Aug. 10 d45 160 posts | The latest update on Steven this morning from Melissa, his daughter, is they straightened Steven's spine last night and removed the bone from the spinal cord. He has a break in the C2 vertebrae, but the bone did not completely sever the spinal cord. They did a CT scan, but they can't see much because of the halo that he is in. They are now reducing the sedatives as I write this so they can do a neurological exam today. We continue to pray for his complete recovery. A good site to go on for complete updates is CaringBridge.com There you can register and write your personal thoughts to Steven and his family. |

Aug. 14 Born_In_44 2 posts | Yesterday, I received the awful news of Steve's accident. Steve and I graduated from Pilgrim High School together in 1963. A current teammate of mine was also a classmate. A few years ago at a tournament, picture of the three of us together was taken and published in the Senior Softball USA's newspaper. We in Rhode Island who have known Steve for whatever the reason, are devastated by the bad news. He was here to administer our tournament as well as to be with family. He has done that annually for the past five years. All I can say is that Steve has been one of the really nice guys that I've known during my lifetime ... just a genuine, real man. I am so very sorry that this has happened to him. If he were able to communicate at the moment, I'm sure that his first concern would have been his grandchildren ... who were with him. I have enlisted everybody I know to take a minute to say a prayer in his behalf and I've received a bunch of promises. I've been praying for him ... I'm sure you are, too. Keep fighting, Steve. Your family and friends are with you. |
