Hi guys,
I wanted to point out a few things....

1. AZ Elite has 5 - 55 yrs old guys playing on our team, most importantly we're all really good friends regardless of age, and many of us have played together for many years, even when we were younger. We want to stay together and keep playing. I'll never agree with breaking up teams.
2. Marv talked about a great game between AZ Elite and Nazzareno Electric, 2 good teams, the only thing missing from that was the wind was blowing in really hard so not many HR's were hit. Nazzareno won a good game and congratulations to them are due!
3. Nazarreno is a great team as are the other Major + teams. We look forward to playing against them at every opportunity.
4. BUT...in ours and NW Legends case it's very hard and expensive to travel and be able to play against these great teams. I wish we could figure that out short of having a huge cash windfall come our way.
in the spirit of sharing coaches info here is mine for AZ Elite;

Tim, Here we go again..... I am not in favor of anyone breaking up a team because they win. We also got bumped up to major + and now we'll compete as best we can in this division. We welcome the challenge and enjoy competing against the best. If we win we win, if we lose we lose. We'll play the best we can and let the chips fall. We all have a softball sickness and truthfully that's why we all still play after all of these years. My brothers I play with on AZ Elite are the other reason. We'll play anyone, anytime. If we win or lose we'll enjoy the battle.

AZ Elite is trying. Pretty expensive weekend with flights, rooms, and SS tourney fees. We're hoping NW Legends come down and all the Cal teams are there. I'll be monitoring this thread.

Come on guys, really? I NEVER thought I'd agree with Tim but here it is. The ball IS coming in at 7 MPH. If you like it, hit it hard. Or don't. But blaming a catcher, REALLY? Arnie with Rated Athletics will have a full out conversation with you, and every pitch is a great one. Just ask him LOL Sorry, but this IS slow pitch softball

Weather WAS GREAT. We enjoy coming to California and playing against better competition than we can find in AZ. I hope more teams come out to French Valley, we'll be there!

Discussion: Sponsor looking to finance an "established" Men's club

This is Dave with AZ Elite. I have to add a few comments. First of all I think we have one of the best if not the best sponsor, Gil Palomo. What makes him the best? He really cares about the team, he does his very best to financially support us in a very tough economy. He is at every one of our games and loves the way we play. We still give it everything we have. Our infielders are diving for balls and throwing out base runners. Our outfielders play hard and give it everything they have. Our pitcher who is all of about 5'9" is a stud up the middle and never backs down from balls being hit up the middle. Out team and players have never been for sale. We've been offered as a team to join others and drop some of our players for more or better sponsorship, we said no. We've had individuals within our team offered money to move over to other teams, they've said no. WHY? because we have a great bunch of guys who do play old school softball. We have each others backs and truly care about each other. Nobody on our team claims that we have the best team or the best players. BUT as a whole we're pretty darn good and love to compete against the very best. We don't always win but we do always battle. This game is a sickness, we all have it really bad. So we go battle during the day against whoever is put in front of us, then we go eat, hangout and make fun of each other at night. I love my teammates/brothers. That's the way it should be IMHO. That in my opinion is old school softball, doesn't mean I'm right just means that's what I think......
I hope you're all having a great day and look forward to the next tourney.

Hi Tim, We could possibly be interested in the hall of fame event if we have enough notice. We just want to play and are certainly limited in the events that are close to AZ. We also have limited funds. We can't even play in our own AZ tourneys unless we agree to exhibitions, which we have to to get in any games at all. We just want to play and compete against the best, if we get our butts handed to us oh well...... We'll try and be better the next time.

Discussion: place best hitters last strategy

I agree that your last 2 hitters are very important. Our "lowriders" are awesome and they're job is to roll it over to the top. I've always believed that you bat your best hitters at the top just so they get more at bats. But that's just me......

Discussion: toc

I think we qualified 6 times this year for the TOC, and have actually already qualified for 2014 as well. It's illogical to travel all the way across country to play so few teams. We unfortunately don't have the budget to attend. If more teams attended we might figure it out. I wish the location flip flopped with the west coast every year. Way too expensive for our team out of AZ....

Big Mike, Glad to hear your helping out with the wounded warriors. We just recently added Todd Reed of the wounded warriors to our team, AZ Elite, 50 Majors out of Phoenix, AZ. What a great guy with an unbelievably great attitude. And oh by the way, a great ball player as well (just made all tourney at the winter worlds). I know he swings a Miken but you might want to ask him.
