Discussion: pruitt chevrolet player

If someone from SSUSA wants to contact me, I can give you our best price for an AED... I sell a few and feel that every tourn. should have an AED on hand. It seems that more and more players are falling to this dreaful disease....

If any of you guys need a player, this is the guy to pick up. He has more heart, desire, and ability then men twice his size. A very good OF and hitter...Wish he were a few years older....we would pick him up !!

Discussion: Bob Chapp -Qualifying tournament for the Senior Softball World Championships

As always, I was really saddened when I heard that someone from the Lansing tourn. had passed away while playing. But when I just read that it was Bob, I was totally devasted. Bob not only was truly a fierce competitor but also would be a kind, gentle friend. I know that I am one of many, many others that have had the opportunity to have played with him .It was just an honor to have been able to be on the same field with him. I strongly believe that there should be a moment of silence for Bob at the Midwest Nationals. Another fallen hero of the game has left us. We must remember how precious is life amd enjoy every game that God allows us to play. My sincere sympathy to the family.....Larry.

Discussion: Bring back 3 game Round Robins !!??

I believe that the organizations need to bring back the three game RRs. Sure, SSUSA gives you five total games, if you loose the first two games in the tourn., they then give you the extra game. However, by playing the 3 RR games before the double elim., it gives everyone an opportunity to get some games in before the start of the tourn. I have been reading the message board for the past few years and I have seen more and more disgrunted players than ever before. I feel that it is because they are not getting enough playing time. And please do not use the excuse that the addtional game tires you out. We all should be in good enough shape to play or you should consider the subservient role of coaching bases.

Discussion: Midwest and Midwest Metro

The other thing that I found in Indy and gave me a heads up with other tourns .......and that is the Indy softball organization gave you a list of host hotels that are with you packet but they failed to tell you that there is a 10% mark-up to each room, each day that goes to their club. It is expensive enough for traveling expenses, tourn. fees, etc. to also have to pay an increase for hotels. So I suggest that whomever is scheduling your rooms for away tourns., to check and see if there is a mark-up that goes to the TD or their organization.

Discussion: Phoenix tournament

That is a good point 2121.. In the past you are correct with 2 RR games and then the National championship. We would use the RR games as a warm-up and preparation for the National game. It was very difficult for us to find practice fields and that is why it was so nice to have a few games under our belt before the National game was played...I really think that teams need to speak up and make certain things are done correctly...More enty fees and less games ???!!!!

Discussion: NO National Champion Game in Phoenix

Mike........what they have done in the past, was to give you the win. And for the game, they would comprise an All-Star team from all of the other teams to play you. No HR rule or max. HRs. It was fun for all and a challenge for both sides to try to win the game. It really prepared you for the World tourn......

Discussion: Loose tooth !!!!

Remember when you were a kid and had a loose tooth. You kept playing around with it.....the more it hurt, the more you aggravated it, until it came out. The issues with Gary and the others is like a loose tooth. If you saw Gary in a crowd or line-up you would never be able to pick him out. I have played against him a few time and observed his presence on a local. From what I have seen, he was always quite and respectful. I think that he enjoys \"stirring up the pot\" and everyone plays into it like the loose tooth. Gary has a respectful job and I am certain that he amusement with the messge board, makes his day go by much quicker. I do not reply to too many resonses but there IS a redundancy of many and also many personal comments that should be taking up on personal emails. SSUSA has done a good deed by presenting us all with the message board, and please kids, let\'s try to make it a useful and fun tool. Sooner or later the loose tooth (or teeth) gets pulled and we have our permanent set. Let\'s all try to be a lot more positive but realize that venting is also good for our health.......just don\'t take life too serious, we are never going to come out of it alive.......Larry 33......

Discussion: Any results from Vegas?

