SSUSA STAFF HIGHLIGHT: DOUG ROBBINS

July 1, 2016

Doug Robbins, Senior Softball USA National Director, began directing tournaments in 2008 as an Assistant Director, before moving on to his current role as a National Director in 2009.

“Doug has been such an important part of Senior Softball,” said Fran Dowell, SSUSA Executive Director. “He has unbelievable energy and is always near to lend a helping hand to anything we need. We are very lucky that he is such a professional and loyal director to our organization.”

Robbins began participating in Senior Softball 12 years ago, first playing with Wilson Trophy 55, before creating his own team, sponsored by his business, Timberworks Construction. Robbins started his construction business with his son, who has now taken over the company. Timberworks won the crown jewel of Senior Softball two years ago, winning the 2014 Tournament of Champions at the 60 Major Plus division.

Robbins has been playing softball since he was 19 years old, beginning with fast-pitch, before moving on to slow-pitch.  In high school, Robbins played football, basketball and ran track. He was going to go on to play football and run track in college, but was drafted into the Army.
