Discussion: SSUSA are you there?

Hey John. Thanks. Hard to believe playing Senior ball since 1994 in SSUSA
and now not able to play because we have no teams in Vegas I can play with. My California team I have played one full year with all those guys and two years with some of the others. What gets me is they won't even respond to some of us who are having a hard time finding teams since they changed the rules. For a rule to affect only a handful of players seems there could be exceptions made for the players who can not find a team because of that change. I am under the impression that this is only SENIOR SOFTBALL where all seniors should be afforded the opportunity to participate. Anyhow Big John I hope you are healthy and I look forward to seeing you hopefully on the playing field and not watching from behind the screen Take care

I know the feeling too well. I live in Las Vegas and play 65 maj+. My team is out of California. With the new rule in effect I can no longer play with them in SSUSA only. I too have asked to be grandfathered in but was turned down. Their answer was "I have many options". I immediately called the office and have emailed three times all before Christmas just asking what my options were so maybe I could find a team and have had one Email answered. This person "promised to talk to Terry and George" and get back to me. It has been 45 days and no response. Looks like I can never play in my own age group in SSUSA. We have no maj+ team here and 1 maj but they have 5 players rated maj+ who happened to win a tourney last year and got moved up. So they disbanded. Just doesn't seem right being 67 and having to play with a 55 team out of Utah in order to play in SSUSA. SSUSA we only have about 100 total players that play on travel teams out of Vegas. Shutting down California to us involves a total of only 2 people that we know about. Shouldn't all softball players be able to participate in their own age group. Good luck

Discussion: LOOKING FOR MENS 50+ OVER TEAM.

Hey Donnie. I will be with the Omen team. Looking forward to seeing you and all the guys. Larry. GSF is mostly az nv and a few so cal. I know it will affect them also. With so few maj+ teams as it is maybe SSUSA will grandfather in a few of the Cali guys and 3 guys here so we can all. continue to compete against. each other.I can understand starting with say the youngest group but for this to happen to guys that have played together and against one another for 10 to 15 years doesn't make sense. See you in Dalton.

Larry This new rule that goes into effect in Nov. actually affects THREE players here in Nevada. WE have a 50 55 60 65 and a 70 team here in Las Vegas. From these teams we have a total of THREE guys who play Maj+ with Cal teams. One is 60 and two are 65. We have been playing in SSUSA since we turned 50. Next year we will be playing in all associations as a Cal team as we are doing this year. Did I mention that this new rule affects THREE players. If I missed someone I apologize. We want to continue to play Maj+ and we will not have that opportunity. To us it just doesn't make any sense. It hurts the surrounding states more than it hurts Cali. Hope to see you next month in Dalton

Discussion: WHERE'S TURN TWO?

donnie and Bert55. Lvssa has listed on their website Sept 3-5 for the 60's
I happen to be in New York right now but i will be back in vegas this weekend. I will double check for everyone but im 99.9% sure the dates are correct. If there is any change I will post it. Donnie I'm in the same boat as you as far as the club goes. Just don't know why they don't communicate better.

Donnie, This is Hank from Vegas. LVSSA had to change their dates due to closure of all fields i believe starting the day after the tourney ends for at least a month for seeding.
They had two choices change dates or cancel tourney.

Other County Sports players John Davide now with Turn Two, Gary Richter with Thermco. Lou Russo retired still living in the Bronx. Bob Sugerman and Bill Malloy playing senior league on Long Island. Thanks Joe. It would sure be nice to finish our remaining years playing major plus with and against guys we have gotten to know very well over the years. I would like to see at least the 60's and over be included. jmho

Discussion: Its Unanimous - The Best Senior Softball Players Are in California and Florida

Hey guys. I didnt mean to leave my arizona or Nor-cal friends out. At the Maj+ level this year both 60 and 65 were very competitive. The 65 Fla team won both lvssa and ssusa and there were some very close games competition was great. The 60's as BW stated turn2 won 2 big ones, GSF, MTC and Old A's won one. Again the best playing against the best. Whats the problem?
Thanks

Discussion: Its Unanimous - The Best Senior Softball Players Are in California and Florida

I also do not understand the decision to close cal. and fla. Two 65 yr. old players from las vegas want to play maj+. We had that ppportunity this year to play with a nor-cal team. That team has now disbanded and we will drop down to the 60 maj + this year to play against the best teams in the country. Come 2011 we will no longer be able to play with that cal. team according to the new rules. There are no 60 or 65 maj+ teams in las vegas to play with. There may be a 60 and 65 maj team but they will have played together this whole year and they will have a full roster. In 2011 we will be 67 and no where to play. We would love to continue to play against the best in the country in our own age bracket but with the new rule we wont be able. I believe this new rule also affects 2 60 maj + players from vegas who play with cal teams. Is there any way that we can be grandfathered in as we have been playing together and against one another for the past 15-16 years. This would also go for the Fla teams and others on the borders of those two states. Please reconsider this change as it imho only affects a handful of players.
Thank You

JLD930 When did you play with county sports. I played with them for 11 years including merging with Imlay Realty. X McAndrew and I played together

They changed the HR rule today. The ball must clear the screen. Fun day again with many hrs. and many more great plays both in the infield and the outfield. The 60Maj+ has 8 really good teams. Should be a blast over the next two days.

Hey Larry, nice to hear from you. Hurry up and get here. we need some more great guys and players. We played your old Texas buddies fred, jim, terry and the rest. We had our hitting shoes on for that game. Fred and jim hit it out in the first inning. Terry still kills the ball. They have some other nice players. Take care and I'll see you in Nov.

Discussion: Fri, Sat & Sun OR Sat, Sun & Mon ?

Either way would be ok with me. My problem is I work full time mon thru fri. Being able to play 65's this year they play during the week. I have only been able to play in one tourney with my team this year. Just wondering if other 65's would rather play on the weekend or keep it during the week. With the economy the way it is and i believe many 65+ still working maybe its time for the associations to take a look at this. Thanks
