Wood i realize they had a task force discuss these matters last year that affected M+.At which time we were a major team so we had no input at that time.In the mean time we got moved up to M+ thats fine we think we were a better fit in M+ because we were a more power oriented team good pitching shakey defence(how much D can you play with 9 catchers)but because of the extra home runs in M+ we thought that it would suit us better. Now with 12 hr limit we could be done in the first couple innings. We have been beaten bad by some good single hitting teams AKA Coors Lite on a regular basis. So really there is not a good fit for us anywhere,so what now rebuild team or bail? IMO i would like to see unlimited HRS, 7 run per inning last inning unlimited.Like Vegas last year.PPR is not needed im M+.With unlimited HRS.Thanks for feed back Wood,i feel it's speak now or forever hold your peace.so i'm making my plea.

Einstein ,we are just about to get started practicing for 09.Did I say practice, were talking about practice,Sorry couldn't resist A.I. ref.We will start hitting indoors soon as far as defence,we don't play any so we don't pratice it.Looking at another 60 days before we can get outside and than it will be touch and go.But we did pick up a couple more wooly mammouths for this year.
good luck buddy

after reading a post of this quality, you have to ask yourself are we as a organization really useing all our resources.lets think about this.in M+ there are 16 teams, that would total about 250 players and coaches.represented by a small few who make the rules and another small group who get on the message board (like myself) and complain about it.leaving the other couple hundred to churn in the wash.how hard would it be to pole 16 coaches in M+ for example(seeings how this is were the trouble seems to lie) and ask their teams opinion before putting it in ink.not saying that ssusa would be bound in anyway to results but could take advantage of some valuble insight from their customers.i believe that an organazation is only as strong as it's members ,we are talking about judges,lawyers,teachers,principals,bussinessmen,corp.execs.small bussiness owners, cops, blue collar guys, preachers and on and on.i know of one person who has taken it upon his self to help start a crusade to try to organize the M+ teams to show up at a select few tournys together this is the kind of things we need like communication remember the customer is always right.

Einstein the snow is knee deep and super sunday was our first day above freezing in two weeks other than that things are grand.Trying to put roster together for 09 having hard time getting rid of guys as you might have noticed i am a sucker for big catchers we already have 9 catchers and Stick and Sully in the outfield and i have my eye on a couple more so 11 catchers and two out fielders for next year surly this new homerun rule won't help us.James thanks for the comments.I have a 87 SS Aero Coupe Monte Carlo, back halfed with a 414 stroker best pass 9.91 @ 142 mph.All motor no laugh'in gas.Good luck this year.

Einstein my friend,I feel your pain.I know there has been some talk of us (Gekle)retooling some to better match the rules. But I have to ask myself, should I have to get rid guys on my team because they are 6'4'' 305 and are pure home run hitters because of limitations.Where do they play,We are playing M+ but still we have limitations.Because we have brideled our biggest and best now do we start another rating for these guys M++ and allienate another group of willing participants. Not only are these guys big but they are also my friends and the reason I spend countless hours and dollars to participate in senior softball. They ask us to move up O.K. we did now they say lets change the rules now your here to make your team obsolete.I have not been involved in much of the chatter about this subject. But after seeing the affects of these rule changes to my players and friends like einstein I wonder where we are going from here.I hope we get this right.Or M+ plus might go down to 16 teams.I have a Bass boat, 9 sec. drag car,and a perfectly good set of golf clubs collecting dust. And have fun with all of them if softball is no longer any fun guess where I will be.

Discussion: RULE CHANGES...COMMENTS

We have lost our minds!Let me understand this topic. We put in the best balls money can buy we add to that the hottest bats ever manufactured and than we hit it over the fence to often and it's an out? This is like trying to put a fire out with gasoline. If we don't want people hitting home runs than why all the hi-tech equipment? The solution is obvious.Down grade the ball to keep those that are not true home run hitters in the park and those who can really hit it will still get them over the fence. But not balls that they don't get all of. We played in the ISF World Cup last year useing ASA bats and a bad Badden ball.Needless to say the ball was not jumping out of the park,we have some good power on our team and we were reduced to a base hitting team except for a select few who could still get it over.Letting us use these bats and balls of present and than saying we can't hit it out is crazy.Changeing balls would seperate the true boomers from the rest of the field.Useing this equipment and than restricting output is like buying a Fararri with a govenor on it.I don't like were all this is going and from the sounds of it neither does anybody else. These rule changes are good for message board discusstions but not for the game. If you don't want guys hitting home runs why are all the equipment upgrades allowed.Hell maybe we should move the fence back to 350' thats what golf did to offset the new drivers etc...So lets sum this up,we develop new bat and ball tech to hit the ball farther, than make rules to restrict us from doing so.I'm baffled???????I would like to take this oppertunity to wish everyone a HAPPY HOLIDAY from the Gekle Builders Softball Team.Good Luck next year.

Einstein,How are you my friend.wanted to add Carl Underwood to the list you beat me to the punch.Thats who hit behind Bob woldyk in Phx.Carl can hit a long way and doe's not use a UII.Got a guy coming back next year that took last half of last year off (family reasons) Tom Drake you will enjoy watching him hit.All in all I think Woldyk's got the edge.If we are talking consistantcie.500' footers all day.

Dave I think SSUSA intentions are clear with 6 major teams being moved up as of Nov. 1 08 making it 14 total for the year. That they are going to balance the two divions .My only request would be to implement a 7 run limit per inning with 7 open.Or else the games could be real long or real short.5 hr's with one up.To many changes would just be medaling with the rules.

I saw 6 major teams got moved up to major + and a total of 14 teams have been moved up to Major + this year (08) really don't see how the m+ div. has any thing to complain about now.And I believe there will be at least two more coming up.Should make for an interesting year.Look forward to the challenge and good luck to everyone .

Discussion: Up the Middle

According to research done by Danial Russell a prof. of applied physics at Kittering U. the pitcher has exactly .388 sec. to react to a batted from 50 feet away. There is a lot of research to back this up and I will not take credit for finding it.It was passed on to me by someone much smarter than myself. This is with the existing equipment being used by most sanctions including SSUSA.What this tells me is in less than a blink of an eye you could go from alive to dead .If any one would like to view a ton of research on this matter I would be happy to forward this to you as it was forwarded to me.you may contact me at usa50plus@yahoo.com another example of why we need to stay out of the middle.
