BERLIN / MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Sixteen teams battled it out in the Nutmeg State at the 2016 CT Masters Games. Sage Park (Berlin) and Smith Field (Middletown) played host to the games that were held on June 11-12.

In the four-team 50 Major division, No. 2 seed Johnny’s Auto & Truck forced an “if” game after defeating top seed Faddy Malones, 35-18, in the championship game. Faddy Malones would come back to avenge its loss with a 29-22 triumph in the “if”. After falling to No. 3 seed Hard Hat Café/Latella’s/Vio’s Sports, 21-13, in their first game, Johnny’s Auto & Truck bounced back with three straight wins en route to their runner-up finish.

The three-team 50 AAA division saw No. 3 seed Roadhouse Blues go 3-0 in bracket play defeating Chicago Sam’s (24-20) and Custom Logo (22-14), before knocking off Chicago Sam’s for a second time, 18-10, in the championship game.

The 60 Gold division was comprised of seven teams, with No. 1 seed Hannington’s 60’s coming out on top going 3-0 defeating Cape Cod Mariners, 11-7, and Talaga Construction twice, including 21-11 in the championship game. After winning their first two games, Talaga fell to Hannington’s, 19-18, to drop down into the elimination side of the bracket. Talaga would then knock off Cape Cod, 26-15, to advance to the championship game.

An exciting best two-out-of-three game series would determine the champion in the 60 AA division between Diamond Dawgs and Syracuse Cyclones. Syracuse took game one, 12-10, while Diamond Dawgs came back to even the series with a 17-13 victory in game two. The final game would see the Cyclones top the Dawgs, 19-12.
