and started hitting well. Probably has about 4 to 500 swings now and hits very well,I think about as good as any Miken. Don't know how long it will last it's cracked up pretty good but so far I like it. For the money(you can buy one now for 159.00 ebay) it's hard to beat.

Discussion: 2012 CLASSIC SPRING TRAINING

Several of our guys went this camp and had a BLAST last yr. This was a great place to open the season with a lot of ball practice. Just like tournaments also a great place to meet and make new friends. Curt put on a great event for a very reasonable price. I plan to go again next yr as several of my guys do also. Looking forward to FEB see yall there.

Discussion: Dislike the Cold

I love cool weather but not cold. When we got to the field Sun morning my car said it was 33 now thats chilllllllly. Above 40 and below 95 is good for me. It seems that the older I get the more I hate cold weather. It's just hard to play with a coat on. Usually once I get on the field and start playing it gets better. One thing I do like about cool weather is the balls really go.

Don this is exactly what this forum is for, so players that are not on the board can hopefully have some input into these ORG. THANKS for this last post and hope next yr every tournament goes as planned. I don't think anyone wants any of these fine ORG to go by the wayside. We need them all so as to have different options to chose from. In our part of the country SPA seems to be the one most seen. Again hope to see some postive changes in the comeing yr.

JMO I think that this forum is here for just this type of talk. If no one says anything when something of this nature happens, then nothing will ever CHANGE!!!!!

There will be some teams that cut this tournament for next yr as so it should be. If some of these problems are taken care of and a lot of good will is spread then you will see teams come back. We have no intention yet of abandoning SPA as generally I think they are a great org. But, there are some things that need to be changed for the better. We surely need more than one ORG. so as to keep good venues to play in. 25$ is not much of a refund when you spend the kind of money it takes to attend one of these tournaments. I really feel sorry for the teams that came so far booking rooms for several days then starting and finnishing in 1 day.

Don't know about everyone else but getting to the field at 7:15 on Sunday and then playing 5 bracket games in 1 day and then haveing a 8 to 12 hr drive home is unreal. We had players that lived 12 to 13 hrs away, finnishing up at 5 on Sunday afternoon. By the time they got ready to leave this puts you around 5 or 6 on MONDAY morning getting home. Try and go to work then!!!!!!! Try and make that drive by yourself.

As for MIKE DESORBO he's a great guy never been nothing but nice. I really think a lot of him,but someone really dropped the ball on this one.

On aanother note looking to play in Jacksonville in Feb I hope it's better.

Discussion: MYRTLE BEACH FIASCO!!!!!!!! SPA

Well this was a first, played every Bracket game on SUNDAY. Started at 8:00 that morning won 2 back to back no rest then lost the 3rd then won the 4th. All this with less than 10 to 15 minutes between games. This put us in the championship game being the 5th game of the day at 3:30. Due to injurys and other unforseen problems, no rest and only 11 worn out guys we were no match for a very good team in Reality Check. They were the only team we lost to all day.

We played our only pool game and only game of the day on SAT against Pace a MAJOR team us being a AAA team. To me Reality Check was a much better team than Pace was as we played very close to PACE in pool play. Maybe Pace had a bad game against us don't know but seemed like Reality Check would have been more toward the Major catagory than the AAA to me. JMO

Anyway we played some very good games but 5 in a row with no break gets to be very hard with only 11 players. We ran completly out of gas by the end. Had this tournament been better planed and some of the Bracket games played on Sat (especially since there were empty ones there when we got thru at 3:00) maybe we could have had a little more fun. I'm sure we would have been in a lot better shape win or loose at the end. We got finnished around 5:30 Sunday afternoon and for some guys up to 13 hrs away that makes for a very long drive home and to have to get up and go to work the next morning.

These last two tournaments being my first as a guy running the team it was very frustrating Paying out that much money(game fees, travel, motels, food, etc) you would or at least I would expect a lot better run event.JMO

Well guess thats enough for one post hope by the time spring comes around maybe someone will have figured out how to set up a tournament a little better than these last 2 have been.

WOW can you believe this one???????
After the Major screw up in Pensacola I thought maybe this one would be better,NOT!!!!!!

This is the 2nd tournament in Oct put on by SPA PENSACOLA,FLA AND MYRTLE BEACH SC that we have been to and you might think someone with no experience was running this event. I was told 3 weeks before this by some friends that it would be the same as the last one because it is put on by the same crowd of people boy sure wish I had listened. This tournament started falling apart more than a week before we even got there and has gotten worse every day up till and through play day.

They blame this on the city for over booking a baseball tourney but this event has been on the books since last yr. Games have changed every day where as we were supposed to play at 9, 12 and 6 on SAT to only playing 1 pool game at 2 on Sat and then being told no more games for the day. And our only one pool game for the tournament going only 5 innings. Then they tell us to come back and start Bracket play at 8 on SUN morning. All this after changing field complexes 2 or 3 times before we started on Sat. So we will have to play all of our pool games on SUNDAY making for either a very long ride late late Sunday night or haveing to pay for another day at the motel and miss another day of work!!!!!! WOW

You would think that maybe they would REFUND some of our money, yeaaaa probably NOT. At 450 to 475 bucks a tournament I think you should get better than this for your money. I will seriously consider another tourney for next yr.

Hope everyone that went to this one will post their opinion and email SPA about this.

Whats your opinion as other softball players??????

