March 30, 2015 DOERBAUM | Topic: Bats Discussion: old miken freak plus Question for Alan Tanner. Are there going to be any pictures or videos posted anywhere from the spring training camp? Personally, i was having so much fun, i completely forgot to take any pics. DUH!! As far as next year goes, the only thing i can think of for improvement would be video of the various phases of the camp. ( the talks given by you and your staff would be priceless!) Video of batting practice, with the commentary of the instructors for each "camper", would be invaluable. (as we all know, the memory "aint what it used to be"!) Once again, thank you and your staff for a great weekend, and I'll see you on the field soon! "Dave from Winter Haven" |
March 29, 2015 DOERBAUM | Topic: Bats Discussion: old miken freak plus have a mid 2000's freak plus and am curious if it has any worth. 1.20 USSSA bat with about 3-400 swings on it. Used it long ago and have since joined the seniors division. Have no use for it and would like it out from under foot. Any direction on this bats' value (if any?) would be greatly appreciated. dave in winter haven |
March 29, 2015 DOERBAUM | Topic: Bats Discussion: old miken freak plus Just sitting in my recliner contemplating the last three days at Alan Tanners Spring Training camp. What a GAS !!! I met a large group of fantastic people, an even more fantastic group of instructors, and had the best time I have had in a long time on a softball field. You see, I haven't played the game in almost 10 years. I just got introduced to the senior softball scene here in winter haven this year. I hope to get in some resemblance of shape, and continue playing for many more years. Thanks to Alan, Bob, Jason, Carlos, and Davey for taking the time to impart their vast knowledge of the game to everyone at the camp. See you next year guys!! |
Feb. 20, 2015 DOERBAUM | Topic: Bats Discussion: old miken freak plus I WAS ALWAYUS TOLD "SWING THE HEAVIEST BAT YOU CAN, WITHOUT A DECREASE IN BAT SPEED, OR LOSS OF CONTROL". I DONT WANT TO BE TOO GEEKY HERE, BUT THE EQUATION "E=M*C2" TELLS YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY IMPARTED TO THE BALL. BAT SPEED IS KING, NOT BAT WEIGHT. FOR EXAMPLE: 29 X 80SQ. = 185600, 26 X 85SQ. = 187850. WHATEVER THOSE FINAL NUMBERS REPRESENT, THE LIGHTER WEIGHT AT THE HIGHER SPEED IMPARTS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE ENERGY TO THE BALL. THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR IN SENIOR SOFTBALL HERE IN WINTER HAVEN. 55 THIS YEAR AND THESE SENIOR BATS ARE SOOOO GOOD IT SEEMS LIKE I AM SWINGING A FIRST YEAR DIMARINI DOUBLEWALL AND I AM 30 AGAIN. THE ONLY BEEF I HAVE IS I CRACKED THE MIKEN I BOUGHT AFTER ABOUT 60 SWINGS. (NEVER USED BELOW 60). I HAVE SINCE PICKED UP THE MIKEN WITH A WARRANTY, A DUDLY 13" END LOAD, AND A USSSA MIKEN 1.20 FREAK SUPERMAX. GOT TO FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE FEELS THE BEST, AND TO ME THAT IS THE REAL KEY. TRY EVERYTHING YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON, AND ONE OF THEM WILL SPEAK TO YOU. P.S. THIRD SWING WITH BOTH THE MIKEN AND THE DUDLY WENT ABOUT 340.... WHAT BREAK IN PERIOD!! HAVNT USED THE FREAK SUPERMAX YET. P.S.S. ALSO LOOKING FOR A TOURNAMENT TEAM CLOSE TO WINTER HAVEN. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN A OLD WAR HORSE, HIT ME UP. PITCH, CATCH, SECOND, OR FIRST. THROW LEFT, BAT RIGHT. TOO MANY BACK SUGURIES FOR THE OUTFIELD (CANT RUN TOO FAST ANY MORE) |
