There are some companies with more on the ball that will take the lion’s share of the market. It will be very clear in the next four months or so. Thanks you for your input and wisdom. |
| Sept. 9, 2007 batwise | Topic: Bats Discussion: What could this be ??? Stoneman; We agree with you. Seniors do deserve a bat that can last 1000 swings, reasonable cost and a warranty. However I do not think Miken or Combat will answer the call. Miken is longer a K2 company but in the hands of a much larger power that just may cut them in threads if sales do not improve. Combat may not be the answer for as they do make some good bats they are more or less a business blunder. Partly owned by CE here is a company that has done little to nothing with any form of market success or retail sales. These guys should be sitting on top of the softball market but instead just travel about the land with huge guys hitting balls in MLB fields. I think the answer will come from someone else as the first post poem stated. The bat will not be by CE or Miken and made in the USA will be a strong possibility. |

And the big bad bat they pushed from Boombah is now worthless. So if any of you even thought of buying a Boombah bat (a very bad idea mind you) then better check it out. Stick with SSUSA, ASA for your leagues and in terms of bats keep true the brands you know and trust. Boombah – if you are reading this you should buy back every one of those sticks from the customers you just ripped off !!! |

We should all keep in mind the new standards for ASA are very tough and the org Freak is a 100mph bat from the old lack of any standard which means the org freak was one heck of a bat and that kind of performance will not be seen again in ASA or even USSSA play. So the Reaper is really as good as one can get. Again they are made at the same factory but two very different companies. |

So bats sold now would wtill have the USA stamp on them. I am not even sure if the new bats will say 'made in China' or what. |

If the UIC at SSUSA does not understand than he should be man enought to say so. If my back is weak or I just chose to use a lighter bat then that is my right as player. So get on board SSUSA and let's move on to better things like playing for beer. |

Taits; My grand DD uses a Rip It f/p bat and it has all the stamps, 1.20 - ASA, etc and is not at all the like the Senior Elite outlaw bat. She has a 34/26 & 34/25 (strong girl) and plays D1 college softball. Thanks all for your help. I am hoping SSUSA gets the message and clears this up. |
| Aug. 9, 2007 batwise | Topic: Bats Discussion: Fastpitch my a-- ! Two different games,,,,,,same bats. There is no differance for f/p & s/p is bat design or testing. A 33/24 - 34/25 will test the same as a 33/28. If a player has a weak back and wants to use a lighter bat is his choice. The rules posted by Stoneman (thanks) are clear that a bat stamped fastpitch is legal in SSUSA. They should fix this. |
| Aug. 8, 2007 batwise | Topic: Bats Discussion: Fastpitch my a-- ! In our early morning pick up league a player age 74 came to bat with a 34/25 bat. It was a ASA stamped and approved bat but had the words fastpitch on it. Some of the guys had a fit and stated that in senior softball one cannot use a fastpitch bat. I quickly came to the rescue of this poor guy by pointing out there is no such thing as fastpitch or slowpitch bat, just softball bats. This group knows I have been in the bat business for over 30 years but still held fast because according to them SSUSA will not allow a fastpitch bat in play. I told them SSUSA is a professional group of softball gurus and could not make such a rookie mistake. They must know about bats and therefore would allow any softball bat if approved by ASA. So tell SSUSA, can a senior chose to use a lighter bat is wanted. As you well know the only reason a bat has fastpitch on it is purely for marketing and sales at retail stores. |
| Aug. 3, 2007 batwise | Topic: Bats Discussion: Bat Passion ! There has been much talk about if we seniors need hot bats like the U2, Combat, etc or should we just use the normal K Mart special.. I understand and respect the theory of using a normal bat and let the ball land where is should without the help of technology. It is just plain common sense. Yet senior softball is not common and we have no sense when trying to appease our passion for sport. If you offer the average senior player a night on the town with a beautiful woman or a bat that could hit 300 ft, of course, he will take the bat. Hitting a homerun or at least to the fence is the American dream. It is what we thought of as little boys and still desire in our hearts today. We are all envy when we watch a great hitter come to the plate and a part of us is within the ball as it leaves the park. High tech is part of life now. It is here to help us drive, call or even maintain our health so why now let it live the American dream and hit better. I am sure the great hitters of this board, Einstein, Bruce in Ga, Bill Gateley and such would agree that passion and hi-tech is good for the soul and want to see more dreams come true. |
