Discussion: pitcher safety thought!

GUYS!
It has been said numerous times on this board that the PPR is a joke when the umpires or assoc. call things all different-If you want super balls and super bats if you are a pitcher then be ready to get hit sometime. The middle is open and if you think we are not going to use it then you are mistaken. We all agree on ONE THING we do not want to see our fellow seniors getting hurt by a batted ball-but as we all know the game is dangerous at times without hitting the pitcher. As we stated injuries happen when people collied etc. on the field. It is the monster of the game to try our best to win and sometimes injuries do occur.
What is the answer I do not know and I
believe regardless on how the home run
rule is the middle is part of playing softball. It was when we were young and it is as Seniors. MY 02!!

Are you playing at Lee county sports stadium? There are alot of franchise good eating places all along Cleveland St. Route 41 in Ft. Myers. We go to a Chinese/American Buffet on colonial blvd. which is good every time we play FHC tournaments down there. You will see
alot of eating places and mostly they are good.Good Luck!!

Discussion: Ultra II?

The grey miken I is outlawed.I would stay with the Black Miken II- unless you like a endloaded feel which would be the red.If you have never swung a Miken I would stick with the balance Black Miken II.Good luck and do not hurt anyone.

Discussion: HOW YOU DECEIDED YOUR PROFILE HANDLE?

Just to get off the subject of balls etc.How did you on the message board come up with your profile handle name.In my case at one time I worked at the VA hospital in Boston and worked in payroll.I was the only guy so across the hall accounting Dept. called me the rooster who oversees the Hen house.I like #10 although as far as hitting that I am not.So hence I have used ROOSTER10 for my Handle. What is your story?

Discussion: FACT OR FICTION?

We can go on and on about PPR and Protection, screens, masks etc.but the bottom line is as Seniors we can hurt in many ways other than pitching etc.
There are many views from all of you and I think the bottom line is that we want to make the game safe at all times if possible but unfortunately circumstances come up when something happens. We all love the game otherwise we would not play or voice our opinions
as we do on this message board. The economy has caused alot of players to look at what tournaments they will go each year and everyone has a opinion which is better! We all play at different levels of competition but the bottom line is no one wants to see a player get hurt.I wish I had the answers but negative responses on this subject does not or will not correct anything that goes on.Is the answer better balls, bats-maybe playing fields?I know in our FHC Assoc. we do have injuries but we have no PPR,we do use screens only if the first game of the day is in a field which blinds the pitcher.I know this discussion will go on forever because I see no real solution besides wanting our fellow Seniors to be safe at all times.

They have a few here in Fl. The Hollis
gathering is excellent and the one mention is also very instructional and worth the trip to get out of the cold. You can not go wrong on coming to
sunny Florida in the winter. Good Luck!!

I really do not believe a 43-38 game is that exciting for the majority of Seniors playing today all over the country. What happened to defense and timely hitting etc.-to me that is exciting .Why should outfielders get stiff necks watching balls sail out of the parks.I realize that Major + teams expect that type of scoring but a 9-8
game is alot more fun for Seniors I believe. My 02.

Discussion: Screens and masks

Screens, Masks,Knight armour, when will it end ? As long as hot bats and super balls are used if you are a pitcher get out or maybe suffer getting hurt someday.Has it gotten to the point that we must don armour to pitch.A better idea would be to make all fields 250ft so almost everyone can jack it out. This will probably protect the pitcher and have 100-98 games. No PPR rule made is the answer to protecting the pitcher.Maybe it is me but I do not remember at a young age worrying about getting hurt while I pitched.I realize everyone wants great balls and bats but maybe maybe that is what is hurting the game.My 3 cents.

For the same reason a team never won but finished 2 and are rerated. The reason in our case given was that we beat teams by more than 5 runs in placement games etc. Just like the team from Indiana who if they sandbag
they would of stayed in AA.I know they
came to give their best and never considered it.We were told from our appeal to go to 3 more tournamnets and
they will consider a rerate.Heads and Beds as we say.$ talks S walks.

Discussion: how should illegal bats be handled

GUYS
HITONE357 never mentioned what type of bat that the cap came off.I also realize that combat had a problem with end caps coming off.If there manager thought by looking at the bat that it was altered then either the UIC or tournament director should of at least come over and investigate.WE know there are a minority of senior players having bats shaved. All the rules on this make no difference if we do not execute it.I am not saying that the bat was altered but I know the person and he would not say anything if he did not think it was.My thoughts!!

CANOCORN
I have one that has 200+ swings on it and it has not broken as yet. Some of my teammates have the MM and it seems to last longer than the ultra 2's.Most
players wlll tell you that the launch and endloaded ultra 2 do not give you much more than a few hundred swings.
What happened to the bat that lasted for a year or so? warranties are outI guess!!

Discussion: Ultra 2 Maxload

It seems the endload is breaking faster than black ultra II.They do not make a 29 oz endloaded . I bought a 30oz which is much too heavy to swing .
Some players have only got 100 + swings
before they broke.I will say one thing they are hot out of the wrapper!!

Discussion: Recommendation for balls

taits
It is the Strote 44/375 that we use with a FHC stamp on it.We used I believe a few years ago in the winter nationa at Ft. Myers a Baden ball which stayed hard and was good! I believe it was 44/375 but never saw one again.Certain bats respond to a type of ball better in some cases I noticed.Believe it or not some balls when using single walls bats do more damage than swinging a ultra II.Did this ever happen to anyone else?
