donll, some of the best players in the country are picked up for specific tourneys when there own team isn't playing for example.(could be for all tourneys other than SSUSA for example) The team that picks them up doesn't drop anyone. They just insert him into the #4 hole, win the tourney, and send him back cross many states where he plays again with his own team till called on again. This created no extra players. Now, other teams could do the same thing with other players from that group that isn't in the tournament, but the majority can't afford that kind of expense to get a ballplayer travel expenses that would be needed.
The pick ups are usually "TOP OF THE LINE" individuals, the recognised studs of the sport who happen to be quite a bit better than most, not just better by the slightest bit.
If you have the best team in the nation. And you add the best HR hitter in your age group in the nation to your clean up position, did you improve? Yup. Did you create any more ballplayers for other teams to help them? Nope.
I think most of these are a lot higher budget teams than you imagine. They are the elite that further distance themselves from the rest of the field.
It further makes the playing field unlevel.

No, it makes the sponsored top of the division even tougher to compete with, creats further imbalance, more top heavy.
If you already have an 18 man roster and are the best team by far in the country, and you pick up the best 2 individual players from your geographic area (West/East), how would that help the division by increasing numbers? I don't see it. It just makes it more difficult for the remainder of the teams to compete. There just aren't a lot of teams/players that are willing to spend travel money and time to not have the chance to be competitive. You'll only go and be "the woopin' boy" so long. I think all guys want is a level playing field, then let's see who's the best for that event.

Jarwood, you are right on. The lower Major+ teams aren't attractive to "super pick ups" from non-bordering states and fall even further behind in the competitive level with the most attractive team, the perennial champs, because they can't attract the "super pick ups". (sometimes it's a money issue: The lesser team doesn't have the budget to compete with the top sponsored teams have so aren't in the running to buy a "super pick up") It does chase more teams away. That is one of the merger rules that should be done away with period. I think maybe LVSSA had that rule in their association so that some of their guys could play with great teams coming into Vegas for the LVSSA tourneys. With a limited number of players in Nevada, this gave a select few a chance to play with the best teams. LVSSA had that right to put that rule in, it was their tourney! That was then! Now that the merger has taken place, this rule isn't needed at all. It will cause more marginal teams to not attend tournaments, making the fields smaller and more lopsided. Jarwood, you were right on, the rich getting richer at the cost of dwindling tournament numbers.

tg----------best challange post ever on this site. Several have already done it,but, for the betterment of this site, let his last words stand unanswered! One step further would have been to ask SSUSA to have as much credibility as Softball Fans and ban this self inflated ________.

Wouldn't Mike be a Major or Major+ because last known team was a Major World Champion in SSUSA? Thought Major+ player could not pay on a AAA team. Has this been changed for 2012?

"Anytime you want to compare educational achievements, both quantity and quality, let me know."
Part of your achievements missed were to at least have learned some common sense so as to able at a minimun to pour pi$$ out of a boot. Average compassion and consideration, fellowship, and respect should have been included in that superior education that appears your dad wasted his money on.
Didn't you ever learn common values around the dinner table whenn growing up?
What a piece of work.

Sponsor paying most expenses is the same as being paid. I see no difference between a player accepting cash or getting air, room, or rental cars paid for. Bottom line for the player is the same either way. This is very common even in our bad economy.
There are quite a few players that won't play if they aren't given something..................that equates to being paid.

Well said Webbie.
Dirty, you are a piece of work for certain. For your info, ALL the new turf fields have a painted box, no rubber. Upper divisions play double elimination portion of tournaments with 2 umpires.
Just wondering, do you wear a seatbelt? Do you bitch and badger the DMV about the law? What about child seats? Why should we have to have them? You must live in a cave or more like an ostrich with your head all the way up your azz instead of in the sand.
There are laws and/or rules that don't have a tinkers damn to do with individuals and really don't have any effect on the game, but provide a slight edge of saftey. And, from what I've read on here, there's always one member who is against them all, against any changes whatsoever, always doing his best to pizz off the majority with trying to assert there's a speck of fly shit in the pepper, dirty. What is your point or mission, it's not how to win friends or influence people is it?

Just wondering, does anyone actually know this clown? Is dirty just a spoof to insite hate or anger? Is dirty just someones idea of a joke or is he actually seeman gone bad, perhaps the result of a drug and alcohol relationship throughout pregnancy? Will one of his friends please come forward and let us know what's the deal with this clown...............

Speaking of silly, your comments add nothing constructive to any topic you comment on. And Dirty, once again you show your colors by not answering your schedule questions.
Not much in demand in a sport you like, take it out on others. No travel team interested in your services, degrade it on their website. Talk about silly, what a waste.
And as for the Cavs, they never had enough talent to go with LaBron. If you look at the good national teams, instead of your neighborhood regional team, you'll see they had one thing in common, they brought in a top level supporting cast, unlike the Cavs. He had no help. I'm not sticking up for him, I in fact don't care for his immature "hot dog" ways. But, a team can't win with one player, ask Ernie Banks. With that said, attendence will be down next year and so will the number of wins. Like all other sports in that region, the Cavs will be forgotten. No wins, no support.
Answer the softball questions so we can give your statements some merit.

Dirty, instead of being so critical and negative, get to a tourney or 2 at the upper level and see how the game actually is, not a view from your local rec league park!

So basically Dirty, I'll assume from you skirting the questions on your schedule or avoiding answering what Regional or 1/2 National you'll be playing in, you aren't a player in demand; in other words, you aren't wanted by any decent travel teams in your area. You are a rec player who likes to stir up problems for nationally rated serious players. If it was any other way, you'd be able to state which team and tournament you'll be in this season. How about an easier question, what regional or national have you played in since 2000, and what team would that have been with.
For your info, Labron will be missed, watch your attendance figures in 2011 and see for yourself.
Lastly, how many of these boards have you been banned from other than Softballfans?
I view small minded guys like you without the talent to be a decent player as a wannabe with a "little big man" syndrome.
Use your talent, instead of your chip on your shoulder, to be part of the solution, not the problem. It's obvious you aren't an idiot, just lacking common sence and compassion.

I have read several of your posts Dirty, what Association to you play in? It looks like you are from a different group, trying to belittle SSUSA. Am I correct? If not, why all the petty berating for an organization that gives so many seniors a place to belong, a multitude of exercise to keep seniors more fit and help prolong lives, and a wonderful tool to meet other seniors with similar interests.
You should start your own association, I'm sure whoever you live with would be happy to get you out of the house.
In what regional tournament are you next participating? What is your tournament schedule for the remainder of the season?

Haven't we been doing just that since the aluminum bat came out? Technology has advanced the sport of softball to a nationally competed sport from a Sunday local picnic game. With all the associations, seems to me tech. has advanced our competition. It looks to me, all playing fields are level, we all get to use the same equipment.
