Discussion: Doctored Bat in Seattle?

From the ISF/ISSA web site under RULES:

19. BATS:

All bats used in ISSA play must be official softball bats approved by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) unless prior approval given by the tournament officials. Bats must have their original paint markings for complete identification. Tournament officials have the right to keep any bat suspected of being altered or otherwise illegal for a period of thirty (30) days to have it inspected and/or tested. Any bat found to be altered or illegal could result in the player and manager being disqualified from future participation in senior softball. Any team protesting a bat alleging it to be altered must post the Bat Protest Fee of $350.00.

Discussion: Doctored Bat in Seattle?

A bat was taken in June @ ISF, Manassas, VA & sent off for testing & to this date NO word about it has been said.

It is a shame that when you are allowed to use the U2 that someone would go & use an Altered/Shaved/Painted bat.

It is running WILD in all the Associations & someone is going to get hurt.

Hope no one I know ends up being the UnLucky one.

The players Need to stop this before it gets out of hand.

Mich. Vet,
I believe there were only 4 maybe 5. There wasn't even a AA division this year in Rock Hill, SC.
Yes, I agree with the ratings.......they can change at any time at the drop of a hat...................dosen't make any sense to me either.
TNT was moved up to Major after they won the ISF in June & still are shown as Major but they played AAA in the ISSA in Manassas this past weekend & finished 2nd.
Big ????? on that........

Michigan Vet,

Dayton Legends got an AUTOMATIC move up for winning the NSA AA in Cullman AL.

They were not moved up for winning the Eastern or US Nationals.

Discussion: ULTRA II WHY?

JTS,
ASA (Burlington NC), USSSA (Salem OR), ISF/ISSA (Manassas Va), SSWS (Palm Springs, CA) & NSA (Rock Hill SC) are about the only Associations that do not use the U2. Even in NSA they didn't grandfather the Original Freak 100.

As long as people keep buying them, they will still make them, It seems like the duribility has been decreasing lately. It is the bat that everyone wants to use BUT they don't understand that you can't hit a "SOCK" of a ball any harder with it. HOT bats = soft balls :o)
Good Luck the Rest of the Year.

Dave, Thanks for Clarifing your statement. Hey we all are human & sometimes choose the wrong wording in how we try to explain something. No problem.

It still is a shame that this has happened. Anytime you have gaurenteed games & then something like this happens it throws it all of kiltered. I have had to draw up brackets the day of because of NO SHOWS & it can cause some headaches for the TD & UIC's.

By the way, Thanks for doing the brackets & then filling them out afterwards. Many of us softball junkies really apprieacte it. Keep up the good work.

Wish I was going up there, because I would surely look you up & shake your hand.

Rabbit, yes some of those teams do not play as those teams anymoe.

Declaires is playing Major, they started out AAA but got bumped up after Indy & another tourney. Good Major team, they beat Schones (Major+) in Cols., Ohio a few weeks back. Good group of guys...............most have been playing since they were 35 and over team.

Dave, What is going on??? Why are these 3 teams NOT playing on Friday (Pine Knob, Pinnacle & Jaguars)?

Is this going to be a new standard, don't play on Friday & only Sat.& Sunday? Take the forfiets & right to the DE?

Wasn't this advertised as a 3 day tourney??

MK39.......37 are listed as M+ teams but only about 15-20 are active if that & they rest don't really play anymore.
I am in agreement with you let the M+ teams draw from anywhere as long as they are only on one roster for the year. No going from team to team & every Assoc. to honor these roster's. The teams can police them selves.
Just let them play in this Upper Division, but on the same note don't let them drop down & play AAA or AA.
Good Luck the rest of the year.

bucky: Nothing meant by MDF, don't even know what it stands for.
There was a MDF post last june & he had moved from Oregon to Ohio. You had moved from Oregon to Ohio right?
I just thought maybe you where the same, since both of you where from Oregon & moved to Ohio. That's all. NBD.

I can relate to being on the DL myself. I tore the legiments off my ankle bone over 10 weeks ago & am just starting rehab. 5 weeks on cruches, 5 days in the hospital with a Blood Clot, 5weeks in a walking boot cast. I haven't even swug a bat all year & is the first time since I was 16 that I haven't played or Umpired in the summer.

Hope you recover well & Good Luck up in Chicago, maybe we will cross paths on a Softball Diamond next year.

Yo, Rabbit Sounds like ya got your $$ worth this past weekend. Good job coming in 3rd.

Only AAA team I have heard that is supposed to go is Dayton Legends 50's, at least that was they have said.

Did you ever find out when it starts? It says 27-30 & that's
Thursday thru Sunday. I know there was some discussion here
on the board that the 50/55's started on Friday, like last year.

Good Luck which ever way you go. Hope to see you on the field again sometime this year.
