Policy Change on Player Exemptions
Aug. 1, 2017 – Terry Hennessy CEO
Senior Softball USA has announced two changes in player eligibility rules, which go into effect immediately:
- Players receiving medical exemptions to play at a lower skill level will be eligible to participate at the new level three months after the exemption has been granted.
- Players will be granted a “one-time” exemption to play on a short-handed team ONLY if they are the 10th player on men’s teams aged 40-65, or the 11th player on men’s teams aged 70-85. Players also must meet regional and age restrictions.
The new rules have been implemented to address problems with the original exemption rules and to institute a policy that is available to all teams in a short-handed situation.
