Tim...Senior softball is fairly new to me..What do you mean "launch position"..I am familiar with "launch angle" in golf...I am basically a line drive hitter with occasional pop and I find this subject interesting...
?: Rose.Ruth etc are trying to hit a 90 mph fastball...Slowpitch is a little different, but I understand your point..

This may have been discussed before but I am curious..Reasons for open or closed batting stance. I see both and personally I am a closed stance hitter..Any comments..
Thanks

surf..Having been a runner mosat of my life.(19 Marathons, 4 Ironmans and many many other races)..I'm glad you are better. have always and will always warm up for at least 20-30 minutes prior to game. I was a sprinter in HS and had a great coach that always pushed us to warm up properly...I realized that I had abnormally large hammys (skinny upper body...big legs )..I stretch 2 times a day and have for almost 50 years and knck on wood have had minimal muscle issues..Find what works for you and STICK WITH IT...I am now 64 and ALWAYS RUN FOR MYSELF ( and others also :-o)

G19..Basic question..basic answer..If we are spotted 5 and win by 2...Nope..We lost..The only thing we won was on paper..Just my .02..

Discussion: THE NEED FOR SEVEN INNINGS

Had a simlar situation on a Thursday night league game..Opposing team down 6..Bottom of 6...They score 6 for the tie..Since it was the last game, the Ump asks if we would like to keep playing..We agree and score 6 more..Bottom half..they score 6 again...Ump asks again same question..We keep playing and we score 3..They come up and score 4 to win the game..Neither team wanted to quit is the moral of the story...We would have played as long as we could so 7 innings is not a stretch..Would have been a better story if we would have won..

Gary19::: I understand what the point is..But for me personally..I get a call or e-mail from my Manager..He tell us where and when..The cost for me is usually minimal..Except for Vegas and Reno..But after all the years off, I am just glad that I am playing...I'm neither good enough or smart enough to worry about the particulars...:-o)

southernson: You are correct in that assumption but no one forces you to play..I have no issue with a level playing field and I also think the people that put these events on do the best they can with what they have..Bottom line for me is..I want to play..I am new to Senior Softball after 15 years off and if I showed up to a tourney and found out that there were only Major/Major+ teams that we had to play with no 5 run rule (The team I play for is AA)..I would still go out and play. We would probably get our arses hande to us..But I would still play..I try not to worry about things I have no control over..For me personally I would not want to be a Manager..(Been there..Done that for many years in the 80's & 90's )...Nothing personal and we can agree to disagree..Tom

Discussion: 5 run spot that allows 6 runs per inning to lower rated teams

I play in a lower AA Division, mostly due to lack of talent and just getting back into the game after 15 years off..We have been spotted runs and hammered the other team, been hammered and won games by the 5 run rule..At the end of the day...I know whether we won or not...NOT BY THE SCORE..but by my score...I just play with whatever is the rule, but that doesn't mean I feel we won a game when we were spotted 5 and won by 1...Just my .02..I play hard, aggressive and always run for myself..

I personally don't dwell on the reasons..Just move on to the next game and go again..Rinse and repeat..There are always reasons but I just figure the best team won that day..

Discussion: what's the best senior bat, gave up on the gsc promises.

Alan...Mostly road but some MTB.. But I have also done Some Ironman Tri's and 1/2s along with 18 Marys and a bunch of 1/2 Marys..Not doing a lot of that these days but continue to run 4-5 times a week and cycle 2-3 times monthly..This is what allows me to play Softball 2-3 times a week and tourneys without geting fatigued..Speed took a while to come back but finally did...and BTW I'll be 64 in 2 months and (this for gari19). I always run for myself :-o)

garyh..That's what I'm talking about..I'm in the same boat as you..But I use a bat, if it works, I just stay with it. I spend my cash on what I enjoy..Softball and Golf are my fav's and I don't go the cheap route on either..Same as my cyling and running..Buy the best and don't worry about the rest..
