I've seen mentioned about changing the ball. Is the same ball being used for the 2009 season as was used in 2008? What was the 2008 ball in comparison to people pushing the 275/525? Going to a softer ball will further gap the distance between the Major & Major+ category.

HIT IT: The last few years, SS-USA, has been using one ball & not many balls. Since 2004 or so, SS-USA, has been buying SS-USA'S, softball from ANACONDA SPORTS.
In the past, when SS-USA, had an event, the town or local tournament balls were used. This caused a great deal of destress. Some balls used were ok & other softballs were socks.

In the last few years the ball used, has been a 44 cor ball with a 375 comp. The comp was plus or minus 5%. Anaconda Sports, offered SS-USA, a ball that was better in hot climate. That ball was still a 44 cor ball with a 375 comp. This present ball that SS-USA, is using. has a MCT. MCT= Micro Cell Technology.

The Trump, 44 cor ball with a 375 comp ball, has an impact or over 1900 PSI. An impact of over 1200 to 1400 PSI, caused massive injuries / death.

In 2003 / 2004, the softball world went stupid. That is when the use of the 40 & 44 cor balls , started. ASA'S, present softball in used has an impact of around 2900 PSI.

The ball that Anaconda Sports, has been designing, was never ment or designed for Senior Ball. This 52 cor ball with a 275 comp, has an impact of 400-500 PSI. This ball travels 10 % slower thru the infield.

40 & 44 cor balls are not safe. These are very hard balls. Test & Data, proves that the 40 & 44 cor balls, "drives" in a bat. Which causes the bat to flex. When a ball "drives" into a bat, the ball stays on the bats' barrel longer. This causes a GREAT TRAMPOLINE; i.e.- a higher B.B.S.

Per SS-USA'S own web site, inwhich many ball makers; including Trump / Anaconda Sport, were against the 40 & 44 cor balls.

A higher B.B.S., causes a ball to travel farther & faster thru the infield. 40 cor balls, travel 3.57 MPH, faster thru the infield than a 47 cor ball. LESS REACTION TIME, for infielders & pitchers.

The 47, 50, & 52 cor balls have some elastic / rebound characteristic. What does this mean? When a ball has some "rebound", that ball does not "drive' or stay on a bats' barrel as long. This means that the ball does not TRAMPOLINE, as much. In other words, the B.B.S. & speed of a ball, OFF a bat is less. MORE TIME TO REACT, once a ball has been hit.

1) 52 cor balls are the safest balls. (Compaired to a 40 or 44 cor ball.)
2) Impact by a 52 cor ball, will cause "much" less damage to the human body. ( Compaired to the 40 or 44 cor balls.)
3) 52 cor balls, traveler slower thru the infield; hopefully, less injuries; more defense; more double plays; etc.
4) As far as Home Runs-
i) less mishit home runs over the fense.
ii) there will be no need for over the limit H.R. for outs.
iii) with the 5 runs per inning, many Major teams will be able to play against the Major Plus teams & compete?
One hopes so!

The questions not, but, ones that should have been asked? If, the 52 dor ball is used ............
1) which age groups?
2) which divisions? All? (Major & Major Plus, only.)
3) what about womens? 65 & older ?

One can believe this or not...... SS-USA, is listening to their members / players.

THiJ: It appears that maybe you are the one who some guy spoke of pushing these "safer" balls. But, though I totally disagree with your opinion, I apprecitate you taking the time in a non-negative way to present your feelings. I have played in the "open" (under-40) for the past 15 years and am very familiar with the changes in both bats & balls. Last year at "B" Worlds in Orlando, the new "conference" ball was used. I believe it was a 275comp ball. Everyone HATED the ball. Yes, it was hot & humid, but the ball was horrible. Scores were below 10 runs a game with not many teams at all even able to hit their 3 allotted HR's. Scores of 3-1, 2-0, 6-4 were all too common. Softball is a game about scoring, unlike hardball where is is a pitchers game. A few weeks later, the "D" Worlds were in Orlando (the same time as the Major) and I witnessed once again, people outraged and not happy at all. Again, most scores were single digit games eniding in 30 minutes or less. Fun? Most outfielders were standing on the "co-ed" lines and squeezing batters something horribly. Many sponsors were saying they will not support this again and look elsewhere to play (NSA, ISA, etc) I beleive your comment of the Major & Major+ being closer competative is further from the truth. The more powerful teams will prevail, if not hitting them over the fence, at lest htiing over outfielders heads and expanding the distance of the field to play while lessore power teams will be cheated and pinched.
I thought SSUSA was about using good equipment & allowing players to hit & score. If SSUSA goes with a dead ball, they will lose players, teams & sponsors alike. Why not just go play "E" ball in the men's open division? No different. All this talk about safety? Can anyone give me a direct percentage of number of plate appearances from every player that played this past season and how many sever injuries occurred to pitchers? I bet it's right about the same as being struck by lightning. Life is not without risk, especially any type of sport. There was much greater risk flying in the airplane & driving to the field than you getting stuck and seriosly injured on the playfield, no matter what ball is used.

