Omar, One non-famous man once said... "Why can't we all just get along".... I for one would like to echo this same thought. Then hope civil discourse and a common respect would overcome the disdain and even contempt spoken to one another...
Joe,
This discussion reiterates the conversation we had in Reno, we can and will at times disagree but not at the cost of disrespect and contempt toward one another...To the "voice of reason" good luck, good health and please continue in respecting thought-provoking discourse. Look forward to seeing you in Vegas and Phoenix..

Discussion: Reno Field Assignements

This will be 1st time playing in Reno, disappointed not playing at the facilities everyone raves about..but what do ya do..
Jawood.. what specifically concerns you about about CC. Is it the city or fields..
What are the conditions of fields in Carson City?
Can anyone provide info on Carson City lodging other than what is recommended by SSUSA. Or is the 30 mi drive recommended?
Any comments would be appreciated..

Discussion: Teams Being Bumped Up

Brett, here we go again..having to defend ourselves as to what division we are currently playing!!!!
Windy City Softball has followed every rule and decision that has been implimented for re-rating teams in every Senior Softball Association the last 5 years and to imply otherwise is ludicrous.I know Windy City been a personal pet peeve of yours for years now, but I don't understand the constant concern with us and at what level we participate!!

Windy City has done EVERYTHING we have been asked to do by every organization: SSUSA,SPA,ISSA,USSSA..Namely compete wherever were told to play..

Brett...
This started in 2005, we were successful, we won the 50 Major World in Phoenix and got moved up...But we competed..We weren't happy but we played in every sanctioned Major Plus world/national tournament in 2006 and never won a SINGLE tournament game..We applied to be re-rated for 2007 and it was approved. We played Major and again we were successful. We won in Phoenix and got re-rated to Major Plus for 2008. Again we played All the Major Plus Worlds/Nationals in 2008 and only won 2 tournament games all that year. We applied again and we were not re-rated to Major until 8/09.Bottom line..So we played Major Plus for 2 full years and won 2 games during that time, BUT WE PLAYED...We played in all the MAJOR PLUS worlds and nationals during those 2 years, will you do the same? I know other teams have chosen not to play after they have been bumped to Major Plus how about KC Barons
We did win our 1st Tournament in Nashville after being re-rated last year at the ISA Nationals in a tournament by all accounts was highly competitive and evenly matched,I think even you would have to agree. A tournament in which 3 of our 6 wins were by 1 run . We then went to Phoenix last year and did not even finish in the top 8.This is where you went undefeated and won the 2009 World Championship.

Brett, This year KC Barons will move up and IF you COMPETE at Major Plus in ALL the National/World Tournaments and don't win a game all year then you too can apply to be re rated next year..The exact same method we used to be re-rated.
My only comment to you would be to COMPETE and see what happens..We will do the same and play wherever they tell us to play.. Look forward to seeing and competing against you guys this year.
Brett, Good Luck this year..
Sorry for using the word "compete" so much but just trying to make a point..Wherever your told to play.PLAY

Smooth01- Yes the jersey's that we wore in Phoenix did say [Major Plus] which a sponsor got us while we were playing Major Plus earlier in the year before we were re-rated.But I really don't understand the issue with that!!!

My simple response to this discussion: Combine Major and Major Plus into one division with inning and homerun limits with a couple other possible equalizers and take all the guess work and complaining out of it..

Discussion: How to expand TOC participation

BruceinGa,Salio2k,
You both are reading my mind....

Play it in the same year that your team qualified..That would provide the biggest attendance/competition boost the TOC could dream of having..End the year with the biggest and best tournament of the year.
Flip flop Winter Nationals and TOC,this will not only produce a larger field in quantity but a much higher quality field. The correlation between a higher number of tournament winners that accept their invitations to the TOC and quality of the tournament in each division is in my opinion statistically significant.

John, Same here...Although I didn't get formally introduced.. Con told me much about you..He said you hit the crap out the ball, and he was right..
As far as leaving during the championship game anytime you can't help your team win you feel your letting them down...but it was the last flight back that night to our Winterwonder land known as Milwaukee...And work is work..

Con...30" snow and 14 degrees when we landed what's not to love...Hate to see you Southern Fla boys SUFFERING in 75 and sun..Let us know where you will be playing this year.. would be fun hooking up.....

