THE BADGER CLASSIC

Aug. 21, 2015

The Badger Classic went off without a hitch during August in Oshkosh, WI for the 19th year in a row. One of the longest running qualifiers, the Badger Classic featured 10 teams from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.

Using a six-game round-robin format, teams faced off in three divisions.

“We enjoyed great weather and teams were all very happy with the tournament,” said Tournament Director Dave Raymond. “Teams from three different states each ended up winning a division.”

Losing only to the Oshkosh Ambassadors 55’s 12-11, Antiques of Iowa captured the 55 division title without much struggle going 5-1. Playmakers came in a close second with a record of 4-2 but just couldn’t muster enough hits to overcome Antiques of Iowa.

The 60 division saw three teams go at it and they proved to be very well-matched. Despite Oshkosh Ambassadors pulling off the division title with a 4-2 record, Wisconsin Masters were not far behind going 3-3. In fact, the first match-up saw Oshkosh Ambassadors squeak out a close win 7-6 only to lose in their next head-to-head 11-5. In the final outing, Wisconsin Masters fell short allowing 19 runs to their 11 and handing the title to Oshkosh Ambassadors.

The 70 division also saw some great competition despite only three teams taking the fields. MN Lumberjacks ended up 4-2 to steal the division title from the 3-3 Oshkosh Ambassadors. Featuring some very close games, Milwaukee Seniors also put up some string performances but just couldn’t muster the runs when necessary to put MN Lumberjacks down.
