July 24, 2010 ChiPrimeMarty | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Time Limits "A 1 and 1 count will speed up games up to 10 minutes." Amen to that. Outside of Senior Softball, it's been close to 30 years since I've played with 0-0 count. It's such a hitter's game already, and with 3 strikes to play with we can usually wait for a big fat pitch to come our way. With a 1-1 count you've got to be aggressive with that first pitch if it's a strike (or close to a strike). In my experience batters will take a lot more pitches with a 0-0 count. The 1-1 count gives the pitcher a little bit of an edge and with that fewer runs are scored which also shortens game times. The number of walks issued has a lot more to do with the competency of the pitcher than with the count. |
May 27, 2010 ChiPrimeMarty | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: lansing tourney SSUSA Staff, Why wasn't the schedule posted before the tourney or the results afterward in web site here? Who won the 50AAA bracket that included the 55M+ team? |
April 30, 2010 ChiPrimeMarty | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: BRICKYARD INVITATIONAL 2010 • DRAFT Game Schedules & Brackets Steve, Regarding the number posted to call for playing conditions: (317) 875-8833 Is this a recorded message that I should instruct all my teammates to call? I don't want a person flooded with calls. Unfortunately, the weather forecast looks like the fields may be flooded. Any chance this tourney could be cancelled? |
March 29, 2010 ChiPrimeMarty | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: a question,or poll if ya wanna call it that I'd like Senior Softball to use ASA bats, or USSSA at the most. With bats like the Ultra2 hitting a home run isn't much of an accomplishment, and a hard line drive with a little loft can clear the fence for an out if your team has already hit the max for the game. Given the fact that our reflexes aren't as fast as they used to be, the current Senior bats no doubt cause more injuries -- and does all this technology-driven power really improve the game? |