Discussion: The Real Einstein

BW, From 1997-2001 for the first time in our nations history we ran consecutive budget surpluses that totaled 832,345,432,532.00
Bush inherited a budget surplus of $128 billion in 2001. Budget experts projected a $710 billion surplus for 2009 when he came into office in 2001. But the deficit soon exploded, thanks largely to the Bush tax cuts — which accounted for 42 percent of the deficit. When Bush left office, he handed President Obama a projected $1.2 trillion budget deficit for this year, the largest ever.

Bob, US Treasury- National Debt Data
09/30/1979 * 826,519,000,000.00
09/29/1989 2,857,430,960,187.32
09/30/1999 3,556,270,901,615.43
09/30/2008 10,024,724,896,912.49
In 1998, the Federal budget reported its first surplus ($69 billion) since 1969. In 1999, the surplus nearly doubled to $125 billion, and then again in 2000 to $236 billion. As a result of these surpluses, Federal debt held by the public has been reduced from $3.8 trillion at the end of 1997 to $3.4 trillion at the end of 2000 and to an estimated $3.2 trillion in 2001. With continued prudent fiscal policies, the budget can remain in surplus for many years. Under the President Clinton's budget proposals, $2.0 trillion in Federal debt held by the public will be retired over the next 10 years—all of the debt that can responsibly be retired.

Bob, Reading your earlier post it seems the national debt just started with present admin, where was the alarm for past 8 yrs??? Seems like the neocon war machine goes on and on...Anyway Always wishing you the best...

Discussion: rankings

Don, After attending Las Vegas World's this weekend playing in the ultra competetive Major division I couldn't agree more. What a great tourny, ANY team this weekend could have won...2 of our games were decided by one run, with the winning run on 3rd with 1 out in the open inning in both games, and one game by 2 runs with winning runs on base with 1 out in the open inning. Keep a 5 run-rule per inning cap along with reasonable cap on homeruns and 325' fences, along with the open inning rule then combining Major and Major Plus you might have something. Make the rules competitive for all and one division makes sense. Barry...YOU guys played great this weekend, could of and possibly should of won but WHAT'S up with the Major Plus fuss!!!! Here's hoping Phoenix will supply as much fun to all as Vegas did for us this weekend.

Discussion: BY FAR THE BEST 50 MAJOR TEAMS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY

Team Demo..You guys did a awesome job this weekend, unfortunately you ran out of gas after playing 10 games on Sat and Sun. Ray Ray...Where's the love... Competition is what softball is about, complaining about us being able to compete is illogical and unfair. Windy City has done EVERYTHING we have been asked to do by SSUSA and the powers to be. Ray...Yes in 2005,we were successful,we won and got moved up...But we competed..we weren't happy but we played in every Major Plus world tourny in 2006 and never won a single tournament game..We applied to be rerated for 2007, played Major and again we were successful.Won and got rerated to Major Plus for 2008,again we played All Major Plus Worlds in 2008 and only won 2 tournament games.Where's the competition? Ray,Yes we follow the rules, we ARE a good Major Team but truly NOT a Major Plus Team..Now with Wally,Carl,Sully,Wags we also would say" Personally we are ok with were we are" but we would destroy our team in order to play..Life is Good..Don't Hate..See ya'll soon in Phoenix

Discussion: 2007 End of Year Observations

Mike, some things should never end!! Like this year ..Although personally, starting the year had some moments I would like to forget, the journey was one I will never!!..We..Windy City Softball had great year, winning [4] 50 major national championships, including SSUSA this past weekend in Phoenix. Balanced, and truly competitive softball all year..But the most important observation I want to make is about the quality of the individuals that make up the entire senior softball organization...From having the best teammates/friends one could ever want..To former teammates paul ,randy, tito, big bird, bird man... To meeting and building friendships with gentleman like yourself, sully, wags, allen from ga, einstein, bogie/roberts const, dennis wilkerson/schone's,and big cat/ motown..Great guys,...who I will never forget...This is what makes senior softball so special!! Life is way too short, enjoy friendships, love family, and give it everything you got on the field....Look forward to seeing you all next year..Wishing all a Happy Holidays and a prosperous and HEALTHY New Year...Special thanks to Fran,Dave,Terry, and Ridge and many others for all you do to promote this awesome game we love.Wish you ..the best!!!!
