Discussion: Close But No Cigar!

Late November, 1969, one week from completing AIT training at Ft. Lee, Virginia. PX was hosting game night and last game was let's Make A Deal. I was selected as last contestant. M C questioned me about my plans and I explained that I was going home for the month of December then off to VietNam.
The M C did his very best to convince me to take the very small package in his hand but instead I picked 6 large packages from the shelves around the PX. What a dummy!! I selected things like size 60 panty hose and other gag prizes. In his hand was a $100 leather billfold containing 5 $100 bills!!
This next story shows that I definitely need to start paying better attention.
Spring, 1982, I had just graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Even though we could not afford it, My wife and I decided to celebrate with our 2 daughters, 6 and 5, and go to Disney World. We arrived early at the back gate and were the first in line. The older gentleman, employee, inside the gate engaged us in conversation for quite a while. When the gate swung open, it seemed that he tried to delay us but our children enthusiastically burst through the gate.
After entering, he pulled me aside and said that we missed by 2 being the millionth customer and winning a new car!!
Anyone else have similar experiences?

We have 13 committed players; need one more OF to have at least 5 committed for outfield. That way we have some rotation and not exhaust them. We have several emergency players available so good there.
just need one more full time, committed player!! call me.

Discussion: Please, a story from anyone! Anything but Corona, Corona, Corona!

1990's, Church league game. We are home team, bottom of 7th, down by 1. Leadoff batter, #6 in lineup gets a single. Coach, me, not paying attention. #8 batter jumps in batter's box and gets a double, fast runner on first, We win, WE win!!
Whoa; opponent catches the mistake and calls umpire's attention to it. One out, runner back to first, down by 1. #7 in lineup bats and gets a single. 2 men on, chances are looking good for the W!
#8 takes his appropriate time at bat in the batter's box; dribbler to SS, Double play! Game over!!