The city location for the tourn. is great but that is where it stops for me. I decided after last year to not take a team back. For the fees, the fields were deplorable. We also, lost our first game of the double elim. for an umpire threatening to kick our #4 hitter out of the entire tourn. for having the incorrect color shirt on. We had to take a out, lose the RBI from the hitter and ended up losing by one run. Too far to travel for the inexcusable crap. The games should be decided between the lines and NOT by insignificant calls by the umpire. I am sorry to hear about the other players dissatifactions, but I am not surprised. Congratulations to those that endured and did win....

Discussion: Passing of Rich Nicodemus

When we came down from Ohio and Indiana this year for the NSA Worlds, Rich was spoken highly by his peers. Every time a player passes on, it should be a reminder to all of us that life is short and there should be much more to the game than winning. My condolences to his family and team.

Discussion: Jerry Lestardo passing

Even though we compete against one another and don't always know or remember names, it still feels like family when someone in the senior softball community passes away. Makes us all realize how short and precious life can be. My deepest condolences to you, your players and the family.

Discussion: The price of winning....

Interesting that you brought up the bat issue with Little Leaguers...I, also, noticed the HR distance and the bat that was used. When Venezuela lost and gave their "hot bats" to Japan for their usage, you could see the drastic change with the Japanese kids hitting it out. I was so concerned about the kid's safety, that that exact night, I emailed ESPN, ABC, and Little League headquarters about the kids safety. Afterall, at their age, that is there most critical time for bone growth and muscle development...Needless to say, all my emails, apparently, fell upon deaf ears...$$$$

Discussion: Congrads to Ohio Silverrados & the teams we played

Terry.....John gave a pretty good description. We found it difficult to find available practice fields. Those fields will be some of the best fields that you will play on, incl. Fla. ...most dugouts have A/C.......Most places they serve beer at the concessions which is quite tempting to some considering the heat factor.

I have had the opportunity to have played with Butch and against Butch...the last time being here in Cols, Ohio. He is a man that truly loves the game of softball and not many men that I know of is as dedicated and worthy of obtaining the Hall of Fame Honor...I know that he is very appreciative and anxiously awaiting, along with his faimily, the acceptance. This is what softball is all about....Again, Congratulations Butch.!! ...the other Larry A. from Cols.

Discussion: Tournament fees

How about Columbus, Ohio...Ridge was here a few weeks ago to check over the complex.. We have 32 fields at one complex...It would nice nice to have the venue in this complex as we can ALL participate and join in with the senior fun of ALL age groups. Plus, this time of the year, you have the horses, state fair, AAA baseball, and possibly some OSU football...There would be a lot of politics to get resolved....but we are hoping....We are within a few hours flying time from approx. 80-90% of the U. S. population and just approx 7 hrs. for our friends up North of the border..something to think about....

Discussion: heart attack

Also, people with diabetic issues are more apt to have a silent heart attack with no warning signs what so ever...
another note of interest especially with this hot, humid weather............you should always finish off your warm or hot shower with a cold shower. This will minimize the potential of a brain aneuryism.. IF a brain vessel rupture, the blood will coaggulate.....Quite a few people working in the yard or playing ball have been saved by the "cold" finish of the shower..

Discussion: Dwindling #s in Manassas !!!??........

You never hear me crying about equipment other than when playing in Manassas. They are still ole tradition ASA white leather, soft core balls...I do not care what type of hitter that you are, no one likes hitting a "sock" ball. Plus, after an inning or two, the leather picks up the color of the dirt and it is very difficult to pick up the ball if you are the pitcher or infielder...In senior ball, I believe that the optic yellow ball should be used and steer away from night games as much as possible, if the lighting is not superior. These are just two simple, inexpensive changes that can assist with the safety of the senior ball player.

Taits and Bary; since most players pay there way anyway, what would be the problem to try.I think that you are going to see more and more individuals interested as time goes on. I would be curuious to see what players out there who, in particular, do not have a team, would be interested in attemting to have a regional All-Star tourn. If there is the interest, we just may have the tourn. held here in the Midwest, if none of the organizaitons would show interest. Just let me know with age and classification. I have at least 7 players, for sure..Who knows, we may have something going here. !!!!
