March 11 STONEMAN Men's 50 535 posts | TATER & BRUCE: Make sure you speak to the right person, about play' down. Also, get your O.K. in writting. Two players from Vegas, went to Tourn's, one in Kansas & one in Alabama & were not allowed to play in the lower divisions. (One of the events was a SPA tourn'.) Both players were told by the Assoc., that was running that EVENT that it was O.K. to play in a division lower. Another point, when a player changes age group, classify your self in the older classification. If, u want to play 50 & 55, classifiy oneself as a 55 player & not as a 50 player.. One of our Senior classified hisself as a 50 Major Plus player & could not play in the 55 Major Plus age group that year. This ballplayer turned 55 during that year. GOOD LUCK..... THE STONEMAN |
March 13 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Stoneman, I know what you mean about getting a ruling in writing. Aboujt 3 years ago Tater played with Sidelines, a AAA team. He and their coach, Mike Carter had talked to SPA and thought they had received approval for them to play AAA in the Nationals. To make a long story short, an opposing team protested and won, Sidelines forfieted. |
March 13 TaterinGa Men's 50 179 posts | This is true Bruce: but as I talked w/SPA about this at the protest; the associations see so many rosters that they have to approve, they probably never look at each name to confirm their classification status. It made me look devious, which is the last thing that I want. |
March 14 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Question for you guys? I'm 57 and recently joined a 50's AAA team in Utah. Haven't appled for my lost SSUSA card yet. If I want to be eligible to play 55's and 50's, what is your recommendation? Ed |
