There is probably more to the story.

I am assuming you were still pissed at the first call and were being a bit of a dick on your next at bat.

It doesn't generally pay to be confrontational, especially toward an umpire.

You could have simply been friendly with the ump and let him know that you didn't want to repeat your mistake from last inning.

Also, if you made any reference to his carnal knowledge of his mother or any reference to his sexual orientation, that would be the time to aplogize.

THEN you could have drawn a line 6" in and from the edge and 30" in front of the center of the plate and asked him if that looked about right.

4th of July, a couple years ago, playing with the kids. One of the wives took some pretty good photos.

Tue and Fri mornings @ 8AM.

Horizon Park in North Scottsdale.

90th Street, North of Frank Lloyd Wright

They may still be in South Scottsdale at Eldorodo (Miller, North of McDowell) or Yavapi (Miller, South of Mcdowell) but I heard they were moving to Horizon soon.

BP for an hour, followed by two games.

Two divisions. Old guys and really old guys. Usually four teams, sometimes (winter months) six.

This topic is closed.... heh heh. Wanna bet?

I've done stuff WAY more stupid than that. I suspect that many of us have.

If he was trying to cheat, he's not very good at it.

I would have to be there to gauge the reaction from the offending team to know for sure.

All I'm saying is...I've seen and done similar things. Schit happens.

I don't know why you are worried so much about this or why you think it was some underhanded, evil plan to cheat.

It was more than likely just a senior moment.

Half the guys I play with now can't remember what they had for lunch or how many outs there are in the inning.

No matter what happened, if he did score, the run would not have counted if someone was paying attention and keeping a book.

I remember staying on 2B one time after I had been forced out (years ago, before I was old).

The ump didn't notice, nor did anyone on either team. I didn't realize it until I "scored" and, later, talked to the scorekeeper when the number of outs came into question.

Sounds like a senior moment.

No harm, no foul.

Everybody laughing at him is punishment enough.

Simple.

Bases loaded, 2 outs, tie score and the pitcher is ejected and banned for life for being a doosh.

Like most organizations, I don't think that any of the senior softball associations really give a crap about an individual player.

The logic of your situation may make perfect sense but they don't want to take the heat when some crybaby says "He played on a major team" when they get beat by your new team.

There is a senior tourney this weekend. Go to the park(s), meet some old guys and see what's up.

I don't know all the schedules but I'm playing at Papago on Sat and Victory Lane on Sunday.

Discussion: How many guys have had the pleasure of playing with their son(s)?

My son got me started and I still play league with him once or twice a week.

I had the pleasure of informing him that he will be eligible for Senior ball (50's) in 11 years. I can't wait :)

I should also be able to squeeze in a few games with the grandsons in 8 - 10 years. I am really looking forward to that.

Discussion: How did you get your start in softball?

I played a couple years of Little League when I was 9 and 10, then took a short break.

When I was 45/46, my son asked if I wanted to play league softball. 13 years later and I still really enjoy the game.

And....one pitch is taking it too far. Too much pressure on the pitcher. It's not easy to throw a strike EVERY time.

It's not just to speed up the game in terms of minutes played, but to speed up the PACE.

It sucks to stand there in the field watching potentially 6 pitches before you get to play.

We aint gettin any younger. Pitch strikes and swing the bat!! :)

Discussion: SAD DAY FOR SOFTBALL

To the original post, thay didn't HAVE to go to Phoenix, they chose to come here.

I've been playing with a marginal 50's AA team that, due to a specific set of circumstances that we were responsible for, got bumped to AAA. We have struggled all year and when words came around, the majority of the team simply chose not to play.

"""I have always taken a pitch till I get One strike. Starting 1-1 changes the way I hit"""

You are "That Guy" :)

I don't understand how 1 n 1 can change the way you hit? Just pretend you have seen two pitches, a ball and a strike. All you are doing is slowing the game down. I want you to swing he bat so I have a chance to get you out so I can go swing the bat!!

I understand taking a walk if there is nothing to swing at and I applaud the batters that have a good eye. I also understand trying to draw a walk if the game situation calls for it, but the fact is, this game is no fun until someone swings the bat.

This is slow pitch. One and one count should be standard practice.
