| June 29 Paco13 424 posts | I just have a question for the associations. Why is it that lower level teams i.e AA and even some AAA do not get to play on the nice fields as the Major and M+ do. They pay the same amount for the tourney as the M and M+ do...then they should also enjoy the satisfaction of playing on the nicer fields. I know that mostly M and M+ players get on this board, but I have friends that play AA and I believe that it is wrong. My suggestion is for the different fields be rotated accordingly, so everybody gets a chance to play at nice fields...they paly the same then afford them the same priviliges. My 2 centavos. |
| June 29 Marv19 Men's 60 498 posts | Not here! The fields we have are all the same... Gorgeous and well maintained. Sodded outfields with warning tracks, shaded dugouts, RV parking on one and in beautiful Sunny Southern California :O) Sorry guys I couldn't help it. |

If you don't count sandboxes of 2-4 inches deep in a 5-10 foot radius around every base, batting sandboxes which make it like hitting from an ocean beach, choppy outfield grass that makes outfield like playing goalie, spot water puddles where sprinklers are not places well, a total lack of permanent facilities (I love portapots after a 100 degree day during a tournament), and a lack of even one usable 4 field complex for a tournament here, we are ready for an SSUSA tournament. |

| June 29 Dbax Men's 65 2101 posts | I find this not to be true at all. The Worlds in Phoenix rotate around, except for the women's which always get the nicest complex, Rose Mofford. Why do they not rotate? And in Laughlin / Bullhead City, everyone gets a crap field! |
| June 30 Paco13 424 posts | Dbax...I know for fact last year the Worlds in Phoenix our 50 M played every game at the Cesar Chavez complex. | June 30 Freddie Men's 55 108 posts | Divisions rotate fields each year in Phoenix. The only time they may play on different fields is if there's a over flow of teams & usually that has been for pool play only. |

| June 30 SSUSA Staff 3505 posts | Filed assignments for the Phoenix World Championships generally rotate among the various facilities, with the following exceptions: • Men's 40+ Masters - Scheduled at Thompson Peak Park (aka Grayhawk) due the the 325' fences present being more suitable to the nature of that Division's power hitting game; • Women's Senior Divisions (age 50+ and older) - Scheduled at Rose Mofford because of the Japanese Joiful Tournament using the smaller Fields #5 and #6 with the Japanese ball and their opposition being comprised of Senior Women's Division players; • Men's 75+ and 80+ Divisions - Scheduled at Rose Mofford due to the close proximity to the Headquarters Hotel and for ease and safety of commuting in Phoenix traffic; and • Men's 50+ and 55+ Major Plus - Scheduled at Thompson Peak Park (aka Grayhawk) due the the 325' fences present being more suitable to the nature of those Divisions power hitting game ... | June 30 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | staff great job,the 40 masters, 50-55 M+ divs should be on the bigger fields and always stay there,since they want to blast away.this should keep them out of the middle also, as they always complain that is where they have to hit when their hrs are gone. |

The 50-Majors have not (yet) played at Thompson Peak, and are not contemplated to play there this year ... The 55 and 50-Major Plus and 40-Masters are scheduled at Thompson Peak in 2011 ... |

| July 7 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Mario, I see you play in the 50s. Playing on 325' fields may not mean that much to you but to us 65 Major Plus and up it means a great deal. I play outfield and I can guarantee you that I have enough problem playing several games on 300' fields. I played on 325' fields in Florida when I was in the 60s and it flat wore us out. The gaps are MUCH bigger on the larger fields and even chasing all the foul balls gets more tiring since a lot of them don't stop until they hit the fence at the 325' distance. My take is that 50 Major/Major Plus thru no more than 60 Major Plus should play on the larger fields. And I can also state that in the 60s running out of homeruns was never a concern on those fields. |
| July 7 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | larry you couldn't do it on 280' fields..DOH,LOL.....what about this. 40/50/55M+ play on 325' 50/55M,60M/M+,65M+ play on 315' 65M,and higher ages and all AA/AAA play on 300' we could break down the ages to fit in those fields this way maybe. hey just throwing it out as i know all complexes will not have all the different fields to play on. |
| July 8 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | DoubleL10-maybe a fifth outfielder on 325 fences. The area you have to cover goes up exponentially from 300 to 325 fences. I remember when I went to play slow pitch from baseball and we had 4 outfielders. I was young, dumb, and fast and felt that was too many outfielders. Now I'm old, still dumb, and slow and 5 does not seem outrageous. |

Played Shadow Mountain Western 2006, then Centennial Western 2007. Played Centennial 2008, then Rancho San Rafael and Golden Eagle 2009, then Centennial 2010, then Rancho San Rafael this year, in the snow, Memorial Day weekend! ShaneV |
