The reception was also quite entertaining though my team had to play late and arrived late. Jeff did a great job as coordinating umpire and except for the heat it was a marvelous event. |

My team, Curty Lo's Ladies will be helping to host. Check with Terry H @ headquarters for schedule. Should be a fun international event. The mens team Baystate Bombers 55 is coming the next weekend. |

| Feb. 26, 2011 curty | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: A baserunner giving himself up and leaving field after being declared safe if it were not caught before a dead ball situation, such as the plate umpire calling time, then the runner would be declared out when the ball became live for being off the base. There is no penalty for not being on the base during a dead ball. If the plate umpire also was unaware of the call for some reason, he would naturally call time out, and even aware of the call, should call time when the player entered the dugout. The plate ump would then put the ball in play, calling for the pitch and rule the runner out. |

I don't remember the actual name or author, but if you contact someone at worth they may be able to help. It included stories of presidents and hollywood stars playing with a passion for the game that should be called "Americas Game" as I believe it is the most participant sport of the country. |
| Dec. 19, 2010 curty | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Plate & Mat as Strike I like the plate as a strike because the true strike zone is the area above the plate, shoulder to knee and it seems that in order for the ball to hit the plate it must pass through this zone. this is not necessarily true as by the mentioned curves, low, fast balls, etc, but if not illegal then it meets the requirement. As an umpire the mat takes the questionable call away. As a pitcher it creates a consistent zone and as a hitter it leaves little to "discuss" thereby speeding up at bats. Just how I see it. A good history of softball was around about 6-8 years ago from Worth and it may still be available, but memory escapes me as to actual name of this publication |

My team, baystate bombers+,played 60 major all year without winning anything, but that is where we belong after being moved up from AAA. We didn't think we belonged there especially being from Massachusetts where the season is short, but decided to try it out and see. we didn't win very much, but have enjoyed the experience. phoenix was a disappointment for us,as the West Coast teams were very strong and we were not as competitive as we had hoped, but we will continue to play.I,m a little surprised that such a quality team would not accept the challenge of a higher division and thereby test themselves. Just my thoughts. |

Rose Mofford is a large facility.I'll be there for as long as it takes!! I'm involved in some other activities from 10 'til noon, and will be at the complex most of the day-- managers meeting a must for me. We will have some of the surviving members of the original All American Girls Professional Baseball League ( A League of Their Own) in attendance and they are of primary concern for me. All are welcome and hope to see the new equipment. |

| May 31, 2010 curty | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Should a bat be confiscated this could be a good idea. As a deterrant to intentionally hitting middle. Mishit balls are rarely as "hot" as a well hit shot and give the pitcher a little more wiggle room for protection. Knowing you may lose a bat for the remainder of even a game would surely stop some from goung there. I have talked to many hitters that go box intentionally that say it is the easiest place to get a hit, and these guys would be affected by this rule. These same guys usually carry multiple bats to cover breakage any way. |
