And it all just goes to show that the message gets lost in the who's who. Very typical!

And you Gary should be quite thrilled to know you are part and parcel of those who wish to kill the messenger. My husband is not a litigation attorney and is quite concerned for softball. Again, I am merely repeating conversations. I guess none of you have ever heard the gossip that occurs at tournaments. A lot of the time that gossip reveals true feelings. Perhaps you just don't like hearing it from a woman. At any rate, a parrot is a parrot and the thoughts conveyed are those of the men players. Oh and by the way when one say's Arizona Bobcats, Arizona is a descriptive adjective advising of place of origin. In Team Florida, team is descriptive of what type of orginization is representing Florida, but thanks for all the meaningless fontala.

The whole thing is academic, Jim is so right when he says there are too many divisions in senior softball. This is what always happens. These associations don't care about anything but the money and you all know that. Divisions, rosters, its all a bunch of crap. You think the big time sponsers who foot the bill are going to let some true recreational team win a national title? Some of the people who post here and purport to be such defenders of honor and integrity in this sport are by far the worst offenders. Perhaps A-B-C. Hit one out in C and you're out of the tournament. Hit two in B, same thing. The rest play A.

LISTEN! WITH ALL DUE RESPECT AND I MEAN THAT. First the guy was playing down so doesn't that level the field? Also Karr confessed to killing the little girl and it wasn't so. Sometimes these things happen and the only way to correct them is afterwards unfortunately. Do you really feel that the one player made that much of a difference? I know it stinks, it always stinks but it also happens a lot. These tournament people can't stay on top. There must be honor. We used to put 5 cops outside the popular bars and underagers always found a way in.

Should have put up the money if you were sure you were right. Gets refunded if right. Only three hour drive for second hand story, you've got to be kidding. These guys catch enough heat for things that happen out in the open without chasing 70 yr. old ghosts. I hereby nominate for Guiness Book under longest whine category.

Discussion: Ultra II's Why?

Here! This is really simple: Some blowhard and we all know who they are, puts together Team This or Team That and rumbles into town with his Super Major bunch of hired guns, mostly illegal players of course with altered bats on top of that. The tourney director in his ultimate wisdom throws some AAA team to the dogs as usual to satisfy the appetite of the Blowhard in order give them the red meat they hunger for in pool play. A recreational pitcher gets killed or severely injured and some ambulance chaser sees an opportunity. Soon there is a pitchers net but a third baseman suffers the same fate and now, the Insurers balk and there are no fields to play on because of the liability factor. By the way, signing a waiver with regards to neglience is a moot point. Never thought about the liability factor did you? Lawyers will get around to this sooner or later and then our game will be ruined forever, not that it isn't already. If God had meant for man to fly etc... If you can't hit a rolled sock out with a branch like Bruce and several others, then you're not a homerun hitter. Accept it! I don't see Meade whining that he can't run as fast as smaller more agile players.

Discussion: Ultra II's Why?

Wow! I think there's something to this Ultra 2 thing. Can you imagine "Stock Cars" really having to be Stock?" How about no "Walking" in basketball? No "Steroids" in baseball. ZZ Top not being able to over-dub to sound like a ten piece ensemble. Major-plus teams not being able to constantly cheat with out of area players. Worst of all, how about catching your wife with some "recreational player" who chokes up just after having a three homer game in league play on a 280 field with the wind blowing out having used your slightly altered Ultra 2? Well what the hay, you're only a 135 lb. guy. Whats wrong with a little edge? I just think that the Ultra should be by prescription only then all the 'home run wannabees' and 'bat whiners' who can't hit home runs at home either, can do some one stop shopping.

I know this may come as surprise but hot wet air is the least dense and therefore softballs travel much better at ALL times, no exceptions. It's physics. Cold dry air is the most dense. Thats why pl;ayers used to put the Bombats in dry ice to condense the molecules.

I've got it! Miken Ultra ll, the viable alternative for those who have lost the ability to hit home runs at home. They'll be selling them at drug stores soon.

Stig52, planned obsolesence has been around for a long time. What I am curious about is why a great team like Miken/Old South, having played against them I can say that, which bats an entire line-up with legitimate 325 power or more from top to bottom cares about the Ultra11? While it is true that not that many players get killed by 150mph line drives, not that many get hit by lightening either. Fact is, the ones that do are nevertheless, dead!

Discussion: Let's Be Honest

Reminds me of the story of a man who died and woke up in a beautiful place surronded by beautiful servants. He inquired if it would be possible to shoot some hoops. He was immediately taken to a court where he found that shot after shot went in without a miss. Being supremely satisfied, he asked to shoot a rifle and low and behold, bullseye after bullseye. Although he was quite taken by his own new found prowess, he was getting slightly bored. He asked if he could do his favorite thing which was shoot pool. To his amazement, every time he broke, all the balls went in the hole. Being no longer amused or caught up in his own grandiose, he demanded to be taken to the 'other place' as this was really no fun. It was then that he found out that where he was was the other place. We should never strive to level the playing field by the use of technology lest it cheapen the accomplishments of others with superior talent.

Yeah! I think you must be right about the good old days. Anyway, can anyone comment on the new basketball shoe? One manufacturer has a model that guarantees a 6' vertical but I hear thats not being permitted in several associations. Who cares. All the seniors will now be eligible for the NBA. Also there is a new headstock in production for croquet which will add almost 40' to penalty hits and lets not forget about the new shoulder mounted radar system that directs the ball into the pocket every time thus allowing the weakest of bowlers to roll a 300 virtually every time. I think the bat manufacturers will be best served producing reusable little composite fire hydrants to pass around to everyone with a hormone problem. How about if we just shorten the fences to 200' and put an end to the game once and for all. In the good old days to use a favorite saying of mine, Meade, Gatti, Huggins, et al, who I had the pleasure of playing against, could hit a rolled up sock out with a branch. Galloway, who I did not know was better than that it is said.

00 degrees with 98% humidity, not withstanding a water soaked ball. Conversly, cold, dry air is the most dense air and therefore affords much less travel distance for the ball. All the loss of compression is neglient because a rise in temperature negates any loss of distance. On top of all that, good hitters can hit a rolled up sock out with a branch.

Discussion: The Truth About Bats And Balls

How about if we hit the balls the other brings and he hits the ones we bring. Sounds like the solution. It worked in the seventies when you brought your own because the Dudley's got soft rather quickly. So evereyone hit their own so long as they were approved restricted flight balls. Same can surely work in the other direction. Now we don't have to worry so much about bats.
