Dec. 11 ShaneV Men's 55 393 posts | Todd, do you know other guys 40+ from Tacoma south that would be interested in playing senior league in Lacey? We really need more 40's to fill out a division. Few of the older teams really want to play the 40's, too much difference from 40 to 50. A challenge we've seen lately has been someone willing to step up and organize a new team. Last year we had enough free-agents contacting us to make 3 additional teams but little interest in organizing. Also sponsorship is always a challenge. At 49 in 2012 you could play league on a 50+ team according to our league rule. We plan to phase this out in 2013. Some local tournaments also allow 1-2 underage. The senior game is really a blast. So many guys playing the men's game into their 40's really have no idea how much fun it could be, to be the new, young, fast, strong guy in senior ball. We still have some attitudes but it is a much calmer game with guys that just love to compete. The rules make it much more forgiving but the bats & balls make it fast. It is very much still a hitters game and a great defensive workout. The per inning run limit (5) and HR limits keep scores reasonable at a 15-20 run average. BB50, send your info to sver152@comcast.net ShaneV |
Dec. 11 TDTDTD 5 posts | Shane, How many 40+ teams are there in the league currently? I do know quite a few players over 40 and would need to see what I can come up with. What are the fees, league schedule and format etc.? Todd |
Dec. 13 ShaneV Men's 55 393 posts | We've had one or two 40's the last couple years. 2011 info: Spring March-April 9 weeks double-headers 5on5on5 (6-7 guys make a team) 18 games for about $400 with 12 teams. Summer May-July 13 weeks double-headers full team 26 games for about $840 with 12 teams. Fall August-September 9 weeks double-headers full team 18 games for about $525 with 9 teams. Almost no rainouts, you probably already know how good the fields are regardless of weather. ShaneV |
Dec. 21 Antnee 4 posts | I am interested in playing (I am 45). I have played my whole life. I still play softball with the youngsters on Fort Lewis, and hold my own, but it would be nice to play with those my own age. I can play anywhere on the field...not picky. In the Army, workout & run every day and still have a competitive streak. If anyone is looking for players let me know. My contact info is anthony.elliott@rocketmail.com or 210-788-7753 Thanks Anthony |
