No problem Steve. I am guessing the person there was either Frank who works with Anaconda or someone that Mike played with back in the day. You know as well as I do, nobody more popular than the Big Cat!

I remember those days of the Ultra IIs also. My last year with that bat I went through 12,, and that wasn't using them much in BP. I had one that still was going a few years back too, but it broke during testing with the newer product. Bats that break in seem to have the best chance to get the hottest but keep in mind most associations have wanted to eliminate break in the bat standards they set. To make a bat that continues to break in, sooner or later it will fail compressions standards. This new Freak Black design will get hotter, and yet stay within the standards while allowing the sweet spot to open up. In watching some of the videos that are showing up you can hear the sound of the bat change. That is when you know it is ready for the games. My boy Billy Hudson has been doing some videos on FB with guys on his team and you can really hear the difference. It's a good bat guys. Ap

Lewis,, I was down there for the opening weekend and left on that Sunday. I wasn't there when Big Mike was set up. Curious as to who would have been there calling themselves a rep. Might be the same scenerio above where another person was thought of as a VP.lol I had Johnny Bailey there who is a KO rep along with Ronni Salcedo. Otherwise I had some players that stick to our products and left some bats with a few guys to try out.
Ib16, those were days before I was an employee here. I was a sponsored player back then and went through a ton of U2s as a player. I know there are some out there that seem to last forever but there was at the same time a ton that broke early. They aren't spoken about near as much because those days are so long ago. Not to mention the market was all about breaking a bat in back in those days. That Ultra 2 out of the wrapper was not even close to the new U2 bats these days. Years ago we did a Ultra II Legacy bat that started out stiffer but broke in to be a great bat that performed like a U2. NOBODY BOUGHT IT. Everyone wants a bat that is hot from the start without putting the time in to break in. So, now you see all manufacturers putting out products that are hot ASAP. You lose durability going with this as we can't have both worlds. So, the Freak Black is a happy medium that should go over well. Hotter out of the wrapper than the previous Triad Blackout. Better sweetspot, and handle designed specific for the barrel to create a better break in, with a 1 year warranty. Maybe 10 years from now we will have a couple black U2s that show up in a garage and we can call them durable too.lol The 50 and over market is much more health conscious too in terms of fitness. That to me says this Freak Black could be the ticket for many of you.

LeeLee50,,, you got me curious. A Miken VP informed you? Pretty sure I was the only one with info on the bat in Vegas and brought the only 6 in known existance with me. And if that VP was me (which I am not) that conversation didn't happen. The bat is great for all players, and designed to withstand the newer 40 to 50 and over market to the point that we backed it up with a 1 year warranty. Obviously the Dudley is the new bat out with plenty of hype and it should have some. It is a good bat. I have tested it next to all of our senior bats and it will surely be competition. Nice part about competition is the pressure it can put on other companies to develop new technologies and that is when my job is the most fun. You all know Miken for performance so I was very excited during the testing of the Freak Black. I am even more happy with the final product. Follow the reviews as they come in. Those 6 demos that were down in Vegas went with a large range of players and Anaconda had the bats the following week for resale. Alan will have them if he doesn't already. I only brought the bats for demo as the stores already had their orders in. The bench mark for performance is the Ultra IIs, so if we can get this bat to you with durability and the fact that for many players it will be just as good, yet still have a warranty I am excited about that.
It was great to see a bunch of you down there in Vegas and it was great to put many faces with names that I have dealt with for years. I watched some awesome games down there guys,, to the point where I cannot wait to hit my 50s!!! Good luck everyone. We got a new stick for you all to try and we backed it with a warranty. Great performance, great durability, great bat and it has an M on it. Contact your stores as we made sure they have the inventory ASAP. Adam Peterson, National Promotions Manager Miken Sports

The bat is actually not a Triad Blackout Frame. This bat is the Ultra Maxload (WHITE), with a half oz more enload in it. The Ultra Maxload is .5 oz of endload. The BIG CAT is a Supermax endload which is 1 full oz. The ONLY bat in our lineup of bats that carries a 1.5 endload is the Kevin Filby USSSA Ultra max. Keep in mind guys, all of the 2 piece senior bats utilize Triad Technology.

SO, Maxload = .5 oz Supermax or Big Cat = 1 oz Ultra max = 1.5oz

You will see this as standard with our bats in all associations.

The bat also doesn't swing as heavy as you think. Alan might be right in some players moving back an oz but for all of you that have been asking for a heavier bat, stay true and you should be fine.

Those of you looking for a video this is the only one posted so far. I am very excited about this bat and after the testing I have done on it, I am happy to say it lives up to the signature that is on it. This Ultra II Macenko bat is a great addition to our Ultra II line and will be a popular model in 2014. Alan will have them, Anaconda Sports, Direct Sports, Classic Logos, Kelly's, Softball Bat Club etc. Contact them today for a pre order!

Have a great season guys!
