Discussion: NCSSA Tournament Schedule

I have emailed NCSSA (NORCAL) to try to find out when the 2014 schedule may be released.Have not received an answer.
Does anyone have an idea when the schedule may be out? Teams are trying to make plans for 2014.
Thanks

Discussion: Playing after knee replacement?

I had my right knee replaced on July 22nd, 4 months ago tomorrow. Surgery went well. spent 1 1/2 days in hospital. woke up with motion machine bending my knee, used it for the 1st 3 wks. Started PT 1 week after surgery. By the way I lost 25 lbs before surgery, 225 - 200 which helps take a great deal of pressure off the knee! Went right to 105ROM, then STOPPED! Had to go back under for a manipulation, put me under & the Dr bent the knee for me!! Put me back about 2 weeks, gave me a cortisone shot & I am now at 125+ ROM & gaining more each day. I have been riding my bike 5 miles + everyday, ellipical ea day. Went to batting practice 2 wks ago, 1st time up it was all arms! Then it became more natural and got some nice line drives.(My type of hits)
PT is a must! Have to do ALL of the exercises at home if you want to improve.
Plan to be on the field in early spring!
Good luck with your surgery.

Discussion: finding results of tournies

Well, it didn't take long before people started complaining about results being posted. I don't know how much you know about running a tournament with 132 teams, all of the coaches, players, etc. If you did, you might understand why the results don't get posted right away.
Most of the time there is 1 TD at each site and he is busy answering questions from coaches, players, wives, and even umpires. They work long hours, not just the 2 games you show up to play, which most likely are on time and you don't even realize the TD is there!
I am sure SSUSA would be glad to take your suggestion about having someone at each venue to post scores on the iPad you have provided and will pay their expenses for the tournament.
The results are usually posted within 2 weeks of the event. Sometimes when you have two tournaments back to back, across the country, it might take a little longer.
Just relax, play some softball, have fun, and Bless the Lord that you are still able to play this game!
Just my opinion!

Discussion: 40's and 50's session #3

Ok, here we go again! SSUSA publishes the play dates for each age group when they post the master schedule. Then, most of the time, we get a "tentative" list of where that age group "may" play a few weeks in advance. If our age group, 65M is scheduled to play Mon - Thur, we assume we will be playing an early game on the 1st day. That way you are all there no matter what time you may play. If you gat a later start time, good for your team, sleep in or find a place to bat. I always tell our team that since we will be in the championship and/or the "if" game, don't plan on leaving before 5pm on the last day. That way EVERYONE knows how to schedule travel, hotels, etc. this process has worked for us for over 10 years playing 60s - 65s. I know it is harder on the younger age groups because of work, etc. However, I would want my team here, ready to play early on the 1st day. That way if some travel problems arise, no problem, you have some extra time to get everyone to the tournament, ready to play.
AND BESIDES ALL OF THAT, IT IS NO EASY TASK TO DEVELOP A SCHEDULE FOR 485 TEAMS!
Thanks and have fun in Vegas!!!

Discussion: Las Vegas Schedule

Read deal needs to get "real"!! If you are waiting until the schedule comes out to make plans, you are the one to blame! You have a great idea of where you are going to be playing, hotels have listed how far away each park is and Dave does everything he can not to change where you are playing. He has no control over that until all the entries are received and team have stopped dropping, etc.
Looks like you are a 60 team, you have to be there ready to,play on Friday at 8am & plan on leaving after 5pm on Sun. If you can't plan your teams schedule from that info, I don't think anyone can help!!!!!

We NEVER take batting practice with out a screen! We hand some close calls a few years ago and we got a screen that travels with us no matter what. Every team should have one, no questions asked.

Discussion: VEGAS a month ago vs Reno this weekend

I don't think Dave has to explain to anyone why the scores for LV have not been posted. He does a great job getting the results posted. Sometimes events come one on top of each other and time does not allow posting results. You complain that the schedules are not out soon enough, you complain that you don't know where you are going to be playing, you complain that the results are not posted, etc! WHAT DO YOU WANT?
LV had 10+ complexes that were being used, Reno has basically 3 complexes and most games being at Golden Eagle. Very easy to post results as they occur.
Maybe one of you would like to volunteer your time, travel, expenses to travel to each tournament and do NOTHING else but post results!
Until then, PLAY SOFTBALL!!!

You have to use a "qualifying" roster. You can only add players if you drop to 11 players or below.
Contact George at SSUSA for more info.

Discussion: Mesquite or should I say St George!!!!!

I believe the playing sites were posted at least 30 days ago. If you look on the Msg board you can already see where you will be playing in Reno. That is not until Jun, so that should give you time to find a room! Yes, it says it is "tentative" playing sites, but I have yet to see them change.
Don't blame someone else for your failure to get the info in a timely manner!