HIT IT:There are many, who wish to see needed changes. Changes that will help Senior enjoy the game more.
Data, speaks for its own self.

Stay, on the subject; Senior Ball & not what was done in USSSA, etc. Do you remember, what the brand of Ball uesd, in Fla? What was thats ball cor? What type of cor balls was used?

I personnal, have not hit this 52 cor ball with a 275 comp.
"Yes, it was hot & humid, but the ball was horrible." If, the data that I have read & research is ture, than the hot & humid, weather will not effect this ball that Trump, is "trying" to develope. Why? It's in the fact that the cor of this ball, is 52.

I heard much about that weekend. In D's, there were 270 teams or so, no Home Runs at all. Average score of those games were 6 runs. Most runs score by any team was 17 runs.

Hopefully, the Seniors that played in that All Star, TOC, game will enlighten us all, on their thoughts on that 52 cor ball, with a 275 comp.

If, this ball goes thru the infield slower & if, one miss hits this ball, Seniors will see more double plays & fewer Home Runs. Again, with Major Plus teams allowed only 5 runs & not 7 runs per inning; excluding the open inning; only time will tell if, a few more Major teams can compete & beat a strong Major Plus team.

One rule that should help even out Major teams compaired to Major Plus, after 10 Home Runs, the 11th, one is an out. Yes, this rule does suck.

HIT IT; SS-USA, again is not STUPID. SS-USA, is well awear of what happens (ISSA & SPA); when the ball & bat combination is poor.

"no matter what ball is used." This ball will cause less server injuries, to players. I heard that Grollia Boy, hit Dave Dowell, on the hip, with a one hopper. Should this 52 cor ball be used in the Men's 40's, & 50-55 Major Plus division?

NCAA, Little league Baseball, & MLB, have all made changes; changes to make Baseball a safer sports. Is it time for Senior Softball?

What has LLB, gone & done. (Old BPF, was 1.20) The youth, were allowed to swing lighter bats, do to R & D. This caused the BBS, to increase. Smaller or younger children have been able to swing the lighter bats. In order to allow the children to swing a bat that was more to ones liking; the BPF, was lowered. The lighter bats, ones that our youth were able to swing were keeped, but, the BPF, got lowered.

It is true, that Males are four times more likely to get hit with lighting. Odds are 1 in 2.3 millon or so.

Nice post, back to you HIT IT.

HIT IT: I talked to an old friend from Kansas & the USSSA, man in Florida. The ball used last year was a Dudley 40 cor ball with a 300/325 comp.

Jim & Don, both stated the same reason for that sock being used. That reason? "As long as players continue to bring & use Altered & Illegal bats, USSSA, would continue to supply a much lesser ball."

Here we have USSSA, wanting a poor preforming balls. This is not the case with SS-USA.

As far as the bat & ball issue, if, ASA, NSA, ISA, ISSA, USSSA, SS-USA, etc, the present day bats can & should be left alone. All one needs to do is find the right ball.

From an "un-named e-mail", just sent to me. The 52 cor ball works better in the heat. Also, for the 2009 season, SS-USA, will be using the Trump 44 cor ball, same ball as last year.

Thanks THiJ, Yes, i did also see that the "conference ball that was used.....was a 40cor 300comp ball. It was HORRIBLE! I have even heard this years conference ball my be even lower to a 40cor 275 comp ball. I really didn't see a problem in 2008 with the senior ball. Sure, when the temperature dropped in early morning or late night it really flew. But, 80% of the games I felt it was right there. Glad they stayed the same for this year. But, I will be interested in hitting one of the 52cor balls to see what it is like. Again, thanks for the input.

