| June 10 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I just received the 2005-2006 Official Senior Softball-USA Rulebook. Thanks SSUSA! As I was thumbing through the pages something caught my eye. Section 2, 2.1 states that a Major Plus team must use common rosters for all participating National Summit Organizations. I had heard this from SPA earlier this year but when I asked a tournament director from another association, he said that he had never heard of the rule. My question is this, how many Major Plus teams have one roster for ASA, one for ISSA, another for ISA, etc? I can imagine how upset a team would be, showing up in Phoenix ready to play and then finding that some of its players are ineligible to play. While attending the SPA Conference in Atlanta this Feb, Ridge stated that no longer will an opposing team be required to protest a player. Now it is the tournament director responsiblity to call attention to an ineligible player. The other divisions, Major, AAA and AA do not that this stipulation. |
| June 10 TaterinGa Men's 50 179 posts | In 04', JAH Masters had to turn in a National Frozen roster by June 15th; I sent this to SPA & ISSA. I went to 3-4 Nationals with 10-11 players because I could not add any after the deadline. I was excused @ the SPA because I got down to too few players & the rule allowed me to pick up some more. This was difficult to place a competitive team on the field w/only 10-11 players. |
| June 11 turn2 489 posts | Bruce, so can a player be on 2 diff. rosters if he is not going to cetain events with that team?ex. a team is not going to asa could you put 1 of there players on your roster. just wondering. thanks, donnie |
| June 11 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I would say no. According to SPA and the SSUSA rule book, your roster must be the same for all Senior Summit Associations. This applies only to Major Plus. To be sure, if I were you, I would ask Ridge and Terry if that is how they interprete the rule. |
| June 11 turn2 489 posts | Bruce, thanks for the info. this is for next year right of this year? also coildt you be on 2 diff rosters and if you didnt play in spa for 1 team you might could play for the other team?does this apply to usssa ,asa and all assoc.? thanks, donnie |
| June 11 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Donnie, I was told this if for all Senior Summit Association. SSUSA is the only one that I have seen the rule in print. I heard from some that Ridge Hooks (SPA) will abide by the rule. I don't know about the rest. This is the rule for 2005. I don't know the ruling if you were on a roster but didn't play. I would contact the association in which you were playing. |
| June 11 turn2 489 posts | Bruce, thanks for the info. it would be nice if rules were not changed in the middle of the year. well in usssa you can pick up 1 additional player for that world. it is the only assoc. you can pick up. i will check on the other worlds. i dont see how anyone could keep up with all these changes in the rosters. thanks, donnie chavis |
