Any other NorCal players having trouble getting on this website? For some reason, for the last week or so I haven't been able to get it to open...

Discussion: RED FLAGS FLYING OVER LVSSA/SSUSA MERGER

Just wondering - why is playing 7 innings in 65 minutes better that playing 5 or 6 innings in 65 minutes? Either way, your playing just as long...

Turn out the lights
The party's over
They say that
All good things must end
Call it tonight
The party's over
And tomorrow starts
The same old thing again

Discussion: Acknowledgement of Risk, Release and Waiver Form

This weekend is the NorCal (NCSSA) Hall of Fame tournament at the Big League Dreams Park in Manteca, where all participants are being asked to sign the "Acknowledgement of Risk, Release and Waiver Form" before being allowed to participate.

Hmmm, don't remember being asked to sign a waiver at any other tournaments. Is this the wave of the future?

Discussion: Glucosamine and Chondroitin for joint pain relief

An employee of mine has an arthritic knee, and he swears by the following remedy for pain relief: he has a small jar filled with rubbing alcohol and marijuana, and rubs a little of this magic potion on the knee joint. Works for him...

To logan/Gary C:

Kind of sad that your comments were always hostile
Interesting posts are always welcome here.
Senior softball players play for fun and friendships,
Since none of us make a living from this activity.

Maybe you can rejoin these conversations when
You're not so intent on being critical of others.

All of us make mistakes, but we learn from them,
So as not to repeat them (hint hint).
Seems that your posts made my mind go acrostic.

Discussion: Sports Sensors - Swing Speed Radar

Fascinating stuff guys, thanks. As a line drive hitter, I always thought my lack of power was due to the fact that I'm a front foot hitter, not bat speed.

My college baseball coach likened my swing to a boxer punching the heavy bag while sitting on a chair vs. a boxer punching the heavy bag coming off the back foot. Both punches were the same speed, but the latter had more power because of body leverage.

I'm not sure why we even need to have all-tourney players at our age. The team award should be the ultimate prize...

Discussion: Dear Dirty

Gary19, By the number of your posts an EVERY SUBJECT, it is very clear to the rest of us that you are very passionate about senior softball (and for the record, a lot of us happen to agree with you on these issues). But constantly defending and re-stating your position on every subject isn't necessary, and quite frankly, is a turn off. WE GET IT! Sometimes less is more...

A couple of other posters dominated every discussion with their rants, and they ended up losing the opportunity to voice their opinions. Not trying to be mean, just honest.

Hit the Gap, I'm living proof that there IS crying in baseball (after watching the video). Don't think I'll be complaining about "stuff" too much anymore...

Wow, Dirty! 45" chest? 36" waist? 17" arms? Very impressive! In my mind I picture you as another Paul Teuttle Sr. (of American Chopper fame). I can't remember the last time, if ever, that I measured myself, except for my weight, blood pressure, and cholesteral...

To keep in shape I do a few 12 ounce curls, especially in the parking lot after games!

Discussion: Courtesy Runner Positive & Negative Views

Maybe a good way to stop the abuse of this rule (putting in a rabbit in a run scoring situation) is to have each team designate which player(s) needs a courtesy runner before the game starts. I know a few excellent players with new knees and hips that have been instructed by their doctor to limit their running.