Hi Jack,
You are the most knowledgeable person
ever encountered on this website re balls and specs.
Yet, who said that problem or the answer is/has to be about the balls?
Balls that don't respond directly to being hit hard and square
SIMPLY WON'T WORK.
Hitting the ball hard and seeing/feeling/getting immediate results
is 1 to 1 with true softball satisfaction
albeit Senior or open.
Making the ball safer by slowing it down
is not and will never be a viable solution.
There's a lot of investment in the "change the ball Juggernaut"
but no one, did I say no one, yes I did.
No one I know wants to play with a ball that doesn't respond to being hit
square and hard.
No one.

HIT IT: No problem. I am not sure if, this ball will get picked up (used), by ASA, or any other association. Only time will tell.

Hi JOE: At the TOC, last week, all kinds of infor, was keeped. If, there is a problem, several things can or can not or should not be done. One thing, yes, one thing that almost erveryone will agrees on, leave the 1.20 Bats alone.

How was softball ment to be? It is nice to hit for high averages, see more Home Runs, & higher scores. If, I do recall, the days of the wooden bat came & went. Then the days of the Single Wall bats, also, came & went. Then the Double Wall & now, it is the day of the Composite bats.

MLB, has also, gone thru Bat & Ball changes, thru out the past 100 years. NCAA Baseball, Little League Baseball, & others have gone thru changes due to R & D.

LLB, this year will lower the BPF down to 1.15. Why? LLB, several years ago, got rid of the On-Deck-Batter Box. Why?

In the day of the Wooden Bat, Cork Balls were used. Today, there are three basic types of Softballs. Cork balls & todays Composite Bats, would be a terrible mix.

Mishitting a ball, should not be rewarded with a H.R., either. Joe, if, one has not hit the "NEW" 52 cor ball, one may not want to pass judgement so quickly.

What is wrong with: 1) More Defense? 2) A Ball that will almost never cause massive trama? 3) Less cheap H. R.s? 4) A ball that might, thats might, bring more fun back to Sofball? Enable more teams at different levels to compete?

Joe, can we both agree on this; If, a "NEW" ball is out there, let the Senior players choose the ball. Seniors do not want the Bat, 1.20 BPF changed & Seniors do not want a Ball crammed down Seniors throat. Most Seniors(?), also, do not want to see H.R.s, turned into OUTS.

THi-J... allow me to speak for Mr. Einstein, since he loves to speak for the rest of us all the time... In a word, Ego... Mr. Einstein fashions himself as a home-run hitter, and he doesn't want to lose that... Major league baseball players used HGH and steroids to do the same thing... just ask Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, etc... Mr.Einstein's drug of choice is a hot bat/ball combination so that he can do what he can't do without it.

#19: There is no need, is there to ride Joe? Joe, is trying to look after many of "our" interests.

On the subject of HGH. This is one of the best supplements out there. HGH, cost over $600 a month. One can get a prescription for this hormone. HGH, gives the body the ability to produce HIGHER hormone levels. Levels such as the levels humans had in their younger days.

Doctors, AMA, AMJ, etc, have found that as humans get older, humans hormones level decrease. A decrease in hormones, is also, a sign of aging. There is nothing wrong with humans, having hormone levels, of a 35 or 40 year old human. As far as men, many men in their 50's, have lower HGH levels. It is not uncommon, for 50 year olds to have hormone levels, that of a normal 70 year old man.

But, many people, young & old, do & will abuse HGH. That is why HGH, is listed as a drug & the Feds, do regulate HGH. HGH, can & does prolong health, as well as life.

This is why, since 1980 or so, Wellness Centers, have been growing thru out the US. The cost to go to a Wellness Center, two years ago was $1700.

Please, leave Mr. McGwire out of this subject. The bottle of ANDROSTENEDIONE, that was in Mark's, locker does not have the same effect as Steriods.

Please read: THE TESTOSTERONE ADVANTAGE PLAN", by Lou Schuler. "Studies of androstenedione supplements have shown that the recommended dosage don't improve body composition ( the percent of fat versus muscle) or strength. They do, however, increase ESTROGEN levels."

This supplement increase Estrogen, which causes Gynecomastia. Laymens term--- Breast Growth. Over a years ago, the FDA, took Andro, off the ban substance list. MLB, still has Andro, on the ban substance list for MLB.