I agree with both A133 and Webbie. I have tryed more than a few times to get players whom I used to play with 20 yrs ago to play. Almost all played before "hot bats and balls" most say ahhhhh I'm to old. There are very few people across this great country who are willing to invest their time and money into this game. Most especially now that times are hard. But more than that most are to LAZY. It's easyer to sit on the couch and watch TV, or they are still chaseing kids. Most of the guys I played with still work and just don't have the time.

I would probably still play regardless of equipment. But, I do love what we have and don't think less people at the tournaments that this is the reason for it.

I think too it's a matter of options there are a lot of ways to spend your time and money that require less effort.

People are also having kids a lot later in life than when most of us did, heck I was marryed at 19.

I think most people are not in to softball enough to devote that much money or time to the game. For me this is not a cheap weekend of fun but it is what I want to do on my time off. I enjoy the competition and the game enough that it's worth it to me. I coach a team and I can tell you it's not cheap or easy, it takes a lot of time and effort. You really have to enjoy it a lot.

Oh yea I forgot in my moment of what ever we will never be 30 again and I don't think I would want to. I have yet to meet a young guy that is not looking forward to being able to play SENIOR BALL. The OLDER guys and I'm 56 have always impressed me I can only hope to still be playing when I'm 75, these guys are AWSOME!!!!!!! PLAY HARD AND ENJOY!!!!!

I came to this game(senior softball) just a few yrs ago and boy was I ever impresseed with the older guys ability and eagerness to play. I have never felt like any of the rules have slowed or changed the game for the worst. Yes there are CRs that shouldn't be used but for the most part i'm OK with this. I on occasion have used this rule to my teams benefit. I read on this forum every day sometimes twice a day and most of what I hear is as my son says wahwahwahwahwah. There is only so much time left in this life enjoy every minute play hard and have fun.

LIFE IS TOUGH, LIFE IS TOUGHER IF YOU ARE STUPID. JOHN WAYNE

I'm sure I'll get crusified for that one!!!!!

Never try to improve it???? I think every thing thats been done is to try and improve the game.

Improvement of the game is never ending. Time stands still for no one. Every thing around us has changed some for the better some not . I guess its just a matter of opinion. Most people especially older people don't like change. At my age 56 looking back and remembering how it used to be in my (vivid imagination) everything was better back when. Change is never easy to accept, we are set in our ways. That being said I do like most of the changhes, some might need to be adjusted but thats what this forum is all about.

I like a lot of the changes extra plate and bases YES helps avoid collisions.

Courtesy runners YES I don't use them but they have a place in senior ball.

Limits on runs, time, and HRs YES all these have a place in this game. I think it makes us better players focusing on a much faster game and most of the time more exciting game.

Protective equipment YES if it makes you feel safer use it or not why should anyone care.

Force outs at home YES I dont think at our age anyone wants to have a collision, I certanly don't.

Not all players are created equal, every one of these rules helps keep the game to a respectable level of play and time. I would rather play 3 or 4 games in a day than 1 or 2 long games.

I know everyone doesn't like all of the rule changes but as a whole I think most of them are good.

I agree with Enviro Vac I like the game as it is. I just really enjoy playing this game.

This whole bat thing has gone a little crazy. I would probably play even if we went back to when I was a kid and played CORK BALL. I hope one day they will,(maybe Gates) come out with a tamper proof bat and or go to a combo that will work for the majority hahahaha. I like what we have but that seems to be what most of the talk is about or at least a lot of it is.

I feel also that I break way more than my share of bats, 9 this yr. Even though 3 were replaced thats still to many. It really gets in your wallet after a while. I'm not to bright as it took me a while to start buying cheap bats to use in BP, duhhhh.

In a perfect world looks like we could reach a happy medium but this sure isn't a pefect world is it?????? Well we can all dream and I can't sleep so I'm just rambling on and on. I'm sure some of you know what thats like. Remember we aren't 20 anymore and time moves faster nad faster every day, you better enjoy every minute likes its your last because it can end in a flash. I feel so lucky just to be able to play and enjoy the sport I love. I count my blessings each day. PLAY HARD, ENJOY, HOPE to play many more. Hope this help put me to sleep or maybe some of you goodnight.

OK 1 major player. Don't take this wrong I'm not ILL at you or your team I have the greatest respect for you guys. That being said theres too much difference between your team and ours for them to put us together in the same division. To me would make more sense to group all the major teams then impliment the equalizer factor, maybe???? Just don't think it's fair for a team of your calibur to help eliminate some of the AAA teams. The teams that yall didn't play had a huge advantage in this one. One loss puts you in a huge hole also a differant state of mind. Anyway look forward to meeting you maybe in MBeach and discussing this in person. Am I a soar loser hell yes aren't we all or we would just stay home and not play. Every time I play I exspect or at least hope to win, if not for that no need to play. Have read a lot of your posts hope to meet you one day. Joey

Discussion: ON MY HONOR 3

Never will understand anyone especially a grown man much less a senior ball player who already has the hottest bats made would want to shorten the life of his bat for EVEN MORE POWER. Whats up with that???? By our age you should be over the testosterone yrs. THEY ARE HOT ENOUGH, WHY???????? Makes no sense to me. And to put youself at legal risk muck less thinking about hurting someone with a altered bat. WOW to think what some people do for 20ft on a hit.

I WILL NEVER USE OR CONDONE THE USE OF ANY KIND OF ALTERED BAT!!!!!
