| Oct. 6, 2016 GH | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Scoring of runs Please clarify Rule 5.7 if you would, based on the following. Runner on 1st & 3rd with 1 out. Batter hits to short-stop a grounder who toss to 2nd base for the 2nd out. Base runner on 3rd base goes home and touches the plate before the double play is completed with the throw to 1st base. (2nd baseman fumbled ball a bit and runner to 1st was slow.) The double play was completed for the 3rd out. Question: Does the runner from 3rd score a run or not. Explain if you would in clear language. |
