I’m 63 years old, been pitching on an open team (young, 18 thru about 35, except me). Never have used any protection. Is the use of these mandatory or voluntary in the senior ages? Thanks.

rdfoz1 ... In SSUSA sanctioned tournament play, pitchers are required to wear face protecting gear, as defined in Rulebook §6.17 (page 37) ... Also, §6.18 describes recommended, but not required, additional gear a pitcher may wish to consider ... In tournament play, we do not allow pitching screens ... However, many local leagues that play under SSUSA rules have a local rule provision permitting, or mandating, those screens ... That is the sole purview of the local league's directors ... Good luck! ...
