| April 30, 2018 Jerry66 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Courtesy Runner on field before Time Out What is the umpire's call when a would-be courtesy runs on the playing field before the umpire calls time out, i.e. the ball is still in play? Is it interference? Is someone called out? Who? What rule applies? In my case, the batter hit the ball to the outfield and was safe at first with no other runners. The third base coach ran onto the field calling that he would be the courtesy runner before the ball was back in the infield. |