#19- Again, someone has attempted to speak for "us", so let me say you do carry weight with "me", or at least your recent post does. Which got me to thinking, and doing a little bit of digging, about some interesting comments made by someone known as "Anonymous." I was impressed at how much more he or she has to offer than some of the statements made here by "known" idiots. They fall into the "life in general" category and, apparently, the "ssusa message board" category, too. I maybe should have posted these in the famous quotes thread, but they seem more appropriate here in light of the unfair criticism you got.

#19: Nice question. If, I may. Joe, & many others do not need to be defended. Joe, & others can speak. I will try & look thru the forest for the trees. A message is a message. Some statements may or may not be correct, proper, etc. Can I not, be allowed to judge for myself?

True or False? On the many subject discussed, many do see the same light as Joe. At time, Joe's, thoughts are far from my inane thoughts.

On the subject of Mark McQuire.
1) Mark, was out of baseball.
2) Why, should Mark, answer questions for Congress? That
Congressional Hearing, was nothing more than a Witch
Hunt.
3) Baseball & Congress had, even today, nothing on
Mark.
4) If, Mark, would have come forward with anything, Mark,
could be held Incompetent of Congress, liable, or Sued.
Look what has happened to Roger Clemens.
# 19, would you like to have the FBI, looking into
anything & everthing, concerning ones life, etc.
5) No matter what Mark, said, there would always be some
person, calling Mark, a lier. Then the Senate & FBI gets

About Mark McGuire... there is just too much of a coincidence that McGuire's best statistics occurred in the late 90s, when steroids were being widely used, when he was in his early to middle 30s, a time when a professional athlete is normally on a slow but steady decline.

Hitler and Stalin would have thought so, too.

Anonymity in discussion disconnects us from one another
though fashionable by today's standards breeds a perspective
that allows us to objectify rather than personalize.
We become objects instead of human beings to one another

mad dog- Mr. einstein has a belief, actually supported by a good body of credible research, that persons are more accountable and, accordingly, more likely to reveal their true beliefs when they are specifically identifiable. In many, but not all instances, he is largely correct.

Mr. einstein is a bit of an idealist (personal opinion), and seeks to impose that identification theory to ALL posters here, primarily through either belittling those who wish to protect their privacy or secondarily by dismissing anything they might type as not worthy of consideration, regardless of meritorious content. I am unwilling to grant him license to judge or ignore my posts solely on whether he is able to reply to me on a first name basis. He may certainly ignore them as he wishes, but not under the false front of 'no ID, no merit'.

This is where he and I differ sharply. This forum, and many like it on the internet, does not require anything other than a currently working e-mail address to register. It's not the best system there is, but it's the one we have here to express our views. I have revealed my age group and town, and am a registered ssusa player. For personal and, to a limited degree, professional reasons (my career is in the behaviorial sciences education area at the university level), I choose to keep my name private. Many others here feel the same as either Mr. einstein or I do on this issue, and that's fine with me either way. Even one of his friends here was a victim of identity theft from postings derived from this forum, so his identity is now guarded. Good for him, and I wish him continued security. Mr. einstein, and many others know who this person is, but many of us do not. It's not important either way to me.

Regardless, I post responsibly (I hope) and evaluate others' postings based on the merit of their thoughts expressed and the skill with which they express them. To me, that's the only criteria anyone should use, absent any other personal agenda. Learn from what you like, ignore what you don't, but don't apply some artificial criteria to the mix to fulfill your own desire to be perceived as the moral compass of the message board.

I am confident and hopeful that I have fairly expressed Mr. einstein's position, and if I haven't, I apologize. Since I'm not one of the full disclosure people, we may never know!

ok sorry hij to get off track there.i have seen the 52 ball(haven't hit it tho)and it is a lively ball.if it hadn't been raining i would of been able to hit it :(:(.i wish i could of gone to TOC and hit it.from what i've heard if you hit it right it will still travel.it does take away the cheapies(and god knows i've hit a few of them).why does taking away the cheapie scare people.i for one like to hit it out,but i can't blo smoke up your butt when a cheap one goes, thats stupid and i'll even admitt it when i thought it shouldn't of gone.if your hr hitter the ball will still go,if your not,oh well get over it.

again to appolgize for the off track post above,as in the hr and ball thing get over it if people don't want thier personal info out there.

yes i know 4x4,einstein,hij and 2 of the 3 have no personal info so what,ok.
