Tom, I haven't been out much lately. I had to go back to work full time.

In the summer, they start with an hour of BP at 7AM then two games at 8 & 9ish. In the winter, it's an hour later.....although, I'm not sure we will have a winter this year. 107 at the end of September??? WTF???

The weather all day Sunday was cool and cloudy. In retrospect, we could have gotten more real games in. Sat was fun though. Watching you clowns take BP in the rain was priceless :)

Discussion: DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS

""""Such was the case for us last weekend. Our failure to make even one of the 3 routine doubleplay chances we had on Sunday morning spelled the difference in a close, 23-22 loss...and elimination from contention.""""

I wouldn't be so quick to pin the loss on whoever blew the DP's in question. These are just memorable "what if" moments that stand out to you.

What about that those two runners left on base in earlier innings? What about that one decision to be agressive that cost an out? what about that time thhe base coach wasn't paying attention and could have sent the runner to score?

This was a one run game and can be equally attributed to any number of offensive or defensive plays throughout the game. Hell, it could have been a simple coaching decision that *might* have made the difference.

Although it is catchy, the old "defense wins championships" thing doesn't really hold true IMO.

Glad to hear you had a good time and are still kickin Dennis.

Discussion: Should a bat be confiscated

"" why doesn't a senior association confiscate a bat when a pitcher is hit with a batted ball?""

Simple really.

The hottest bats available are LEGAL in senior ball.

Shaving an Ultra would be silly. So would shaving another bat to perform like an Ultra.

Discussion: To screen or not to screen...

Curveball. Can I take your offer?

Hell, I'll throw some pitches to anyone using a wood bat in exchange for a free vacation :)

I used to pitch a lot but finally took the advice to play somewhere else. I stil love to pitch in lower level play where I know I'm not going to take one to the face. Modern technolgy is freakin dangerous.

In response to the OP, a screen would certainly not make me stop playing. It affects every player in the same way so I have no issue with it. I wouldn't vote for it but I wouldn't vote against it.

I am going to Vegas for work.

There is an annual trade show with all the new lighting stuff.

Is there a senior tournament that weekend?

Thanks Ken.

I just got my income tax refund yesterday so the timing is good :)

Since the bat was so flimsy, I don't know if he wants another one so I will just get him the cash.

I'll be in Prescott this weekend and Vegas the next so I can't get to Ray/I-10 on Sunday. Can I meet up with someone during the week to take care of it?

I know. I used to dent and break several bats a year but it's been years since I've done any damage.

Batting practice last weekend with some guys from another team. One guy had a red Ultra that looked pretty new.

I'm in the market for a new U2 so I asked him if I could swing it. He said yes and......yep, somewhere in the 15/20 balls I hit.... the bat broke.

Do I owe him a new bat? Half a bat?

I am asking the question but I know what I need to do.

Hey Kenny. Can you find out what the weight was on Bubba's bat. I need to replace it.

Discussion: Screens Needed? Read This.

A Loudoun County (Virginia) man died Saturday after a freak accident on the softball diamond.

Well-known custom home builder George Crisp, 55, was pitching in adult softball game when a ball was batted back at him.
"George pitched the ball, the guy hit a line drive toward him, he turned his head to avoid it -- just like you would, tried to put his glove up," said Crisp's friend David Pittman, a pastor at Temple Baptist Church in Herndon, Va. "Didn't get his glove up in time and it hit him right here, right underneath the ear."

The line drive hit Crisp in the throat, just below his jaw, rupturing his carotid artery. Blood flooded his brain in seconds. Crisp, a father of six, died a few hours later in a local hospital.

"It happened so quickly," Pittman said. "In just one 12-hour period and he's gone from being the life of the party to being in home in heaven."

""JONCON, your already on the team GLORY DAZE.""

I was waiting for you to chime in Ricky Lee.

It's common knowledge that Glory daze has been is disarry for about a year now. Several players have moved to teams that can consistantly field a team. Several others are on the bubble.

Glory Daze has always been a great group of guys but some of us want to play more than a few times a year.

DD.

IMHO, OBP is and the only one that really matters.

First, it's simple. The only questionable call I can imagine is if a runner ahead of the batter lolly gagged and resulted in a fielders choice.

Second, it rewards those who are patient enough to wait for good pitches and , gasp, take a walk.

A player may have a lucky game and end up on base via 4 errors but, in the long run, things even out and he will hit four line drives that the opponents catch purely by accident.

Also, one playes luck is not going to be any different than anothers in the long run.
