Discussion: 60 Ratings

Maybe there is a Simple Answer to why WE ( the SF Seals 80 team ) went to the Western Nationals and didn't play anyone in our Ranking Bracket but were allowed to Represent the West as the 80 Major Team. But then were Rated as a Major Plus Team when we went to the Championships in Las Vegas? The Rules say that Teams winning a Division of Two Teams will not be moved up But over Three Tournaments moves can be made from beating or losing to Opponents of the same Age and Skill Level by average of Five Runs or more. We did neither of these.

Discussion: 75AAA in FM

Dave, Regarding the Health and Safety of Older Players, In the 75 Major + in Vegas We had Four Teams and You had us Stay Four Days. This cost each of our Players a Lot of Money . WE usually play Five games on a regular Tournament and are able to survive a day when we might have to play Three games. When you have a Bracket of only 4 Teams Don't make us stay for 4 Days . What a Waste of Time and Money that Many People are still talking about. Hope the Committee will consider this Next Time. Thanks, Tom

Discussion: Session 2 Field Assignments for Vegas Worlds

Hi Dave , I see that the 75 Major Plus teams will be playing at BLD which is fine However We only have Four Teams in our Division and I was hoping that we could complete our Tournament in Three Days. Could you please let us know ASAP as we would like to make Flight and Lodging Arrangements. It could save us some Money if we make plans now. Thanks, Tom

Discussion: what is the call

Runner on third base goes on ground ball and straddles the commitment line until third baseman approaches him and then crosses the line . the catcher runs up and tags him. The rule says he is Safe and Ball is alive. SO does he have to continue to go across the Scoring Line or does the Run count right then? We had a situation where the catcher beat the runner to home and he was called Out. Runner did not attempt to return to Third and was stopped when tag was made. Thanks for your Reply

Discussion: Hall of Fame

Just wanted to say that the San Francisco Seals have added three new Members to the Hall of Fame. Steve Salter, Harry Heller, and Jim Douglass, who will be inducted in Las Vegas this year. Congratulations to Them and we thank them for playing with our 75 Team. We will be playing Joseph Chevrolet from Florida, the only other 75 Major+ team in the Country in Las Vegas for the Championship.

Discussion: ratings

Something is Still wrong with the Rating System. Many teams still listed don't exist and haven't for years. But my comment at this time is that I just looked at the Latest Ratings for 75 year old teams and The seals and Top Gun are the Only Teams listed as Major Plus. This is Wrong. If you check, Joseph Chevrolet from Florida The team that won the Eastern Championship) beat the Seals to force an If Game and they also beat Top Gun during that tournament so They definitely should be Major Plus. Only 2 teams in the entire Country . Should we ritire Now?

Discussion: What we got for winning National Championship

SSUSA Should be ashamed to hand out Generic Shirts without any Mention of NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP on them. Even the Directors and other players were wearing this SSUSA Shirt. Pretty Poor Reward for all the Money we pay to play in these Tournaments and win something like this But What do they think A RING OPTION is. Another chance to spend more money and they don't even pay part of it. All they had at our park was X LARGE and DOUBLE X when we finished. Great Turnout over 400 teams and the Awards are still bad and most are donated. SSUSA raves about how many teams go to their Tournaments and continues to give Very Little back to the Players that Pay to go. Would like to see them pay part of Ring cost instead of an Option and give appropriate Shirts(proper sizes and identification) to the Winners .

Discussion: Balls in Manteca tourney this weekend

Not only were the balls and the fields terrible The schedule for our team was for 2:15 and 4:45 on Sat. and because of Problems we were over 90 minutes late starting our games so since it was so dark they turned on the "lights" but since we older guys still couldn't see we agreed to play 5 Innings. We got over at 8PM after spending the whole day in the 90+ degree sun. Not a very Fun Day. They should not be allowed to have another Tournament there

Discussion: reno

just returned from reno. and wanted to let the powers in charge know how bad the fields at El Rancho were. Every other hop was a Bad One. We were lucky there were no serious injuries only some bad Bruises which will take some time to heal on us old guys. The Golden Eagle fields were great. Tournament was Good! Scheduling was OK but our 70 group could have been out of there by noon but we had to wait until the afternoon to play One game so we got a late departure time to drive home on the last day.

I am still trying to find out if the LVSSA and the SSUSA have resolved their conflict over tournament dates. When is LVSSA having the 65 age group Championship?

I am member of SF Seals from the bay area. We are a major + team. I hope to see a lot of responses from players and hope that the directors of the various organizations read them and do something about our concerns.

Discussion: RATINGS

I agree with Burmuda Punch and can't believe that this committe does anything. There are teams in our division that don't exist. Some organizations use this Ranking System to form divisions and these teams are nowher to be found. They wer supposed to be up dated in Aug. snd I never saw any changes. If they are going to use them Some one should take responsibility to see that ther are accurate. Some are based on reputation and never changed. I would like to see the Rating Committe take a more sctive part in evaluating teams to insure Parity. Wishfull Thinking?
