Dec. 2, 2004 barko34 19 posts | Kombat bat by DeBomb Anyone know about the legality of this bat for the '05 season? MK39, have you heard anything? Steve |
Dec. 2, 2004 The Pro 81 posts | At this time it is legal and will be legal in 2005 in all Associations except ASA. |
Dec. 2, 2004 barko34 19 posts | The Pro Thanks for the reply, but don't all the associations (except USSSA and SSWS) use the ASA banned bat list? Just wondering. Steve |
Dec. 2, 2004 barko34 19 posts | Sorry. Meant to type SSWC. |
Dec. 2, 2004 Walk 192 posts | barko34, The ASA, SSWS, ISF, and ISSA use the ASA rules all the rest use either the NSA, USSSA, or 1.20 rules. The Combat is legal in everything but the ASA. It should be legal in the ISF since the ISF goes by the 1.20 but the person who runs that world decided (at least last year) to follow the ASA bat standards instead of the ISF bat standards. Walk |
Dec. 2, 2004 MK39 Men's 50 333 posts | barko34: I have hit the bat and here are my findings. 1. Paint chipped off of most of the middle of the barrel within 100 swings. The stamps that make it legal ( 1.20 ) were no longer there. 2. The bat cracked severly on it's 290th hit. 3. The bat broke in aroung 100 hits and got hot. The first 100 hits felt like a hard composite bat but still had decent pop. 4. I believe this bat will have to be changed to increase the durabilty otherwise Combat will have way to many returns. 5. We are not going to be offering the bat until we see what changes and how it affects both performance and durability. 6. The Miken Freak Plus is still the best USSSSA 1.2 bat . Only problem for Senior guys is that Miken still wont sign with NSA, neither will Wilson/DeMarini so there new bats like the Freak plus and the Evo will be good for USSSA but not for NSA or SPA. JMHO Hope that helps. Thanks Mike Kelly Kelly's Sports 50+ |
