Discussion: Fan interference

This question pertains to an unruly (in my opinion) fan. The fan in question comes to her husband's games and has a tendency to scream, as if she just saw a mouse or bear, when her team does something well. I don't mind her rooting for the team, e.g., go Tigers, or Bears or (insert team name), but when her screaming can be heard several diamonds away from her husband's game, I think she is unruly. Her screaming once interfered with my concentration while umpiring a game. Her screams must be at least 75 to 80 decibels. She could be an NFL QB and be heard well. Can she be cited for fan interference? Other than asking her to please be a little quieter, do you have any other recommendations? I believe she is a nuisance and her behavior disrupts the spirit of our old guy's games.

There was no ruling by a somewhat inexperienced umpire. He let the play stand. It was pivotal in the outcome of he game and that is why I submitted the question. Once agin, thanks for your input.

Today I was playing the short field position (eleventh player on the team) and standing close to second base on the third base side. A base runner was on second, so I was right behind him but to his side. A batted ball came directly at me and as I was positioning myself to field it, the runner left the base and was directly in front of me, blocking my entire vision of the bouncing ball. I know that runners can run in front of defensive positioned fielders, e.g., a shortstop, when there is separation between the two. In my case the runner and I were very close to one another. I did not see the ball at all as it rolled by the two of us. Should that be called offensive interference?

Thanks for your comments. The umpire did not fall over laughing because he has no sense of humor. He also doesn't know where to position himself either. He was actually in front of our 2nd baseman and didn't move fast enough to get out of the way. His BMI is way over 30, in other words, it doesn't appear that he goes to Weight Watchers.

Discussion: umpire interference

A base path umpire interfered with our second baseman as he attempted to catch a soft line drive. The field umpire did not call "umpire interference" and the home plate umpire let the play stand with runners on first, second and third. The home plate umpire said the field umpire was "part of the field" and let the winning run score. Another site said the field umpire should have called umpire interference on himself and allowed the batter-runner to go to first. What about the other runners? Are they free to run or allowed to run freely , or just one base? Thanks
