Feb. 9 stick8 1992 posts | For those teams who are looking to play the USSSA Senior World Tournament in St Louis on Sept 7-8 I just received these rules from our UIC: DIVISIONS & HR RULES: Major Plus: 10 hrs-any hit after is an out Competitive: 6 hrs-any hit after is an out Recreational: 2 hrs-any hit after is an out GAME RULES: --65 min time limit in pool play, 70 min time limit in bracket play --teams may score 5 runs/inning plus the open (unlimited) inning --for the recreational level only if a team is ahead by 15 runs after 5 innings they will be declared the winner by run rule --for 65+ only teams may use 11 fielders --no sliding or diving GOING INTO first or the scoring (home) plate--an automatic out. sliding and diving is allowed if a runner is GOING BACK to first, second or third. --pitching arc is 6' from the ground to 10' from the ground --players may bat as many as they want however if someone drops out of the lineup an automatic out will be declared --teams may start with 9 players--an out will be declared in the 10th spot. However, teams may add a 10th at any time. PITCHING SCREEN -there will be a pitching screen in front of the pitcher--the screen must be 6' high by 3' wide and must be placed at least 47' from home plate --if a batted ball hits the screen for the first time it is a dead foul ball. If the batter hits it the second time it's a dead ball out --if a pitcher is NOT behind the screen and gets hit it is a live ball, ALL OTHER RULES ARE CONSISTENT WITH SENIOR SOFTBALL |

Feb. 9 stick8 1992 posts | cal50, not certain at this point. Isn't your team from St Louis? |
Feb. 9 cal50 Men's 50 328 posts | Yes, we are planning on playing in it. |
Feb. 9 JDub Men's 60 206 posts | USSSA Masters Seniors World Tournament 9/6/2013 - World Tournament Slow-Pitch Mens 50 & Over Comp Tournament information from: Mike O'Donnel, Slow Pitch Missouri State Director 636-232-3219 http://members3.boardhost.com/TheOldScout/msg/1360440486.html http://members3.boardhost.com/TheOldScout/msg/1360440913.html http://www.usssa.com/sports/FindTourn2.asp?optSelection=2&WTD=Tournament&ParkID=0&CID=725&CID=726&State=43&StatureID=4%2C7&TypeID=0&SeasonID=17&BeginDate=2%2F1%2F2013&EndDate=10%2F1%2F2013 |
Feb. 9 JDub Men's 60 206 posts | Current KAYAK Pricing on Flights from PHX to STL is $242 Round-Trip . . . |
Feb. 9 wagon487 Men's 55 578 posts | Senior bats allowed? Last year it was utrip bats only. |
Feb. 9 JDub Men's 60 206 posts | You will need to call Mike, as his post on the Old Scout doesn't Specify Bats and/or Balls . . . |
Feb. 9 Tim Millette 615 posts | Senior bats are allowed in USSSA now. NSA. ASA and USSSA a made the jump to senior bats. I am with jdub.....I miss the USSSA pitching. I am talking with our team about going to st louis... |
Feb. 11 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Looking at they bats allowed this am I did not see any of the most poplular bats listed on the good to go list...U2, combat cent, twilight, Ambush , or B1, But did notice many good bats on there. Just did not see senior bats most of us use. Link follows. http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-general/legalbats.asp |
Feb. 11 JDub Men's 60 206 posts | ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, ISF follow the 1.20 BPF Standard. All Senior Bat's follow the 1.21 BPF Standard . . . |
Feb. 11 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | So it seems taits is correct. 90% of the bats that SSUSA players now use will not be legal in this tournament. |
Feb. 11 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Don't forget many senior bats are stamped 1.20. Best to ask in writing ahead of time, so your not 'surprised' when you get there... |
Feb. 12 JDub Men's 60 206 posts | Clarification/Correction: ASA uses the BBS Standard (98 MPH), which does meet the 1.20 BPF standard (100 MPH) used by the USSSA, NSA, ISF and other associations, including SSUSA . . . |
Feb. 12 JDub Men's 60 206 posts | Additional Clarification: Here is the link to the SSUSA "Modification in Bat Standard." SSUSA BPF was increased to 1.21, but I believe Senior Bats still use the 1.20 Stamp . . . http://seniorsoftball.com/?messageboard&viewby_thread=51214&message_topic_id=bats |
Feb. 12 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | taits, from the complaints on this site from power hitters about lack of durability of composites, I assumed everyone had broken the old 1.20 stamped and was now using their new 1.21 bat. But maybe JDub is right, and new bats continue to have the 1.20 stamp, even though they are now hotter??! Does that make sense? Don't know from personal experience because I have been fortunate to have a couple of long-lasting composites (might have something to do with the fact that I only hit a few home runs a season:=) |
Feb. 12 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Maybe its all marketing strategy. The makers know they will all be bought, and since you can't get both performance and durability without compromising part of one, I think many mix those components amongst the models to get more sales. |
